  1. Yesterday I had the salad only at Sizzler for Baht 179. Pretty good value considering it included baked potato, toasted cheese bread, unlimited salads, good soups, & pasta.

I have said this before in the burger debate that IMO Sizzler do a really good substantial beef burger.

  2. Yesterday there were quite a few people buying iPhone 4s at the Apple outlet in Central, next to Watsons.

16GB at 20,650 with AIS package or 22,250 without.

32GB at 23,900 with AIS package or 26,000 without.

VAT has to be added to both prices & apparently they only have the 32GB model left at present.

  3. well 2 retards thai construction workers tried to rob me last night in rassada. Must be the same guys.

I know where they live and have taken action to make sure they never have a decent night sleep before working their 12 hours a day in the sun.

I find it really ridiculous to consider a natural plant in its natural state to be illegal if you think about it it really is dumb now if its processed someway OK but how can you make a tree illegal LOL

Marijuana is not processed yet is illegal in many countries.

  4. nobody ever said anything about short distance.

The problem is the broke farangs using them on chao-fah and the bypass road, causing mayhem and havok.

If you live in nai-harn-rawai-kata then go ahead, use it to get to the beach or whatever, the traffic never goes beyond 40km/h anyways. I think its a good idea to use one in those small slow roads, save on gas and save on cleaning products.

I have had more problem with farangs using samlors in the middle of the main roads or driving their very tanned and no so respectable wife on their knees with 3 non-lukrung kids tied to the steering wheel of the motorbike(with lights off at 9pm when the kids should of been to bed hours ago) than with thais.

As I think I made clear in an earlier post, I don't enjoy driving my samlor - but as I refuse to drive a car for fear of killing someone, have to use it to pick up water etc.

I've only ever once taken it on the bypass road - but that was because I found a seriously ill and starving dog and needed to get her to the vets. I thought she might have distemper, so couldn't ask any of my friends (they all have dogs) to take the poor dog in their cars.

I quailed at the thought of driving my samlor over Chalong Circle, but realised I had no choice or the dog would die..... (turned out she had pneumonia as well as being almost starved to death).

No doubt you would have ranted at my samlor on the by-pass road - but I think your (or anyone else's inconvenience) was far less important than saving the life of a lovely dog!

A good deed indeed. Don't worry about ilyelol as I think he is just a simple <deleted> stirrer.

  5. Kallots in Nai Harn has good western breakfast & reasonably priced lunch & dinner food. Also extensive Thai menu if your Thai partner does not fancy western food. I just had lunch there. Very nice baguette filled with cumberland sausage & fried onions with french fries on the side. This with a fruit shake for Baht 180.

  6. A little vague to me. Are you wanting to put the house in a company name or transfer it from a company name? If putting it in a company name just make sure your company has legitimate shareholders. Sorry no recommendations for lawyer.

  7. Ah, so a poor farang is allowed to drive his sidecar in the vicinity if his home, you just don't want him in the way when you have to go somewhere.

    How generous.

Don't humour him as he is just making use of his big wooden spoon.

  8. I like almond croissants but cannot find one in Phuket which even comes close to matching the one made by Fridays in my hometown. Living up to its name they are only open on Friday with the queues starting at 7am.

  9. If they annoy you tough t1tty. Learn to live with them like all the other stuff you moaning minnies have to put up with.

I have just had one built onto my bike with a ramp and I sit in my wheelchair strapped in it while my carer drives me about. Without it i wouldn't be able to get around.

As for them being illegal...we went through a police check yesterday where they were pulling all the bikes over...copper waved us through and smiled.

Good story & great to see you have this extra & cheap mobility.

  10. Name a Mexican food restaurant here that is.

Los Amigos (by the Nai Harn Lake) best so far....but off topic...

Or more 'snacky' burnt tortilla is currently a fave..

Great presentation but I thought a little bland. I still miss the Mexican style food that used to be on the way to Chalong Pier but closer back to the circle. Has anyone asked Moo if she is going to do Xmas dinner as without Don's there will be a bit of a gap to fill.

  11. Fisherman's Way has individually styled homes but have not been in there for a while so not sure if they have any land left. Currently developing shops on the roadside. I have a home for sale in Kathu if you are interested.

  12. The way the thais find acceptable is to not drive it. No one is in favor of these over the small mazda pickup or a normal pickup.

And what you have just said just goes against anything that is accepted in the world. EVery country accepts immigrants with their culture. Thais should especially accept us and our culture. They depend on other countries to live, they are not self-sufficiant unless you think that eating 800calories per day (mostly rice) and working 12hours a day is living. They need tourism, they need to do their exports(which western countries can get from other places), they need the sexpat to fund the north etc etc.

Most higher middle class to rich thais are pretty close to farangs and the country can be run without the lower class thais who love to jam traffic and cause deaths. they can be replaced by burmese who are brought around in PICKUPS So that means that samlors are not accetapble and are only there because everyone in this country is too scared to change anything. Those stall vendors with samlors could definately convert their shit in a small pickup or a bigger, better bike.. or make their samlors go faster than 15km/h.. for god's sake they make more than 30k a month.. food vendors are richer than most farangs in thailand.

and lol @ this is not our country.. Many of the posters here have contributed more to this country than 50 family of thais(and their extended family) have in generations. All the jobs and money we bring here make us more important than the guy in his samlor that just opened the 25th corner store(next to 3 7/11) after thinking "Ohh 7/11 makes so much money, ill open the 25th store on the street that sells t he same junk and I'll be finally able to get a samlor and kill people on the road"

Go take a random thai, ask him "Do you want 10 farangs to move here, hire your brothers to build a house for ecah of them"? he'll say yes

Then tell him the price for this would be to burn every samlor he see's in the area.

He'd still say yes even in the face of the samlor drivers that dont contribute to the economic of the area that much(many people carry the water bottles/gas tanks/food stalls by pickup. There's only 3-4 in my area who use samlors instead of pickups.

    What complete rubbish!

I agree. This should go into a really weird posting category.

  13. Another road tragedy on an intersection where it has happened before & under very similar circumstances. It is surprising there are not more like this as many will move off before the light turns green while just as many will run the red lights. Just look at any intersection with traffic lights & everyone is looking at the number counting down or watching for the amber so they can rev up & start moving. Everyday I see many drivers going through red lights when the have had ample time to stop & they do it during peak hours when the police are manning the lights yet no one is chased & brought to book.

Those who mentioned the me me attitude highlight the ever increasing selfishness of the human race as this is not peculiar to Thailand.

  14. I had a nice breakfast at La Boheme the other day. The lunch/dinner menu looked fairly interesting with a variety of English, French, Italian & Indian food. It is located in the small group of shops next to the large Home Mart store on Chao Fa East. It has only been open a couple of weeks. On the way to my favourite Thai food place on Saturday I noticed they were already closed at 8pm.

  15. I had similar problems until I stopped smoking from one day to the next. It was quite a few years ago and I am feeling (and breathing) well ever since.

Thanks a sensible answer but will they all be sensible, the doc at Bangkok gave me anti- depressents, I am not depressed but as he said these tablets will calm you down and will help with any stress or anxiety that you might have, I dont feel stress or anxiety but could be in the background I suppose, maybe I will try again as it is now getting me down which could be a cause bloody nightmare lol

Are you also having breathing problems when you sleep? Do you have to get up & pee during the night? If so it could be sleep apnea.

  16. Thats a terrible shame Lannatype. Read your other thread too.

It reminds me of the garden centers. Their prices rise and fall (except they don't fall) more then stocks!

Only yesterday I went to my 'usual' (prob been a dozen times and spent a fair amount) center, about 1.5 k's up from HomePro Chalong, left side heading north. Was looking for a hedge type plant which my mother (foreign) bought for 10 Baht each. A lady I had seen but never dealt with comes up, talking in a rude and unresponsive way and spouts out 20 Baht, naturally I said I know they are 10 Baht each politely, but I couldn't get past her disgusting tone.

Now I know many people may think its only 10 Baht so why don't I just pay, but of course its the PRINCIPLE of the matter not to mention 10 Baht times a very long hedge will add up and the times I been there b4. Its a terrible shame as it was a nice center with good condition plants, a fair price and I do need reliable garden centers because of what I do. Of the course the lovely lady got a quick "thank you" in the end before seeing me drive off empty handed into the sunset! ... well not a a sunset but heavy traffic, not quite a Hollywood ending but close!

Can anybody recommend me a new place. Location doesn't matter. Cheers!

Was there recently myself. Same lady I suppose quoting high prices & did not seem to care if she sold anything or not. Customer service was pitiful. I too walked out wondering what had happened to this place which I have happily used before. The husband is a really good guy, shame he allows his wife to hang around & be their front person.
