  1. Spent May in C'mai, Stayed at Suriwongse part of the time. Pretty good deal as they are being renovated. The rooms are new and very pleasant at the moment. No grand foyer, no swimming pool no F&B to speak off yet. Next to the Night Bizzare (pun intended).1100B from Asia Travel. Stayed at a B&B in the old city which will remain nameless. Just don't believe everything on TripAdvisor.

  2. G at The Pun Pun will give you 10% discount. You don't need to apply, just tell him your TV nickname. I'm not sure if you are with a group of non TV friends if they too would get the discount, but maybe G could clarify please.

The Empress Hotel sell a discount card, which brings their lunch buffet down to about 189 baht, which is a steal!

Gecko Garden has specials every day for under a 100 Baht, so you don't really need a discount card there.

What would the discount card cost?

  3. Thank you David. I was quite taken by the presentation. A pity the author did not keep the faith. It would have been a winner.

    Cheers

Based on the "tasters' (this one in particular) I took the plunge and bought the program. I was disappointed to find that the program did not contain this or similar videos since the one of the website was well done and allowed me to quickly learn what was presented in it. If there had been similar videos done for all the alphabet, I think it would have been a much better deal. After looking through the rest of the program, I found that is was ok but definitely overpriced for what you get. I would have returned it but was in the middle of the move from the US to Chiang Mai and missed the 30 day deadline for returning it. Would I recommend it to others? Probably not. That said, other people seem to like it and are ok with both the price and the content.

    Best to you

    David

  4. Greetings The last time I was in Chiangmai ('09) there was some construction going on around Viangbua Mansion. Am thinking of booking there for May and am wondering if it's still a construction site? Many Thanks

  5. Penang - hot/humid with seabreezes. Ordinary beaches.

I loved Penang in the 60's

    Hated it in the 80's

Went back to have a look in April and loved it again. There is even a proper bus service with a small free route. English is widely spoken. Completely multicultural and food to die for. (Of course I love Chiangmai). Check out these bookmarks I apologize as they are a little eclectic.
