anyone about the muslim eatery near wat santitham? i could vaguely remember i went twice some years back served with excellent mataba and thai briyani. it was pretty dam_n cheap and really crowded
but the last time im back in chiang mai it wasnt there around anymore.
Ambience NOT good but wonderful flavour. Avoid the "ottel" (oxtail) soup. Run by a couple of lovely old ladies.http://maps.google.c...004495&t=m&z=16.

Yes - coordinates are right on thanks.
Seems like half the directions you need a special global locator (GPS I think) to find them and most of the maps are in Thai. Which is not always that big of a difficulty if you had a reference point to start from. It is a big city and just showing a local map does not help if you don't have a starting point. Or even a hint. You could say which side of the old city and that would narrow it down a lot.
Google Maps gives you all you want and more.
You can switch languages (at least I can).
Enlarge the view or reduce it.

i think it was close to a cheetah bar, if thats the small open air bar with a concrete box out front as a water fountain. For the absolute best Kao Soy in Chiang Mai go here. 40-50 baht
1) right at nakorn ping condo (on Huay Kaew across from Shell)
2) first right
3) first left
4) Kao Soy Mae Sai on your left about 50 meters
They have tender braised beef or a chicken leg.
40-50 baht, no place else can compare.
did you describe the place next door to Auntie Aoys..opposite the Cheetah bar.....also a top place for me...(the bar aswell)

There's a place along Kampaengdin that is very popular. I ate there once when they were a smaller operation and thought it was OK but maybe they improved or it fits other people's palettes as its much bigger now.
There is also a place near Kaew Nawarat rd entrance to Arcade bus station. On Kaew Naw Rd just west about 50yards or so from Arcade entrance. Small little shophouse, someone told me they supplied some of the hotels. They were very good but that was a few years back.
I think this is it
and the menu

A sarcastic and totally un called for post has been removed
Was this my attempt to comment in Klingon? I assure you it was innocous and not in the least bit sarcastic as Klingon was mentioned (albeit spelt incorrectly). I apologise if I infringed the rules.

Heya LemanRus
I like the tonkantsu and tempura for Japanese food...I am fortunate to work in japan on some weeks per year and the food is amazing so I get my load of Japanese cravings there
In Chiang Mai I enjoy eating at Fuji and Zen and have not found the rest
Any u would recommend ?
I have been to both. There seems to be a heap of others. Have a look at these threads

Heya hellodolly
At Mandarin Oriental it's all you can eat at 790 baht++ at Fujian although I recommend if u are a small eater to go like me for the ala carte items which are between 45-90 baht per basket ....good value for the quality there and it's very fresh, service immpecable and manager makes good recommendations
I normally average about 800-900 baht for 2 person and Chinese tea included (try hangzhou long jing which is a very light fragrant white tea)
Like your choices.... Whats your view on Japanese? Perhaps in a separate thread?

Thinking of buying some tax free cigarettes to bring into the States to save some bucks. Does anyone know how many packs one is allowed to bring in? My kid leaves 2 days before me. He doesn't smoke but I'll ask him to carry some in for me.
2 packs of 25 into Australia, no packs into Singapore.

Perhaps its my fading memory BUT I can remember Weetbix used to be a bundle of thread like wheat. Now its sort of flakes compressed in a bundle. Please correct me.
Your talking about Shredded Wheat. Fading memory corrected
Thank you. Now if only I can remember where I stabled my horse....

what I can't understand is how people don't see it.
How can they if they’re all under hypnosis?
How much would he charge for convincing me that my wife is a 24-year-old stunning blond Swedish model?
Male model??

I think this is the reason.

I'd better better drive carefully and not run anybody down on those days. The way my luck is running it will be a lawyer.

Is that Loy Krathong weekend?
Nearest I could get on the net is Sat Thai (สารทไทย}. Perhaps the temples in that area have a greater number of Thai Chinese visiting?

The prices of hotels along Changklan Road have gone through the roof for these few days.
Curious, any member know why?

Add me to the list of those who have had a love affair with Miss Mangosteen ( ooohh those stains upon the bedsheets !!!!) , but i also have a wanton & illict love affair with Madam Durian. Secret rendevous with that seductress in the heat and passion of the night . I can feel her skin upon mine. Devouring her when nobody else is around .What a sordid life i have fallen into .
Some say Durian is the King and Mangosteen is the Queen. Eating Manosteen after Durian balances the "heatiness" of Durian. And never drink brandy after eating Durian..

Wow double is a lot although at the current prices , it's still doable for the quality as it is difficult to find good quality Chinese food in CM.
Fujian would have easily cost double of that although the ambience is obviously targeted at a richer clientele
Anyone can cook Chinese ...cooking quality Chinese food does involves a good chef and they don't come cheap with the fresh seafood ingredients ...
It's not Chinese, it's Thai Chinese.
Its Teochew and quite good Teochew

I think SilkAir is the only direct service to Singapore. 3 times a week. Sunday, Wednesday & Friday. I could be wrong. Please check http://www.silkair.c...?execution=e2s1
You could go via other cities?

I apologise if I caused offense. I did not notice this post and spoke out of turn. Would be obliged if the mods could remove my post?
