  1. .. An argument could be made that Pot leads to stronger drugs.. it seems to be a small amount of people that follow that route..however even a few are too many, as heavier drugs like crack, yabba and heroin etc.are horrible drugs..I wouldn't wish that on anyone..yet..which is worse..alcohol or Pot ??

As an ex pot smoker from the age of 14 i have tried majority of substances except crack, yabba, heroin.

Everybody i know/knew who smoked weed for recreational purpose (this suggests they like me had full time jobs and responsibility not dole dossers) also used other drugs like coke/speed/acid/mushrooms

Smoking weed is an easy route to taking other drugs. This is my personal experience and most of my friends.

OP have you ever taken other substances asise from weed? answer truthfully.

Keep pot banned it definitely leads onto harder drugs. IMHO

Complete BS that is like saying drinking milk leads to drinking whiskey. Even the head of the American DEA concedes that there is no link beteween smoking hash and taking hard drugs,

How can you say BS ?.....the person is basing his opinion on personal experience of himself and his friends... :)

And thats exactly what it is...personal opinion.....FYI, you are talking about hash and he is taking about weed not quite the same thing... :D

There is value in what he is saying, possibly the physical act of smoking weed/hash does not lead you onto harder drugs, but the fact you are exposed to the "drug culture" generally means dealing with suppliers/people who have access to or sell harder drugs, and therefore people may be tempted to try or are encouraged to try harder drugs by peers or dealers, therefore someone can be drawn onto harder drugs that way - So the statement smoking weed leads to harder drugs can be valid statement...

I know of many people who have smoked weed over many many years and a lot of them certainly do have "mental" problems which possibly could be attributed to smoking weed

Yeah, like when we go into a Supermarket and are exposed to the alcohol being pushed by the grocery dealers

  2. TAT Does not look down at Backpackers

TAT look at Backpackers as the future spender in thailand.

so they do cater for them.

    ISAN TRAIN INFESTATIONS

Foreign backpackers deny they're bed bug spreaders

    LAMPHAI INTATHEP & AMORNRAT MAHITTHIROOK

Foreign backpackers say they are disgusted by bed bugs, but even more disgusted by the suggestion they are the ones carrying the insects onto trains. Many foreign backpackers waiting for trains at Hua Lampong station yesterday conceded they knew little about bed bug infestations on trains.

They said the thought of bed bugs crawling on the velvety seats of long-haul trains and biting passengers while they dozed off was truly off-putting.

But to be accused of carrying the blood-sucking bugs on to trains was even more disgusting, said many foreign backpackers interviewed yesterday by the Bangkok Post at the train terminal.

Transport Minister Santi Prompat said yesterday the bugs may have jumped onto travellers' backpacks during forest treks and then found new homes in the cosy seats of the trains. He said the velvet-covered seats and cool temperatures contributed to make the trains a fertile breeding ground for the insects.

Many passengers on the Daewoo diesel trains on some northeastern lines have complained about bed bug bites.

  4. With all the current uncertainties: poor exchange rates, rising prices, high crime, anti farang centiment, police shakedowns, road chaos, poor service, agressive Thais, constant change in visa regs, uncertainty if you have any rights to your house - even if you bought it in your wifes name, etc. etc. etc. - - - -

Are you close to throwing in the towel?

  5. Yakult - with its handy small size bottles - is ideal for kids packed lunches as it fits snugly into a packed lunch box.

It is also a tasty refreshing drink to be enjoyed at any time of the day

Great, now the Yakult ladies are not only spamming our apartment complexes, they're also doing it on our message boards.

Empty Yakult bottles make an ideal feeding device - when fitted with a small teat - for rearing baby monkeys or sick puppys :)

  6. Who else wants Texpat to suddenly lose all his money and have to live the life of poverty? Show of hands? :)

I think you took a wrong turning - this is the Yakult promotion post. But I vote yes re. texpat since you ask

  8. Drinking 1 small bottle of this delicious pro-biotic drink each day will keep you healthy - and it is delicious!

These Yakult girls should be honered for services to mankind.

Albert Einstien drank Yakult every morning - as did Plato and Napolean :)

Also Archimedes filled his bath with Yakult - it's a well known fact :D

Eureka! -The volume of Yakult displaced is equal to......

A lot of interesting facts re. Yakult are being uncovered here :D

I like to put Yakult on my cornflakes - it is a good healthy alternative to milk :D

  9. WHAT are the benefits of drinking Yakult?

    WHAT is Yakult LIGHT?

    WHO drinks Yakult?

    WHEN do you drink Yakult?

HOW MUCH Yakult should I drink?

Yakult is a probiotic drink containing live, beneficial bacteria - the

    exclusive Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain.

Yakult has been tested and is scientifically proven to survive the

journey through digestive acids to reach your intestines ALIVE.

Each 65 ml bottle contains approximately 6.5 billion bacteria, enough

to help replenish the levels of good bacteria in the digestive system.

Ideally the digestive system should contain greater amounts of

friendly, beneficial bacteria in order to outnumber those that are

    potentially harmful.

Yakult helps keep the balance between the beneficial and

potentially harmful bacteria living in the digestive system.

Factors that can alter this delicate balance are:

    • What we eat and drink • A busy lifestyle

    • Stress • Traveling

    • Antibiotics • The ageing process

  11. I used to stay in the Diana Inn about 20 years ago until the Apex opened next door at 250 baht with all the same facilities and then the Sabai Dee opened and a bunch of other cheapos.

Lately I have noticed that all of the "bargain" places are now all pretty close to the Diana Inn price at 850 baht per night, but I do not know how it has aged.

Is it worth going back to the Diana Inn instead?

I used to stay at the Diana Inn 15 or so years ago and i found it good, clean and comfortable. The last time I stayed was around 5 years ago and it was poor, dirty and uncomfortable. As with most Thai Hotels of this standard refurbishment is alien to them.

  12. Agreed, to survive we must teach our children to take on our natural roles as humans, Male and female!

I am helping the planet more by NOT BREEDING than those who are creating too many children and then befouling the planet making it uninhabitable for future generations. Breeding is not our current problem as a species. We've got that covered.

I certainly agree that you are helping the planet by not breeding

  13. We probably don't deserve to survive as a species. Reading many of the posts here would certainly make an objective alien come to that conclusion. I don't know how some of you with children can look at yourselves in the mirror. When push comes to shove, we aren't much more intelligent than other animals on earth. We deal with issues when they are in our face. A snake is in the vicinity of a meerkat, the meerkat reacts. By the time this global warming has passed the point of no return for the planet, then all of our human heads will be in the snake's mouth ... We have the opportunity, unlike the meerkat, to change our ways to prevent our demise as a species, but we are too stupid and greedy to take it.

right, you can even say that, if a comet is falling on your head.

The point is, that ice, which was more or less at the same size for thousands of years, suddenly diminishes rapidly. The only logical reason can be a warmer climate.

or Al Gores' team is manipulating that secretly with immersion boiling devices during the night time.

Excerpt: Al Gore has made the disappearing snows of Mount Kilimanjaro a cornerstone of his crusade against global warming. In his film "An Inconvenient Truth" for example, he says: "Within the decade, there will be no more snows of Kilimanjaro." But now researchers from the U.S. and Austria say global warming isn't the cause, and the fluctuations are nothing new.

  15. Never mind the negative :D image that some or many Thais may have of us farang..lets be positive and PROACTIVE. That means picking up garbage in Thailand..I said picking up garbage that YOU did not throw on the ground. I know I'm not the only one that cleans up beaches in LOS. SPEAK UP THOSE OF YOU WHO CLEAN UP IN LOS :) !! I always carry a bag of large, black ( how do you think I learned to say see dam?) plastic garbage bags in the trunk, and any beach I go to I almost always pick up garbage, whether I am having a few beer or not at the time. Why?? because when you bend over 1000's of times to pick up broken glass, etc. on Thai beaches, you actually get a bit of a workout, and it helps as part of the whole program to keep off weight. From Ko Surin, to Krabi, to Ko Samui, to Railay Beach, to Pattaya/Jomtien, to Nakorn Si Thammarat, to Phuket (found several needles for Heroin or whatever in the sand at Kata Beach.. have pictures) etc. I pick up garbage to keep fit and because the garbage problem in LOS is DISGUSTING, so CLEAN UP THEIR MESS..you are killing several birds with one stone..exercise, your better half likes it, the locals like it, some Thais even start to help you and change their lax attitude, the FARANG starts to be seen in a different light.. Lets not slam Thais for their habits, lets pick up after them and see how quickly they evolve..1. ( not evolving) My wifes' sister will not, as everyday I pick up the plastic straws, plastic bags around their house, and they watch..next day I do it all over again..2. (evolving) Cleaned up the beach near the Aquarium in Phuket for about 30 days over several months...Thais started helping quite a bit and now the beach has been cleaner in general..will go back in 2 weeks to check it out..as the harsh German sous chef used to say to no one in particular..."DON"T JUST STAND THERE, DO SOMETHING !!" :D

Does your mam know were you are :D

  16. Melting glaciers and ice clods breaking away are definitely signs, that there is something going on with mother nature. To observe that one has not be a scientist.

  17. Tanzania official now declares ice caps on Mt Kilimanjaro 'increasing' – May 2008

Excerpt: A Cabinet minister has allayed fears that ice caps on Mt Kilimanjaro that is a big tourist attraction in the region could disappear permanently. The minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ms Shamsa Mwangunga, says contrary to reports that the ice caps were decreasing owing to effects of global warming, indications were that the snow cover on Africa's highest mountain were now increasing. "Among the signs of more snow is the decrease in temperatures in areas surrounding the mountain, heavy rainfall this year and increased precipitation and spring water flow on the slopes of the mountain," she pointed out.

Yes birdbrain I have to agree with you, your obviously an elequent intelectual and your opinion is obviously more valid than 19 thousand scientists.

PS ask yourself - does Al Gore make a lot of money from so called global warming!

Why is Antarctic sea ice increasing?

While Arctic sea ice loss has shown dramatic decline over the past few decades, Antarctic sea ice has shown long term growth since satellites began measurements in 1979. This is an observation that has been often cited by skeptics as proof against global warming. However, in all the skeptic articles I've read, not one has raised the crucial question: why is Antarctic sea ice increasing?

  19. Is this true all over the world? The powerful and rich try and will still election using force, money or media

Well yes but I don't think every country is so radically divided into two clear factions, and I don't think every country is seething with the potential of a revolution.

I reckon the greens in Iran figure that their hopes were stolen so the question is do they have the patience to wait four more years to watch it get stolen AGAIN? I would bet they won't have that patience. Similarly to Thailand, the red faction will not wait for years to push their agenda forcefully again.

Look a bit closer to home - didn' Bush steal the election fron the othere halfwit - Gore
