  1. Notes on Bangkok:

As an ex-Bangkok resident now residing in Pattaya, I am always amused when current City folk make post denigrating remarks on our fair City-By-The-Sea...especially about our hard working ladies of entertainment sector. I had the occasion to spend a couple days in Bangkok recently and was shocked to see the continuing deterioration of the Sukhumvit corridor and it's now worse by any measure than anywhere in Pattaya.

One interesting note was the complete lack of any Western or Asian tourists. All I saw were Arab men and their chador covered wifes and children haggling with the trinket vendors, and Indian families and young men as far as the eye could see. I guess these are the folks the TAT has had in mind in all these years of courting "quality" tourists.

Maybe the TAT meant to say 'Quality tourists' but as they never employ an English native speaker to translate then it was misinterpreted as - 'Quality ter ---ists'

  2. This is terrible news............OMB............I will be in Pattaya in 5 weeks. I hope the place isnt deserted. Oh and Ive had the fluvacs this year, then got the flu 2 days later and spend a week off work.

So you had your fluvacs like a good little sheep and you got the flu - anybody in there :)

  3. At least three US federal laws should concern all Americans and suggest what may be coming - mandatory vaccinations for hyped, non-existant threats, like H1N1 (Swine Flu). Vaccines and drugs like Tamiflu endanger human health but are hugely profitable to drug company manufacturers. The Project BioShield Act of 2004 (S. 15) became law on July 21, 2004 "to provide protections and countermeasures of Health contracting flexibility, infrastructure improvements, and expediting the scientific peer review process, and streamlining the Food and Drug Administration approval process of countermeasures." In other words, the FDA may now recklessly approve inadequately tested, potentially dangerous vaccines and other drugs if ever the Secretaries of Health and Human Services (HHS) declare a national emergency, whether or not one exists and regardless of whether treatments available are safe and effective.agents.

Sorry no Pity for drug users you know the rules you know the punishment. I do feel sorry for all the people that have to waste there time helping you.

Not a 'Saint' then! More a judgemental pr**k

  5. well thats my trip to Patts cancelled! But maybe as I am bound to get it ( I always have in the passed) I suffer very badly.I have had the flu jab for the last 15 years and have not had it since..No flu jab for this one yet..My point is better i go get the flu there in Pattaya where they have Tami-flu to take..her in Chiang rai they do not have it! I've checked and for sure it will come up here sooner or later.......So maybe best to have a few flu parties so as to get it while you can get the medicine!!

CANBERRA The inventor of the flu vaccination, which is given to 15 million Britons each year, said that he feared a severe outbreak of the virus and that he had never been very impressed with its efficacy.

Dr Graeme Laver, former Professor of Biochemistry at the Australian National University in Canberra, said: “It is better to do nothing, and I wouldn’t want to advise people not to take it, but you can’t rely on it doing any good.”

  6. I know a few Thai hairdersser and they have told me that the Indians come in and try to hagel the price of a hair cut down. They all refuse them - they also say they're a little on the smelly side :D

A little ? :D Man, try to sit next to one on a baht bus and see if you can survive till the next stop....

I was being diplomatic :) It is not PC to speak openly and honestly - thats why I refrained from saying that they absolutley stink :D Not all of them though :D

  7. of when the season is gone they won't be in thailand right?

and after that, there won't be any accidents in pattaya right?

the problem is nationality or the riders?

What I see is Arabs (mostly) driving like Arabs. Having worked in many Arab countrys I can tell you the problem is Arab drivers. Sorry I mean camel jockeys :D

btw i am none of them, many people are not used to this heavy bikes, and when they are in pattaya they go wild and want to freekout, accidents in pattaya will never stop.

Are you sure Babu :) The reason i indicate there nationalitys is to warn any potential victims. It is much easyer to avoid nutters if you can spot them. Lets not become PC as this is a serious matter

  9. Camel Jockey is a term of endearment for our good friends the Arabs

That's good, because I love Arabs.

    I mean I really, really love Arabs ... :)

Google Cadinot, wink wink nod nod ...

i think rag heads - the term of endearment prefered by the British Prince Harry - is much nicer :D

  10. Take extra care for these brainless criminal camel jokeys

So they are riding high powered bikes or they are riding camels, which is it, I am cornfused (sic)?

Sorry to confuse you. The camel jockeys are riding big bikes. Camel Jockey is a term of endearment for our good friends the Arabs :)

  11. The general concensous seems to be that doing a border run with 5 Star visa - and others - is playing Russian roulette.

Not so long ago an American guy who was so pissed off with the driver - he was sitting in the front - pulled out a can of CS gas and sprayed the driver when the bus stopped back at the Sportsman.

I told the manager that the driver was a nutter and he just shrugged his shoulders. I for one will vote with my feet and never use this 'service' again.

  12. Thats the reason why I prefer whenever and wherever it is possible (without to much problem) to drive myself.

Most of these companies are on tight schedules and drive like crazy.

Instead of trying to do it all in one day why not go under your own steam and take 2 days.

    I always used to.

Good idea - saves the stress and sleepless nights 2 weeks before :)

  13. I know a few Thai hairdersser and they have told me that the Indians come in and try to hagel the price of a hair cut down.

Down from what? My Thai hair guy does me for 60 baht!

Not for a woman in Patts! Maybe you don't pay for your partners hairdo - but I can assure you a lady pays a considerable lot more tha 60 baht. manicure 100 min. You know that :D

PS can you please post a photo of a 60 baht haircut - my small dog cost 250 baht!

Note: Jing's response made no mention of haircuts or barbers. :)

No, but he has clarified - saying it includes a head massage :D

  14. Having just done a border run with 5 Star Visa in Pattaya - I'd like to share a few notes.

Excellent start with good breakfast at the Sportsmans. Everything taken care of at the Cambodian border. Good/very good packed lunch. Friendly driver - but drove like a mad man. Drove full speed round sharp bends and overtook everthing in sight.

This guy drives everyday and it will surley end in tears unless he is reighned in :)

  16. It is obviously a bad thing for the traditional Patts buisinesses i.e. birds and booze and international eating.

All of the races mentioned generally eat only their own food. Esp Indians - curry for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

  17. Hookah pipes are illegal in Thailand.

Just yet another law that goes unenforced unfortunately.

Are they really? I wonder why. I rather like to see the Arabs around town, it gives the place a more international feel, and gives us even more choice of restaurants ...

Wash your mouth out man - what next camel rides on the beach :)
