Renewing a drivers licence at Chiang Mai is a piece of cake, you should have no problem.

Just don't show up at the DMV wearing shorts...

Every time I've been there has been with flipflops and shorts (but collared shirt) and it was a piece of cake.

Though, yesterday I do notice a sign in English stating that it was a government building and appropriate dress is required.

They won't give a 5 year license with an elite visa

Initially I was told I needed a long term visa, though when I replied that I have a long term visa, the lady was quite firm stating it has to be a non-immigrant visa...

So it seems I'll be going through the renewal process *again* next year.

I got new temporary licenses today, but valid for 2 years???

I got told in January at CNX I had too many, the IO let me pass but put a hand written note under my exempt stamp that it would be my last and made me sign it.

as for hotel, my hotels are top class and super clean . 3 stars minimum

And when it comes to reducing haze specifically, I'm not 100% convinced that it is the rain itself that has the clearing effect. Typically when it rains it means air flow from a different direction. The airflow may be the significant thing, not the rain itself. (I don't knows this for a fact, just wondering based on observing haze clear with changing winds, also without rain.)

personally I go soon with retirement visa and with the money saved I will rent a nice house with swimming pool and jacuzzi and will party all nights with my ladies. it sucks to be young! :-)

I guess as far as legal basis goes, my last exempt stamp the head IO wrote a little contract under the stamp stating it would be my last - that we both had to sign before they would let me past GO to collect my $200.
