  1. [i think some people are jumping the gun on this one a bit; of course condolences to those directly affected, but to immediately assume the accident is a result of poor driving standards is unfair - for all we know it could have been caused by some other reason like brake failure or swerving to avoid a dog. The driving standards are not good in Thailand, but that doesn't mean that every accident is down to them. Accidents happen unfortunately, and they happen everywhere.

good to hear the dog is ok.

  2. It might not be news to some, but it was the first time i've seen parking infringements handed out in chiang mai.

Early last night in fact, for parking on Chang Clan road the BIB were going through taping infringements to all parked cars and motorbikes.

Today, i was in the Subway Sandwich shop. the lady informed me if you need to park there is parking behind undercover (entrance near dukes). buy a sandwich and they will stamp your ticket for 1 hour free parking. not sure if applies to the other shops there, but i guess it could.I've always parked my bike on the road when getting a take-away feed, so it's good news to know how to avoid the infringement.

  3. I'm not sure about journalist or blogger, but he definitely a fisherman. He reeled alot of people in.

though i'm still confused how he used a statistic from a TV survey to come to the conclusion that sexpats don't like thaksin... unless he is implying all TV members are sexpats, or just pointing to the fact most of the article was sensationalist padding with little content. he used some big words though.

    the only bit worth noting:

Thai Visa recently did a survey of its members – 4,434 of them to be precise. Among the areas they were quizzed on was politics. They were asked: “Should Thaksin be forgiven and allowed to return?” Of those who answered, 73.3% said “No”.

    the rest is sensationalist crap.

  4. y do you want grass fed?

more to the point, what else to cows eat? i thought they were natures lawn mowers.

Australian Beef seem to be the most available at tesco and Rimping. most probably spinifex fed brahmans from the north, they are the most exported.

from the more southern parts, the angus and wagyus taste better as a steak, but are alot more fatty, so not as good for dehydrating.

either way, for dehydrating (i've made a bit of jerky in the past), go the leaner cuts over the tender cuts ie. topside/silverside with the fat cut off and are cheaper. the fat tastes like crap.

    OT

soy, tomato sauce, worstecier sauce, cracked peper, fresh onion, fresh garlic, fresh chilli, mustard powder, english mustard (and what ever else you find in the cupboard, just nothing with oil/fat/sugar in it) and sea salt to preserve it all into the food processor until it is a puree. cut the beef against the grain, not with it into strips removing the fat. marinate for 12 hours in the fridge then into the dehydrator for 8-12 hours.

    yum yum.

  5. Consider Bosang fishing park, fighting several large catfish in the heat is a nice work out to earn your beer. Take the 1006 (the Narawat Bridge Rd to SanKamphaeng) east outta town, turning left on to the Bosang Handcraft road, the 1014. About 2 - 2.5 km up the road turn left at the big red sign - the are no signs in English, just look a well traveled dirt road.

there is one sign in English, it says "Pepsi". otherwise, bo-sang is good and not too far from town. they have the big boring slimy boot fish (catfish) if size matters to you, but also have plenty of other types if your prepared to trawl a spinner, or throw in a worm. there are a few other parks about i can recommend, though they are punched into my GPS, which i don't have handy atm.

the ping has some fish in it too. if there is water, there is probably fish. the moat, around temples and the national parks are a bit of a no-go apparently.

  6. Air, Fuel, Spark. 3000km, filter should be ok, spark should be ok. you said the fuel evaporated and was hard to start because it had been sitting a while. try do the fuel system cleaning business recommended above. it should come good.

EFI. in the most part simply rely on throttle position, crank position/RPM and exhaust sensor to operate in closed loop mode.

I'm pretty sure the small hondas are open loop systems ie, don't use an exhaust gas sensor (i can't see one obviously on my click), so are relying on throttle position and crank position/RPM for the injector/ignition timings.

my guess (if not the fuel) at worst is your throttle position sensor is acting funky, or your crank position sensor is mis-aligned. NFI how to check/adjust it though if they can be, i've never seen them on the little bikes. On cars, they usually plug in a OBD2 checker which would indicate these things before you would even ask if there was a problem.

Though my experience with the honda dealers in CM is they got NFI. I always put Mobil1 in my click, and in 4 times:

    1) would not put it in unless it had "Honda" on the label, even though the correct grade.

    2) poured the whole 1L into the sump when it only required 700mL

    3) tried to hide the bottle from me to keep the excess

    4) flat tyre. replaced the tube, but didn't remove the barb in the tyre that punctured the tube in the first place.

    5) see 2) again. i watched him this time and had to stop him. he looked at me like i'm an idiot then kept pouring. <deleted> would i know, i'm not the one wearing the honda service t-shirt.

    6) and on all occasions (different dealers), confused as to why i wanted them to sign/fill out the service log at every maintenance interval.

hopefully someone has found a good one to get my bike serviced, let me know please.

  7. how long does it take to grow tukays to a mature age? the lady said that tonight on the news some chinese bloke paid 100,000 baht for one.

i once thought the gum trees growing out in isan could be used to make furniture to sell in australia under the moniker "native australian timber" since it is getting harder to chop down the locally grown stuff.

eh, i'm not going to bother. something to do with the fact that thailand is thailand, and the rest of the world isn't.

  8. What's causing this unseasonal weather is that they are playing with the weather systems. They have been cloud seeding again to make rain. I wish they'd stop as I'm missing the heat.

Are they still using the Casa 212 Aviocars for the cloud seeding? I've seen them flying about of late.
