  1. Was going over there this week to look into this also look into one-piece zirconia implant . I use BIDC but want to see if Silom really has dedicated part of their practice to this trend . Reading so much about titanium implants and see one-piece zirconia implant may be safer and Silom has been using them where other dental clinics don't advertise them . Will report back about what I learn . I met the lady who owns the establishment when I moved to Bangkok and she was very helpful so hope I can speak with her again.

Tit. Implants are the way forward, they actually have a bit of gold in them too. :)

  2. Here's the situation.

I have a lot of pages that need printing out, I don't have a printer myself (too much trouble to get rid off when I leave LoS) and would like to know the best places in Bangkok that can print out B/W pages with text on it.

The size is A4 and the quantity about 200 pages.

The places near me (photography shops etc) are all after rip-off prices as they charge per page but not by bulk. I am on the BTS route.

Anyone a guru on where the paper factory is? :)

  3. First of all the card needs to be cloned.. you have to check where you put your card in, if your a bit observant you can spot the cloning device. Second they need a camera or someone to look at you (or put something over the keypad) to record your pin.

Its not that easy and if you shield your pin good they can clone your card but its still useless. Also many banks have anti cloning slots on the machine.

Nowadays its done with an infrared scanner, just after you put in your PIN. The heat of your fingertips will last for about +/- 15sec, enough to scan the keyboard of the ATM.... The cloning of your card may have been done long before at a different occasion/location...

    Fatfather

That's not very clever as they'll only grab the 4 numbers and not the sequence. The pros use a spycam counting the number of cards cloned to the number of times people use the atm or just an overlay that fits over the keypad.

  4. "to prevent maritime accidents and to secure the waters’ stability to the utmost effectiveness and benefit.”

Sounds like BS to me, most accidents are caused by Thai vessels not foreign.

It is BS, they want to keep a big brother eye on johnny farang to track where you are.

The days of privacy and anonymity at sea (in LoS) are fading fast for independent boaters etc.

I know someone who wanted to get a boat in Thailand to sail about the GoT in. When he got to Surat Thani he was told he HAD to have a Thai National pilot/coxwain (could not be the farang) and a Thai National Engineer (I think in his case he was able to assign the Thai pilot). Plus cough up money to register them both with the boat!

Like a mug he bought the boat and all the trappings the Thais forced on him. He lost over half a million baht in the end plus the coxwain kept the boat! This was quite a few years ago too.

  5. I can trace my family back past 1000 bc but originally we came from the Nordic areas.

But there's a big difference in those at were immigrants 1000 years ago and those just arriving been given free housing benefits and health care at the expense of those here now and working. Some of the UKIP do look a bit odd though

Yes, a big difference between the Nordic immigrants, i.e. Vikings, and their Germanic predecessors the Angles, Saxons and Jutes, who first came to Britain to rape and pillage and then stayed after stealing the land of the indigenous, Celtic/Romano British population!

You are aware there was a war going on between non-Christian Europe and Heathen / Pagan Europe right? The reason they were putting them to the sword was because their own kindred were being slaughtered by Charlemagne's cronies. You are aware also that you didn't bother with the P. Correct BS they are trying out now (which is pretty much a failure in the long-term).

They were probably much more humane and less bloodthirsty than the nonsense you've been taught at school about them.

To summarize, EU will hopefully breakup and Europe will go it's separate ways while keeping true to one-another with trade and prosperity. :)

  6. This is beacuse Cameron is running scared of UKIP and his own back bench MP's, it's a combination of posturing and cynical political expediency. There is no way Cameron wants out of the EU or, given his past track record, managing a sucessful renegotiation of the UK's membership of the EU.He is held in thrall to the Euro Sceptics in his party to which he has to pander

He recently used language like 'applying the hand brake' with regards to immigration, despite the fact that levels of immigration from EU countries are the same as they were during Labour.

TBH, I am sick and tired of this old re-fried, re-hashed immigration red herring, It dominates every discussion about UK domestic politics. It's a disraction from the 'real issues' in the UK i.e. housing, 30 bn sterling shortfall in NHS funding, wealth inequality, the break up of the UK, jobs and salaries, etc.

I agree with all your points, the UK is sinking into a debt spiral, half the newly borrowed funds are now going to pay the interest on the existing loans. The UK's % of debt to GDP is actually slightly higher than France's. There is a severe housing crisis, the NHS can not possibly continue to exist etc.

I really wanted to point out I did a driving tour of 15 European countries of a 23 week period this summer and I can day on my mums grave I never met anyone who had anything good to say about the EU and everyone wanted out and I do mean 100%, that included every German I met. The open door immigration was the number one issue, far fewer were worried about the EU being essential bust. As the debts continue to rise debt will become the number one issue. let's not forget the EU's auditors have refused to sign off the books for the last 19 years, what does that tell us?

I agree, the EU was all about the upper-elites, the big corporations and so on that want cheap labor, out-sourced abroad. The lower-ranks didn't even get a look in, there was no recent EU referendum (that I know of) it was one-day we were independent countries trying to get along despite an apocalyptic duo of wars decimating folks, then along came EU-land!

The Europeans want their currency back, their free-markets back (without Brussels interfering) and most of all their countries back!

  7. Mormon Church Admits For First Time That Founder Joseph Smith Had A 14-Year-Old Bride

Ask them about the latest news story. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/27/mormon-joseph-smith-teen-bride_n_6054272.html

    Big deal.

The essay noted that while inappropriate by today's standards, marriage among teen girls was legal and somewhat common during that time.

Also in LoS young girls as brides and mistresses etc hardly raise eyebrows either.

  8. I,m sorry but I just don,t believe these figures ! Having been in business here for well over 30 years, to be told that indians and ragheads spend a lot more per day than british tourists is absolute nonsense !

Well, they might not want to do business with an idiot who calls them "ragheads."

Given they have a lowly reputation with the latest shenanigans in the ME I think business might be booming :)

  9. I smell that the guy shot those other soldiers because they might have abused him or looked down on him.

I have a friend who serves in the Thai Navy and his back is full of scares and during the first 3 months he was tortured.

Thailand is divided between the North and the South. The army sends Southern soldiers to Isaan as they don't trust Isaan soldiers in the Northeast and Isaan soldiers are send to the South.

Isaan people hate to deal with the Southern Thai's and going even to the deep South to be deployed is the last on their minds.

Their should be no alcohol at any of those barracks in the Deep South.

Looking at Thailand I wonder what will happened over the next 10 years.

You have the North and Northeast that have a dislike for Bangkok and on top 3 Southern provinces that have been at war with Bangkok.

No alcohol would mean they'd just brew up hooch and fire-water. A two-can or two-bottle rule would be wiser. That's how we had it over in the Balkans while on ops.

  10. Things are going downhill on the skytrain. Used to be a cool place, not so crowded. Now it would put the london tube to shame!

I think that actually means it's successful.

Not for the poor saps that have to ride on it cheek to jowl!

I'm all for them making some dingle-money but add some carriages on and ease the crowding!

  11. If I read your post right every time you overstayed was because you lost your passport? Thats why you went to immigration to pay fine and get emergency travel document---why did you not just apply for replacement passport at your embassy here in Thailand? Then could have just gone to airport paid fine and left. Let us know what the Thai Visa Service says about if your blacklisted or not. Immigration could bar you for a year, 3, 5, or life.

When losing passport you need to get a new entry stamp in new passport! You can not go trough immigration at airport with empty passport. Need entry stamp. Embassy gives passport - but need to go to immigration to get stamp.

I have contacted visaservices as suggested and waiting for their reply, will give info when have...

He's right, back in the day you could do the 'lose passport' get 'clean' one from your embassy. I know this as there were folks on the islands with dodgy immigration stamps (done by non-immigration Thais for $$) and were being deported left and right.

One guy, an american, basically did what the OP did but they gave him a full passport not an emergency one. This was back in 2004 when the thais hadn't caught on to the loophole.

  12. If they tighten up the rules, the types of tourists that make up these stats will quit coming. The present situation encourages them to come and their deaths dont scare off tourists that behave themselves.

Care to elaborate? Are you proposing all tourists be banned?

I remember about a year ago of a middle aged respectable Australian lady travel agent who was walking down the street and got stabbed to death in daytime in Phuket. Are you trying to say she was part of the "type of tourist" that had it coming?

nope, leave everything as is. its not too dangerous if you use your common sense and behave rationally. as for the anecdotal stabbing cases, those happen in my home country too.

Yep, a lot of the fools clamoring for massive reforms will get more than they bargained for. LoS would become Land of OTT Enforcement!
