  1. I definitely wouldn't fight for Thailand, and would treat their offer of citizenship with the disdain it deserves.

I have already saved the life of two Thais by paying hundreds of thousands in hospital bills, am raising two and supporting others.

They should probably consider me a national hero, but alas....

Why did you pay hundreds of thousands in hospital bills for two Thais, are raising two and supporting others? Just curious as that would be a strange attitude to have if they were members of your own family, because I certainly would not considering raising my kids as raising three Thais and I do not understand what you mean by supporting others? In which way are you giving them support? Just curious because it all sounds rather weird.

Nothing curious or weird about Farangs supporting Thai Family,it's common place, happens all the time!

That's what is so weird about it. ;)

  2. I'd fight just for the destiny of it, better a death in battle than old age etc. Ideally I'd prefer to fight in Europe for but I'm only there part of the year.

So yes, but not out of subservience or glowing radiance for Thailand.

I can tell you that unless there's an invasion of apocalyptic proportions Thais would despise foreigners being involved in any fight.

Thais have historically been wary of foreigners with powerful weapons, during the Siege of Ayuthaya they sent away a farang warship with cannons that could have broken the siege and driven off the Burmese.

  3. Bangkok Hospital has an excellent hearing center that I strongly recommend, Had tests there for tinnitus as requested by the U,S, Veterans Administration,

If it's recent, then a good idea to get it checked out, as it can be treatable in some cases e.g. ear wax removal.

I tried the ear wax removal before. While it cleaned out my lugs the tinnitus got worse! :(

  4. How long have you had it? I got tinnitus after what I think was a virus - had a severe headache for 24 hours that resolved quickly. Was in the bathroom one day and the ringing started....several years down the track still have it. I didn't bother to see a doctor, as there is nothing that can be done about it, unless there is a miracle cure that I'm not aware of. Hopefully yours is a temporary condition and it will resolve itself. Perhaps someone else can recommend a hearing specialist.

I've had it for about six months now but today it just got about 3 times louder!

Before I didn't mind it too much as it was background static, this level is horrible.

  5. Got a mad buzzing in my lugs and it's not going away!

Is there anyone else suffering from tinnitus? I haven't been listening to loud noises recently but have been in noisy environments previously.

Can anyone recommend a good doctor / specialist in Bangkok?

  6. That'll deter a few yobs and wanke_rs from setting up in Thailand.

It's a good policy to keep out the riff-raff.

Perhaps yes, BUT, it also affects the genuine folk who have been taking care of Thai nationals for years. Perhaps places like Hull have been dishing out Visas purely for the financial gain. Have read that non UK EU folk were posting applications to Hull cos they were an easy touch.

You can't get visa's at Hull if you are non UK.

  7. I don't think he has been in Thailand that long or he would know that only Thais can do that job and has no work permit to allow him to do it.

    Silly boy.

isn't he Luk Khrung or a thai who joined the U.S Military? The report says Thai-American.

Take a look at his picture on page 1, he sure looks bi-racial to me.

I wonder what the outcome is going to be? A fine? A slap on the wrist? Tea-money?

  8. "This is a special piece of art made by a British woman who sculpted it from raw metal"

"A Burmese mystical experience inspired it's creation..."

I suppose the word "awesome" means different things to different people.

Exactly how a British woman claiming to have had a mystical experience in Burma fits into the greater scheme of things in Bangkok remains a mystery since there's no shortage of either Thai artists or people claiming to have had mystical experiences in Thailand, especially in Patpong in Bangkok or Beach Rd in Pattaya. Probably a search could even have turned up a Thai artist who had a mystical experience at the Sofitel Hotel.

I suppose the "raw metal" clinched the deal.

Well Naysayer, unless the British man who is the partner to the sculpturess is a pathalogical liar the tale is true. I am pretty good at spotting liars and I know a true story when I hear one. I also can tell the great unwashed from the real deal faily well also.

Still it's easier to dismiss than to dream big and make your desires a reality.

  9. With the recent crackdown on the Multi-entry - 12 month 'friends and family' visa I wondering if they grant them for farang's who are unmarried, but have a 1 year lease on an apartment or house?

I seem to recall someone saying they got one ok doing it this way as they show 'ties to Thailand' or something like that?

I'm expecting a wall of skepticism and nay-sayers but maybe there's something.....

  10. Just to let you know, that the latest 'thing' to scam farang's on is water.

The usual deal is you pay for your noodles, som tam, whatever and if you want water you pay for it, either by a few baht for ice and water from a jug.

Well nowadays the deal is for you to buy a bottle of the stuff. So about 10 baht.

WELL, the latest addition to this is the scam angle.

You do all that and when you come to take the bottle home with you the vendor scam is to keep the water and bottle!!! EVEN IF YOU'VE PAID FOR WATER!

You might be saying why are you taking the bottle home?

Well, unless you drink like a horse, normally half a bottle is left after drinking it with a meal.

So my advice is take your own water with you if your going to eat at the vendor places where they do this :)

The scam's are suprising even this jaded hand and I wonder what on earth they'll come up with next??!!

  11. waiting patiently for the anti-Thai brigade to march in and claim that all published figures are fraudulent, the economy is on the verge of collapsing and the Baht falling in the abyss vs. <insert preferred currency>.

For once in a blue moon, I find myself agreeing with what Mr Worf has to say.

Any country that's in debt up to its eyeballs is failing its people and putting it into the murky territory of foreign ownership.

Something Thailand hopefully will never have to endure :)

  12. Poets are weirdos.

I never understood why at school we were asked to study the work of people who were obviously mentally disturbed drug addicts ...like if as teenagers we didn't already have enough mental problems on our own

With an attitude like that, there'd be no story's getting written and society would be a much darker place than it is now...

I guess Shakespear and Marlowe were doped up individuals too then?:whistling:
