I just had 13 days of the worst chest cold / lung infection of my life.
Usually the air quality doesn’t bother me and I have never smoked.
When I had before I took Azithromycin and Prednisone and 2-4 das back to OK.
Noth this time.......I ended up in E R because I couldn’t breathe
I've been coming here for 20 years and I've just spent a month in central Thailand. Usually my mild asthma improves when I've been here a few days but this time it became much worse. I think the general air quality is quite bad at the moment and this will be a factor in picking up chest infections.

I remember seeing something about using a powerful enough magnet to destroy any data, but you'll likely have to remove the HD's to do it....and find a big ol' magnet.
MICROWAVE for a few seconds till it sparks
The ONLY full proof way to ensure all data is permanently destroyed is to incinerate the HDD.
Formatting or installing a fresh version of windows does not erase all the data it only hides it.
I usually buy inexpensive USB 3.0 caddies and reuse the HDDs as external drives, always handy as a backup device. If you're really worried about sensitive data then you can completely overwrite the drive using a free software programs such as CCleaner. This will write random zeros and ones over exiting data but you have to run this a number of times to be sure it's unreadable. Unless you're a spy or master criminal most people just format it and carry on.

How do you test that it has worked?

Do you have to go to Immigration in your own country? i don't!
I stand in front of immigration in my own country every time I return to it and leave again. How do you do it?
In the UK you don't see immigration on the way out and go through automatic doors on the way in.

Perhaps if they had a a no preexisting conditions clause, a B5,000 co-pay for each visit and did not cover non-life threatening issues like new knees, hips and whatnot.
It wouldn't be difficult to work out a profitable scheme which could include an annual excess payment which will stop people attending every five minutes with a cold.

so many.
My wife is always telling me this. My son spent the first years in the UK but started Thai school in October. He can already speak a lot of Thai but complains he isn't always allowed out at play time because he must help the English teacher write the words on the board as she cannot spell them. He's the only half in the the school so is a bit of a celebrity and already has a girl fan club following him around ???? which he doesn't like. I'm sure that will change in a few years. ????

OK a number of people are implying that the defendants bought their way to freedom but here's my take on the story;
The defendants fell foul of the police for whatever reason, didn't pay enough or a Mr big wanted the club, so the police raid the joint and arrest the defendant and the girls. They discover that some of the girls are not Thai and tell them they will be prosecuted for prostitution and go to jail before being deported unless they claim to have been trafficked and act a witness' against their former employers. The girls would jump at this and the first trial was very successful for the police. However, two years down the line the defence lawyer has now had time to pick holes in the girls testimony and the girls are a lot less keen to tell lies again. They would struggle to remember the details of their lies and the court would see this which is why they gave the benefit of the doubt to the defendants. The police don't care about the acquittal as the defendants have been out of the picture for two years so job done.

The title should be changed. There's no such thing as a Thai Christmas. The poster meant he was spending Christmas in Thailand which means something different.
In general, you'll only see Christmas displays in cities where there are likely to be tourists. Otherwise, it's 'business as usual'. My grandson took a day off school for Christmas day, and that means sending him to school with a letter explaining his absence!
Not true. I'm in Nakhon Sawan and its xmas everywhere and this is certainly not a tourist city. Central park is a mass of decorations and lights as are all the shops and restaurants.
The photo is from my village in the suburbs. I'm the only farang on the development so I'm sure it wasn't erected for my benefit.

He said the measure is expected to be launched soon.
Translation : They would wait for it to go down on its own and take the credit by making up some fanciful policy in retrospect
They keep making these statements and the doing nothing. I expect they are hoping one of them will coincide with the actual fall of the THB and then take the plaudits. I bet they're bringing in all sorts of different fortune tellers to predict the fall. The one that get's it right will be rewarded handsomely. 19th century government in action.

Thank you for starting this thread. As an asthma sufferer I would like to thank all the contributors for interesting and informative information. I shall certainly be looking into purchasing an air purifier.

I would guess that is at Phuket immigration. The have decided on their own not to accept monthly transfers for an extension based upon marriage. If you have proof of the source of the income such as pension statement it might be accepted.
I did mine using transfers into my bank in August at the office here in Ubon.
My friend here in Nakhon Sawan wanted to change from retirement to marriage extension but was told by the head IO that monthly transfers would not be acceptable for marriage extensions in the future so don't bother. I thought they just couldn't be bothered with the extra work involved with the change of extension but maybe she was telling the truth. This was a few weeks ago.

It's a shame you can't buy those turkey breast portions that are sold in the west. Easily a good meal for two with those, and would fit in my counter top oven too.
They are called Turkey crowns in the UK and are usually excellent.

Article author doesn't know about the possible no trade deal problem causing GBP to temporarily drop.
A necessary threat to get a good deal as opposed to a turd trade deal to be offered by EU
Exactly. As soon as Boris stated that a no deal is still on the table the pound dropped again. No deal is a necessary evil if he's any chance of securing a decent trade deal with the EU.

Protesters from "Extinction Rebellion" in London brought much of the capital to a standstill in an effort to make the government act. One protester climbed on a tube train and was attacked by angry commuters. One had to despair for the world.
It was actually a number of protesters who climbed on trains and disrupted good honest people from going to work. People who have got up at 6.30 am to get their train to work but were stopped for doing so by people who don't seem to have to work. Most people are worried by climate change but earning a living is more important to them personally. Keep your protests to the streets around government and leave people to get on with their lives. Support for Extinction Rebellion waned enormously after this sorry train protest.

Have lived and worked in Thailand full time from 2002. Mainly in Bangkok where I was a daily user of BTS. Just returned from a 3 month trip overseas, went today to BTS OnNut to top up 500 baht on my Rabbit card and was astonished when the girl demanded my passport which I did not have on me. Luckily the pink ID card did the job.
So another good use for the so called useless Pink ID card.

A similar hospital thing happened to me last year when going to a govt eye hospital....showed them my passport and Pink ID card during the registration process....they quickly handed me back my passport (only glanced at it) and didn't use it for registration because they used my Pink ID card instead.
When you check in to a public hospital they need your name address and ID number for the computer. If you don't have an ID number they have to check you in as an alien and you then get charged more. Having an ID number similar to a Thai ID makes it so much easier for the girl to check you in. Obviously private hospitals are not the same.

Another spin is that it's not what the Thai line is for. I have same partner 7 yes up and we travel often. Never once used the "Thai line". I see guys tacked alone with the gf, wife, partner etc in the Thai line..... queue jumpers.
I disagree. The Thai line is for Thai families who can't use the auto gates. I'm a member of a Thai family together with my wife and son. As we approach the passport control we are usually invited to use the Thai line. Disabled people and the over 70s are also allowed to use the Thai and fast track lines so they don't have to stand so long.

As I think all thais use the automatic gates which can not use by most foreigners.
There is still a Thai line as Thai children cannot use the auto gates.

All of which you can also use your pink ID, although with the flight, the name on the ticket must be in Thai to match the ID card.
At clinics and hospitals you can register by just using a pink ID card but can't using a driving licence. You were just using your DL as an alternative form of photo ID.
belong to 4 govt hospitals ,all accepted my driving licence
Queen Sirakit
Banglamung
Sri Racha
And one in BKK
You need an ID number to get Thai prices. You've registered at these hospitals as an Alien and will be charged accordingly. The pink ID card allows you to register as a Thai with a Thai name (as shown on the ID card) and get Thai prices.

I would suggest that the unfortunate lady pulled out from her usual riding position on the left, without checking and broadsided into the truck. The truck driver could do nothing prevent this at all.
The truck driver would have a better view of the road sitting in his high position and could see the lane is closed on the left so should have slowed down and given way to merging traffic. Maybe he thought she would slow down and merge behind him.
