And I won't believe these assertions until there is 5 years of data backing the claims.  Until then, this all is a live trial experiment with too short of a time line to make accurate observations no less accurate predictions.

No body is making predictions only observations and the observations so far are accurate. Perhaps you would like to wait 5 years before you vaccinate people just to make sure the observations are accurate? Meanwhile another 15 million people die.

I have booked changeable flight through Doha direct to Phuket mid-July, but can't book hotel until sure I don't need ASQ.

I booked the same mid July with Emirates via Dubai (it includes free Covid travel insurance btw) but they have just notified me that my flight has been cancelled so perhaps they are better informed than we are. ????

I wonder what they are going to do with the ones who are vaccinated, enter Covid negative, but later found to be Covid positive as has happened in UK, Aust and Canada when in quarantine. It deemed less likely to be severe infection, but possibly still able to transmit.

Well I presume they wont be allowed to leave the island as that is the whole point of quarantine.

So it seems having the vaccine means the person is ok but I thought the virus can stay on clothes and  stuff for long time.so I person could bring it in...

    Common question Wiki Answer

How long can the virus causing COVID-19 survive on surfaces?

On many surfaces, including as glass, some types of plastic, stainless steel, and skin, the virus can remain infective for several days indoors at room temperature, or even about a week under ideal conditions. On some surfaces, including cotton fabric and copper, the virus usually dies after a few hours.

If they do open up in October, and stick with the 'within the last 16 days' rule then all those vaccinated between niw and mid Seotember will not qualify! Absolute lunacy

It says no less than, so you have to have the vaccine more than 14 days before travel.

The maximum efficacy of a vaccination takes 10 to 15 days so that rule makes sense.

Why should that concern them if they've been vaccinated?  None of the vaccines give 100% protection against Covid 19 but there's not a lot of point in getting vaccinated if you're going to worry and behave as if you haven't had it.

Or should we get vaccinated and stay home, walk 2m apart and not meet people from other households?

All the main vaccines give over 90% protection from catching the virus but if you do catch it the vaccine gives you 100% protection from getting seriously ill and even after your first dose, which gives you 70% protection from getting the virus, you still get 100% protection from getting seriously ill. You can still catch the virus and give it to other people even though you have been inoculated. Right from the start one in three people were naturally immune to this virus and showed little or no symptoms which is why it spread world wide so easily. The only area of concern is if a variant emerges which the vaccine is ineffective against.

Herd immunity is a holy grail imo.  It won't be achieved by any vaccine.  And as soon as a new variant comes along we're back to more outbreaks.

If you think about it, why we are so concerned with covid19 is because it has the singular ability to play havoc with the immune system. With vaccinations, it simply becomes another cold/URTI.  Better to concentrate on saving lives than dream of the unobtainable.

It has always been hit and miss. A few years ago I sometimes I would drink 5 large bottles and not feel a thing, the next time I would be off my 3KZ after 4 bottles.

You are correct as that used to be the case. The brewery is close to where I usually live, Nakhon Sawan, and I met some Austrian guys a few years back who were working in the brewery to try and correct the productivity issues. They told me their checks showed the the vol varied from 3% to 14%

The senior one did ask 2 surprise questions, 1 why dont I change from retirement extension to marriage to save money in the bank and 2 why do I not volunteer at the local school?

1 don't need any more paperwork and 2, you (the IO) don't allow it without a work permit.

and you cannot get a work permit while on a retirement extension which is possibly why he's suggesting you change to marriage extension and teach his kids for free ????

Rush 555, 8 months now and counting with nothing much on the horizon apart from 3 month tourist visa 14 days ASQ. After watching a few videos on ASQ tonight on YouTube, it's not for me and nor is the limited tested vaccines.

    Maybe you should rethink it.

Sunny and warm here great golf and beach weather, places are open with minimal Covid inconveniences.

But hey, if you prefer to be stuck in the cold and wet in a locked down country with with high hospitalizations and deaths and no Covid relief in sight possibly for many months, then good luck.

Sounds totally depressing to me. So happy to be in LOS.

I can fly to the Canary Islands from the UK after Dec 2nd and only have to fill in an online form. Nice and sunny and plenty of golf - not as hot as Thailand but only 4 hour flight from UK. I'll leave Thailand until the vaccines all kick in and entry is less restricted.

  12. Pandemics are caused by infected people travelling so airlines, international ferries and cruises will all be insisting on vaccination certificates. If you choose not to be vaccinated then you will exclude yourself from that freedom, at least until the virus is no longer a threat.

All viruses mutate so the vaccine will continue to be developed just like the flu vaccine.

I keep my UK number going in Thailand and My Thai number going when out of Thailand. So which number is used for verification sms both are available.

Are you on a low priced plan for your UK #, or using a low priced carrier?

I too have a UK sim and Thai sim. The UK sim is with Plusnet £6 a month 2.5GB data, unlimited calls and texts and I have a Pay as you go AIS sim. My phone has two sim slots so both are active all the time. I'm stuck in the UK at the moment so I send an occasional text with my AIS sim as Thai carriers are notorious for tuning off pay as you go sims if they're inactive.

It is a re-badge Chinese Maxus T60, I have never seen a Maxus T60 in LOS, but perhaps there are.

The Chinese have bought the "British" MG name to sell stuff...

If you do a search for Maxus T60 for any probs it may help you...You may have to do a Chinese language course though...????

    No need to learn Chinese.
