A meeting took place at Pattaya City Hall on Wednesday afternoon to address the new policy to be enforced on Jet Ski and water sport operators in Pattaya and Jomtien. Deputy Mayor Ronnakit Aegasing chaired the discussion along with all relevant authorities. They addressed a number of complaints made by tourists against operators, especially when an accident occurs, when tourists believed they were being ripped off by being overcharged for compensation. A Committee will be set up to oversee these operators. Under the control of City Hall a fixed compensation guide will be created, and the Committee will be responsible for negotiating and agreeing on compensation between tourists and operators.

  2. Yesterday, I saw one of those guys just North of Mike's kicking a tourist: At around 3:00pm, a British (or Aussie) gentleman was observing the sky renters (from the pedestrian foot path) for may-be too long when one of the mafia guys approached him and started to insult him about watching but not renting. The verlang started to back off saying he didn't want to rent and the mafia guy started to kick him in the leg.He walked away. I don't know if he was watching a scam in progress (I didn't care to stick around) or if is a new step in their marketing approach: coercive rental!

In the last 12 months i have seen a few tourists assaulted for just looking and others knocked over for taking photo's that location you are talking about there are more scams there than anywhere else and police have been given plenty of complaints but wont go near the place.

It would be interested to know if law enforcement officers or pattaya city hall officials own some of the skis.

  3. There is another woman that was seen taking gold from a victims neck one night near central , a photo of her was put on the Pattaya future facebook page and after that she was off the beach for a few weeks but she is back on the beach and works with her partner a short guy with colour through the hair always drunk and involved in many scams they work between soi 10 and soi 13 and use a motorbike with side cart.

The same woman and her gang were reported for extoring money from a young farang at the A.T.M s in central shopping mall but they still operate.

They are just another cog in the wheel of this large criminal gang running the beach in full view of cameras . Drink vendors are lookouts for people taking photos.

When certain people in high places will not answer questions or take action against this group it just shows how dangerous it is to rent jet skis.

Pattaya City hall should be taken to task by embassy officials from all countries on their abilty to protect tourists on Pattaya beach.

All we hear is its being investigated or we will have another meeting yet robbery and extortion continues almost everyday.

The mafia will continue to run the beach until all jet skies are banned for good.

  5. City Hall failure to regulate jet skis costs Ukrainian tourists 30,000 baht

Despite city hall pledges to crack down on Pattaya’s scurrilous jet ski rental industry, tourists continue to fall victim to scammers with a group of Ukrainians taking the latest beating from extortionists.

Police were called to the beachfront near Welcome Plaza hotel in South Pattaya Dec. 8 to find two female and one male 20s-age Ukrainians arguing with Sorayut Je-mad, 34, and Nattapoom Poomnok, 25. The two Thais were demanded the Ukrainians pay about 78,000 baht for alleged scratches to jet skis they rented in front of the Royal Garden Plaza.

  6. For what its worth, after reading of the Ukranians dragged by their throats to their hotels, I emailed the British consulate to say that attacks and robbery on all nationalities were going on unchecked in Pattaya and many other places and that they should be issuing much stronger warnings to potential visitors.

I am not sure though if I emailed to the best address or really where or who I really need to email. I would also like to send the same email to other embassies. Also, maybe email isn't the best form of comminication in this case?

I know this will probably have no impact and it has been done before, but I really felt disgusted by what I last read and want to atleast make some kind of effort.

Does anyone know who/where should be emailed in the embassies or anyone else?

  7. Pattaya Jet Ski Operators detain tourists

"Jet ski Pattaya" caused damage to the good image of Pattaya, beating and detaining Ukraine tourists and demanding 100,000 Baht for the damage which was much expensive than the actual cost.

Pattaya, December 8, 2011[PDN]; At 7.00 p.m.Pattaya police, Chonburi province together with tourist police from 4 control division 2, rushed to investigate in front of the Welcome hotel, 2nd Pattaya road, south Pattaya after having been notified by the Ukrainian tourists that they had been beaten and detained by jet ski rental operatives and demanded a sum that was more expensive than the real cost.

  11. Jet Ski Con Artists

On Thursday night, the Pattaya and the Tourist Police were called to deal with a case of abducting, assaulting and threatening Ukrainian tourists by local jet ski operators. A minor accident had happened with the jet skis, and the operators demanded that the tourists pay a huge amount of money for some small scrapes on the jet skis.

At the scene, 5 Ukranians 2 women and 3 men, and 2 jet ski operators met with the officers. The tourists stated that they rented 3 jet skis from Mr. Srayut Jemahd, aged 34 and Mr. Nattapum Pumnok, aged 25, in front of the Royal Garden Plaza, for 700 Baht each, and for half an hour of time.

As the parties could come to no agreement, Mr. Srayut choked one of the lady tourists, then dragged her and her 2 friends off to the hotel room to get the money.

  12. This type of thing goes on almost everyday once you rent a jet ski and you advise what hotel you are staying they go after big baht .

It's not just the thugs on the beach it's must be corrupt police that help .

Two weeks ago opposite soi 11 The scammer threw bottles at 4 Russians after they refused to pay extortion money.

The same scammers are still on the beach.

  13. theres really only one person doing it that I can see, the fat lady at soi 11 who latter on sells beer down the beach at night. she runs the whole thing with her gang of young thugs. she must be related to someone in the police

Time you either became more observant or got those new glasses.

You're having a laugh or are naive beyond redemption if you think some fat Oprah runs the extortion.

I agree with Wans she has a lot to do with it and it sounds like Wans knows a bit more .

There are three or four ladies involved one I think is blacklisted but turns up quite often.

A couple of weeks ago a big fat guy who works in the soi 11 lot punched an Indian in the face the old lady told him to get on his jet ski and go before the police came.

The is one big Thai guy that hangs out around Pattaya walk I am sure he is the ringleader and has the police contacts.

When the scams were totally out if control earlier in the year he would turn up late afternoon and give all the orders , I watched a group of 6 Japanese one day go out and within minutes he was getting the thugs ready for the scam.

Another day he said to a tourists dont you care about your life.

There is another guy I have named floral shorts he is one of the worst on the beach I think he has been blacklisted but still turns up everyday never stops drinking and usually always had atleast two or three victims a day.

Do you have any photo's of these guys?

I personally dont have many but thanks to stridermans collection i will have a look and grab some of his if any are there I will put them up in a couple of days.

  15. Not trying to defend the boats I hate them but many times I have seen swimmers go a long way out when jet skis and boats are very close and the only thing visible is a head that can be hard to see In the water.

What is wrong I s that people have been killed before in Thailand from being hit by boats/ jet ski 's .

Safety regulations are not adequate in this country and Thai authorities don't seem to do anything about it.
