  1. umm not all there where some in the latest pictures that looked like they belonged to air asia... but not sure.

It was mentioned in a news article (UK Times?) in another thread. And someone else mentioned that they saw planes from no-longer-functioning airlines and a plane without engines.

I seriously doubt that airlines would leave their planes at a soon to be flooded airport.

But happy to see evidence of anything else. Which latest pictures are you referring to?

  2. While Yingluck & Company can be, and should be, blamed for the mismanagement of this situation, they can't be blamed for the flood itself. And no one can convince me that any other government could/would do a better job.

This pathetic excuse for a government maybe not be able to be blamed for the rain but they are certainly 100% guilty for the volume, timing and extent of the flooding. Who was the PTP member who expressly ordered the RIA not to release water from the dangerously overfull dams prior to the monsoon season even though RIA strongly advised releasing water? When dams became so full that there was the chance of breaching or, even worse, collapse massive amounts of water had to be released in a very short time. One dam (I don't recall which) was reported to be at 136% of storage capacity prior to water being released. That should be a criminal offence.

The vast amount of suffering and death could have been avoided had the proper and timely release of water been enacted. Frustrations are running high now however I will predict that things will get a lot worse before too long. People are sick of being unnecessarily flooded out and as more of BKK is flooded it will become nigh on impossible for the folks who stayed to protect their properties to get necessary provisions. I speak from a place of knowledge as we are flooded out and we don't even know where to go and get simple goods like rice, noodles, eggs etc.

It's too late for us however all we want is to have this stinking water drained to the sea as quickly as possible. The conflicting reports about how long we can expect to remain flooded (Yingluck said a few days ago 45 to 60 days, then she said we are over the worse of it. The BKK Governor changes his tune as often as he takes in another breath. Don't get me stared on the idiots in FROC) certainly frustrate me and while I am not someone who would take direct action I can fully understand while other folks might and will.

This situation will get a whole lot uglier in the not too distant future.

That person who made the decision not to let the water go earlier has a lot to answer for and I agree with you this whole situation will get much worst before better.

  3. There was no threat of a strike? Really?

Evident by his previous posts in this thread, Chooka has no idea what he is talking about and instead of using personal experience or researched facts he is just trying to argue this issue with assumptions.

What he was refering to was the BLF and he was quite correct. Unions can't just strike they must give 3 days written notice also so that is hardly a threat.

Earlier, Mr Joyce said the drawn-out industrial campaign by three unions was serious and impacting the airline's bottom line.

He said rolling strikes had cost the company $68 million.

  4. Joyce doesn't give a nuts about QANTAS. He is just wanting to strip it down and receive whatever performance bonus he has negotiated to strip it down. Much like the waterfront workers strike, except in that case the waterfront workers were far more militant beforehand. he is looking to get rid of staff and re hire overseas workers at a pittance.

I am glad that someone here knows the motives of Qantas' Alan Joyce. It is ALL about replacing Australian employees with cheaper overseas employees. And Qantas used the same firm of solicitors as used in the Patricks waterfront lockout!

Just have a look at the cabin crew on Jetstar (A subsidiary of Qantas, formed with the idea in mind of hiring cheap overseas staff). The overseas cabin crew staff are paid a mere fraction of what the Australian cabin crew are paid. All on individual contracts, so I can imagine what they will be offered when it is time to renew their contracts.

Jetstar is not just Australian they have Jetstar Asia and the market is very competitive all companies have to make a profit and if Australians demand to much they miss out.

How many people have Australian televisions in theirs homes ?

No one because Australia cannot compete.

  5. Rolling coverage: Industrial action terminated with Qantas set fly again

The marathon 12-hours video hearing, held in Melbourne but linked to hearings in Canberra and Sydney, left the full bench under president Geoffrey Guidice with the choice of leaving Qantas grounded, or getting the airline flying by suspending or terminating the right of the airline and unions to take any action against each other.

The decision is a win for Qantas and the Gillard Government. Minister Bill Shorten said:

"Fair Work Australia has upheld the application of the Gillard Government. We are conscious of the tens of thousands of travellers stranded in Australia and across the world. We were aware that the economy was at risk of great danger. We were aware that the industrial action between the unions and Qantas needed to come to a halt."

  6. Aussie court ends Qantas strike, fleet grounding

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) -- An Australian court has ended the union strikes and abrupt grounding of Qantas Airways fleet after it stranded tens of thousands of passengers.

The court ruled early Monday morning after hearing more than 14 hours of testimony from the airline, the Australian government and unions. Workers have held strikes and refused overtime work out of worry that some of Qantas' 35,000 jobs would be moved overseas in a restructing plan.

The airline argued the strikes disrupted operations and it needed certainty to continue operating.

  7. Putting the dots together with a bit more resesarch and you may find connections with TAT and have reason to question if connections control the whole country .

It may also explain why complaints of jet Ski scams to TAT have gone unanswered.

This issue needs to be taken on as a National concern it may have more impact if central government pursue it and not close their eyes.

  8. Yes its a great move by the CEO...alienate your customers and antagonise the workforce still further. Brilliant.

No doubt anyone who has a flight with Qantas or its codeshare partners will be leaping for joy over this move. Mind you those partners are just as cavalier about passengers needs.

You have thousands of passengers stranded around the world because of this stupid move. Given Qanta's record over the last 2 yrs with engines exploding and pieces falling of the planes and now this it will definately deter future customers from flying with them. I would predict that in 5 yrs Qantas will be no longer around. You can fly with Thai Airways on the same routes for a 3rd of the price and 100% better service. The cost of1st class with thai will get you cattle class on Qantas.

Your running them down for calling this action yet in the same sentence your saying there prices are to high.

Don't you understand they are taking this action to remain competitive?

By taking this action they have told their customers they have poor relations with their workforce and don't care a jot for their travel plans. Qantas is now permanently on my don't fly list.

    Edit: sp

So it's ok for unions to call the strike but not the airline ?

These unions have not backed down they were warned further action from them would cost jobs .

They gave Joyce no option and it's about time.

  10. National service should never have been stopped most of these whingers would not know what hard work is.

I dont disagree with unions but when it comes to demanding to much and they could potentially bankrupt this airline this is when they cross the line.

  11. flood.htm

Made this file with the help of another TV-er.

can see Chaopraya and canals clearly. Lardprao canal rises and falls with chaopraya

    well done again.

    Great link thanks

  12. The scene I saw yesterday was really sickening.

The jet ski guy was yelling at the tourists and they were being surrounded by the beach thugs, intent on robbing these tourists.

For every report you see here, there are probably a hundred more that go unreported.

I walk the beach almost every day and once in a while I do not see a scam. About 90% of the time, I do see it happening.

It's much more common to witness a robbery on the beach than not when taking a walk.

I would not be surprised if they have killed tourists and covered it up.

I have had the same thoughts as you Paul and now and again reports pop up of unidentied body found in bay , I have also read that the media are advised not to do follow stories .

Just go to the beach any day and you will never see any law enforcement around areas such as soi 11 or near royal garden these are protected areas for the scammers .

Yesterday I saw 4 lots of robberies they were tourists from India only walked the beach once it's almost asbad now as it was last year.

  13. The Pattaya Jet Ski Scam Still Going Strong

Interesting to see that some of the people in these pictures are still doing exactly the same thing that they were back in March one particular man with floral shorts stands out and works opposite soi 11 where some indian tourists have been assaulted recently.
