  1. ^^ Nimby! that's a new word for me, guess it serves to make people feel guilty if they complain!

Anybody who will gladly accept a cell phone tower emitting electromagnetic radiation right next to their home would have to be nuts!

Off course its completely harmless isn't it, the powers that be have told us so, believe so at your own risk!

low energy, non-ionising radiation from a cell tower will cause you no ill effect. Sticking that cellphone to your ear on the other hand......

Not true. Cell towers "talk" to each other and a main station via Microwave transmissions. This is what worries me.

In my opinion there needs to be a "safety zone" around cell towers.

You have a microwave oven in the kitchen ?

That will kill/cause cancer from radiation quicker than a cell tower, throw it in the bin ASAP.

Thank you for showing us your ignorance. The Microwave in the Kitchen is shielded and will not affect you ...

  3. It looks like DTAC is about to erect a Cell Tower right next to my house.

Does anybody know what the Thai law says about this type of thing ?

Is there a legal way for me to stop this ?

I would expect that there needs to be some "clearance" around the tower and residential areas.

    This is in Pattaya ....

    Many Thanks,

  4. Looked like there was a "Party" Tent setup on Sukhumvit, really early this morning (about 8am), with lots of people and

    police directing traffic around it.

I thought it was a wedding, or some other event ... didn't look like any Royals where coming through, as the sois past

that tent didn't have any police ....

  5. Hi !

I h ave a bunch of "FoxTrees" (type of palm) on my property.

They are getting really tall, well over 10 meters now. We have to
constantly put "Fullada" (type of insect poison) in to the tree tops
(crowns) to prevent horn bugs to drill holes and kill the tree.

Usually my maintenance guy would use a bamboo ladder to get
up there, but now the trees are getting to tall.

So I wonder if there are alternative delivery methods or protection
    methods available for these trees.

Or is there some gear available that that my maintenance guy could
use to climb up the tree safely ?

Any pointers and suggestions welcomed !

  6. They are mostly stopping only farangs ...

Thais must be driving really erratically to be stopped ...

Clear case of ATM stops ....

I live in that neighborhood and get stopped twice a day ....

  7. Don't confuse somebody who cleans your pool, with somebody who maintains it ....

I use "Sam" to clean the pool, he does a great job. But *I* make sure that my pool

does not "turn green", or black algae grows on the walls. The cleaning guy cleans

the overflow and vacuums the pool. That's all he does. It takes 15 minutes per

months to "maintain your pool", that means maintaining the proper chemical

balances. You'll need to invest in a few tools (like a digital ph meter) .... no Thai

was ever able to keep my pool clear without over chlorinating it. Now I do it myself.

My, and my families health is to important to me to have some one who does not

give a crap maintain proper chemical balances ....

they ship the linen from India, and always under-declare it ... those bad bad people ... ;)

If it's less than 1,000 baht, it goes right through ... never had an issue ....

  9. I ordered a counter top from this granite shop on the corner of sukhumvit and sukhumvit soi 87.

I had to put a 50% deposit. They have called for me to come by and take a look at it before they

bring it for installation, they also want an additional 30% before they bring it to install it ....

They where supposed to polish round edges on 3 sides, which they did. But the two corners
where the rounded sides meet, are polished very badly, and not round. They have now twice
tried to "fix it", but it still looks horrible ...

So now I have basically two choices as I see it.

    1) Abandon this piece and loose my 50% deposit (about 4700 baht) and try ordering from another shop

    2) Accept it, and try to find somebody who can come and properly polish the edges and corers

Can anybody recommend a granite shop or an individual who does a 100% job on polishing edges & corners ?

    Many thanks,
