I need a small shelf putting up in my condo and as I'm useless at DIY I was wondering if anyone out there can recommend someone to me. On a similar note, I'm thinking about having a wooden TV/wall unit designed to spec and put in, so if anyone has had similar work done I'd be grateful for a recommendation. Cheers.
Man, what guy cannot put a shelf up?? Are you trying to meet other men? There must be an easier way! Someone help this chap.
It's more difficult than buying stuff online
Anyway - shelf problem sorted as 'someone' with a large drill and toolbox (apparently) has offered to 'put it up for me'.

If you understood the problems from working in a Thai school as a teacher or as an Admin. you might feel a bit better, because you can understand and appreciate the many difficulties. If you have any suggestions and are willing to donate some of your labor as a classroom aide, I'm sure you would be greatly appreciated
Suggestion: Leave the note of the H/W on the board at the end of class and don't erase it until all the students have made a note of it. Simple.

I forgot to add...
Two of my work colleagues didn't have degrees when they applied (although they did have TEFL certificates), but this didn't stop them from getting work. It did stop them from getting work contracts, however, which made getting a non-immigrant B visa very difficult.

I came to Chiang Mai in 2000 on holiday for a few weeks with no plan to stay. Back then I just had a degree and no teaching experience at all. I went to watch my friend teach at a private language school and at that time they needed a teacher for a few weeks. Anyway, I thought I'd give it a go just for the experience and I'm still at the same place almost ten years later. I now have a CELTA (from ECC Bangkok) which the school paid for and I'm earning almost 50,000 Baht a month.

Not sure if this will be helpful to you, but I've been buying vitamins/fitness supplements on Ebay for the past few years and it's been the cheapest place online. I've never had any problems with shipments from the US (or anywhere else for that matter) so far. Some of the supplements I've bought haven't been available here and the ones which are are too expensive.

There's a new building slowly going up in CMU across from the main library. Does anyone know what it's going to be? At the moment all it seems to be doing is causing traffic jams and parking problems.

I've had mixed experiences with Barclayard. The last episode involved trying to withdraw large amounts from ATMs in Thailand. I had to call their emergency hotline and explain my situation. Since then it's been fine. As for getting new cards sent out, I just get my parents to post them to avoid any hassles.
As for other items being posted to Thailand, I find VERY difficult to purchase from online stores and get them to post to Thailand. The vast majority refuse. For this reason I buy a lot of things on Ebay. Most private sellers will post here.

The stuff is not that expensive.
Why be a scrooge or silas marner.
Put you hand in yer pocket and buy something decent.
Or are you wanting something for nothing.
For God's Sake you can get something pretty decent for under US$500.00 (if that is gonna break yer budget the best advice I can offer is get a a seat on a plane back to to cheapsville...)
What do you want ??? a 500Gb hard drive, 4 Mg ram, graphics card, and all the rest of the bells and whistles for "wot" SFA
Thailand is the "land of the free" but if want a computer "for free" go looking. Ya won't get any help from me................
Very constructive.
Pantip Plaza at the end of the night bazaar as Winnie The Kwai said and also IT City, ICON and Computer Plaza on the north side of the moat are your best bets. I bought my last PC second hand from Computer Plaza a few years back and it was fine. The shop gave me a warranty and always fixed any problems I had with it.
I concur.

Gutted for Roddick. Federer's a legend on the court, but too smug off it for my liking. '15' on the back of his tracksuit top, too - dick.
