If you can prove that you are in fact a tourist (ie money, air ticket home) and not working illegally than you should have no problem getting a new TV and re-entering the country.

I think it is best to come and explore the island first and then decide what area you want to live in.

Paper, pencils and brushes you can get. Oil paint, linseed oil and canvas you must go to Samui.

I was told the move may be in September. I have to do my 90-day report mid-Sept and was also wondering about this.

I think because you get a visa from your home country (and always have) you will be fine. The problem seems to be for the people arriving by land from bordering countries.

Hello ladies
Have any of you had this done here. If so which hospital and how much did it cost? I am also wondering how it went. Were you able to work straight away or did you leave you bed ridden for a few days?
Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Schools need to be registered/approved by the Ministry of Education.

As far as I know if you have a WP you can pay into the Thai Social Security system unless you are the owner of the business. Not sure what paperwork is needed though.

Foreigners overseeing or working in any sort of business without a work permit are doing it illegally.

You can most likely get it made at the bamboo shop (near Big C).

I read something about this on Facebook. They turned an entire bus around as many on the bus were in this situation.

She should apply for a 90-day non-immigrant 'O' visa at a Thai embassy in Oz. Then when you get here go to your local immigration and get a 1 year extension of stay based on marriage. She will still need a work permit if she is going to work, which she can not get until she actually has a job in place.

They want you to prove that you are not working illegally in Thailand.
If you have online banking just print off a statement and bring that along.

If you are married to a Thai you only need 2 Thai employees and if your wife owns a piece of the company she can not be one of the employees. When you renew your WP you only have to show that you have paid their Social Security.

You are lucky SamuiRes. I have to come over from Koh Phangan.
I called P'Nok this morning to see if it was ready yet as I was going to go gain tomorrow, but he said it still has not been approved. I will call him again tomorrow and try to go on Thursday. I hope he doesn't get annoyed if I start calling him everyday

Unfortunately islandguy it is an inconvenience for me, as I have to close my business every time that I need to go to immigration. There is nothing I can do about it though and it is not P'Nok's fault.
Yes, the papers were probably the fax that he gets from BKK.
SamuiRes, usually the 90-day report takes me 10 minutes so coming back later is not too efficient. Do you have a WP or an extension based on marriage (or retirement)? They usually do mine quickly as they know I have to go back to work

I went to immigration yesterday for my extension of stay stamp. It seems that BKK is quite behind and it has not been approved yet. P'Nok said that there were many in the same position as me and that I should come back again next week, as it should be approved by then.....FYI, he gets a fax each morning from BKK with the names of the people that were approved that day. He showed me the lists from the past few days and we went through it together just to be sure.

In the future you should have your wife put some of her money into your Thai bank account, eventually totalling 400,000 baht. Than this can be used to show that YOU have the money in your bank account.

If you live on Samui or Phangan you must do all visa related things at Samui immigration. I just did my extension of stay and had no problems at all. As long as you have all of the correct paperwork it is a breeze. Oh, and I too had to sign a criminal record check (something new this year) which IMO is a good thing.

Yes, approvals come from BKK. Islandguy, I am going for my extension of stay on Tuesday and am wondering the same thing (due to riots in BKK). Please let me know if yours is ready on time

An education visa means that you are here to study, not to work. You need a 'B' type or 'O' type to get a WP.

The first time was around 3 or 4 years ago at Suvarnabhumi. The second time was at the Satun land crossing and I believe it was 1.5 or 2 years ago.
Non-Immigrant B without workpermit still ok?

In the seven years I have had a multi-entry Non-Imm B visa I have twice been asked to show my WP. This was long before the current crack downs. Once was at the Sadao border and the second time was at Swampy. So you just never know. Luckily I always have it with me when I leave the country just in case.
