List the wife, or brother as the "new owner", change the name, and right back in business within a week.

I'm just sitting here chuckling at all those who said Trump didn't stand a chance in hell. Well, he might not in Hell, but he's doing a damn good job of leading in the U.S.

All of us, or maybe most of us, do the "Thai bashing" thing, myself included at times, but in reality, at least for me, I love living here. I'm in Chiang Mai, and can't think of anywhere else I'd rather live. The coup and the Junta really don't have any bearing on my life. The protests, both red and yellow, had no effect on me. I've only had 1 incident, about 5 years ago, when 4 Thai boys tried to rob me. It didn't turn out well for them. I spent the better part of 4 years traveling around the North & NorthEast on my CBR once a month (prior to my stroke), and never had any problems. In fact, on some of those trips I met some of the nicest people you will find anywhere. This is Thailand, and it is what it is. You either accept it, with all it's variables, and deal with it, or you sit here and be miserable. Or move to someplace else, where you'll find something else to moan and complain about most likely. It's not the U.S., because if it was, I'd move from here as well. Overall, I have a good life here, and no intentions of changing it.

You think expats are bad? Sheesh, you should meet my wife.
Her favorite term is "MOMS" = Monkeys on Motorbikes.
Hates the Junta.
Hates yellow shirts.
Thinks Thaksin is a lying crook.
Thinks all silver mini van drivers are high on yabba and M-150, and should all be banned from driving for life.
Thinks all big bus drivers have the IQ of a buffalo.
Thinks "emotional maturity" of Thai men stops at the age of 10 (except for her son, of course).
Thinks the majority of falang men just come here for sex (except for me, of course)
Thinks someone should drop about 50 bombs each on Phuket and Pattaya.
Thinks every Thai with the rank of General (or equivalent), both Police and Military, should be rounded up, have all their assets seized, and then put in prison for life.
Hates Chinese with a passion (despite the fact that she's half Chinese herself.)
Thinks most Thai in Bangkok live in a fantasy world and don't have a clue as to what life is all about.
And those are just SOME of her "pet peeves".

Nothing new here. Move along folks.

I've had the opportunity to talk with Nattanan Warintarawet, and I can tell you, this is one Very Intelligent 17 year old. Definitely wise beyond her years. She has applied to a number of "Ivy League" schools in the U.S., plus a few "lower ranked" ones, just in case. I would say, remember her name, because I have a feeling you're going to hear it in the future.

I had no idea of who she was (I never watch Thai soaps), so I Googled her. She's hot!

Ahh, yes, another shining example of Thailand's finest.
That's "Finest A-Hole Scumbags!"

"The pervert, from Gloucestershire, fled Britain while registered as a sex offender after serving a year-long sentence for producing depraved images of child sex abuse."
I don't get it.
How in hell was he able to possess a passport and travel in the world after already serving three years in prison for having a previous criminal conviction dealing with paedophilia?
Doesn't the government confiscate passports of criminals ? Don't they stop them at the airports when the name pops up on the computer as a criminal ? ?
How do they just breeze through inspection ? ?
I used to think that a convicted felon in the US couldn't get a passport. Wrong. I know of one guy who spent 21 of 22 years in prison. 4 years after he got out, he applied for, and was granted, a U.S. passport. He immediate moved to a country with non-extradition treaties, and now lives quite well on the money he accrued from his previous illegal activities. How do I know this? Unfortunately, he is one of my uncles.

Thailand has one of the worst education systems imaginable, with University Degrees not worth the paper they are printed out outside of Thailand, where independent and rational thinking is put down at every opportunity, and they want to be an education hub?
Next joke, please.

Talking to yourself is a sign of insanity. Sorry if I can't meet your demand for an immediate reply, some of us have other interests.
I was pointing out in the incongruity of your statement. that "Until corruption is rooted out - starting at the top - serious reform is impossible."
In answer to your question, yes, IMHO. Policy to stop MPs accepting 3rd party payments will limit the ability of the very top to control those with the votes. I expect PTP to oppose a major drop in their income.
Talking to yourself is a sign of insanity.
No, everyone talks to themselves. It is when you start answering yourself that insanity comes into play.

I see trouble on the way
I see earthquakes and lightning
I see bad times today.

Suthep coming back like this is only going to cause anger, resentment and outrage on the part of the reds. People have said that Thaksin was a man who divided the country, and that is true to some extent, but Suthep is, and will be, a man who*s hatred for the common man is well known, and his actions will divide this country even more.
Nothing good for the Thai people can come of this.

I have yet to ever hear of an actual "one on one" fight in this nation.
The only place you will ever see one on one is in a Muay Thai ring.

If the Junta tried a ban on the internet, they would have 30 million 12-21 year old kids storming BKK that would make the Shutdown Bangkok efforts look like a walk in the park.

is everyone in bangkok safe?
I live in Chiang Mai, and up here, we could care less about Bangkok.
It is good to now you care, but the feeling is not mutual.
In Bangkok, we could NOT care less about Chiang Mai.
Now get back to fighting for a seat in the restaurant with a Chinese
mobtour group.Yes, ok, we love you to. As for the restaurants? Well, the ones I go to the Chinese don't know about, and aren't on their tour itinerary, so that ends that discussion. Buy the way, let me know how that "Bangkok Sinking" goes for you.

this is gonna be tough for TAT to spin
Trust me, they'll find a way. They'll reverse the chart and say the Chinese are in the top 2% of favorite tourist.

The little girl is 17 years old isn't so innocent, telling tales of woe at the foreign correspondents club. The school snitch.
You seriously need to go back to the beginning of this story and see how it all came about. Do you even know the facts and history of this case, or are you just commenting between your Chang refills?
I would dare say this 17 year old girl is a hell of a lot more intelligent than you are.
"School snitch"? How about the BRAVEST GIRL IN SCHOOL! That would be much more appropriate.

We can only hope she died quickly, and that the driver of this truck dies slowly and painfully.

Thai Instructor to foreign teachers:
"Some of you believe that, like in your own countries, it is permissible to fail a student. I am here to tell you that is blatantly wrong!
"Failing a student would cause severe loss of face. Not only to the student, but to their parents as well. This could lead to serious depression, suicide, and a raging temper which could result in mass murder. Therefore, for the sake of our country's health, and all important image, you are never allowed to fail a student. Ok,seminar over."

"In the vicinity". Does that mean like Mars is "in the vicinity" of Earth? Sometimes close, sometimes far, but always in the vicinity.
