Oh, you mean modern ones have pistons too, riiiiight, so did a Morris 1000.......🤭
You will be surprised at what I see........😉
Apart from the Wankel, yes they all have pistons. Point being?I actually think the Wankel is a pretty cool design and I applaud Mazda for using it - the RX7 is one of my all time favourite cars. The RX8, meh. Although, like all ICEs, it is deeply flawed and inefficient.

But even with that, the street Trans run 11.5 @ 121mph on the quarter........🤗
Even modern American cars run 60 year old technology. The ICE hasn't really changed much since they were invented, although improvements in efficiency have been made the basic inefficient principal has not.
Some of us prefer to move with the times - although yeah, I am a hypocrite as I have two ICEVs and no EVs. I do appreciate the fact that EVs are far more advanced and modern though, shame you can't see that.- 2

But, none of that rubbish means anything to me, my only bit of fun here, is a 100% Chinese ride with a British bought brand name quoting performance since 1924......🤣
Now take a note of that for future reference.......😋
Though I did have a real MG, 1964 MGB Roadster, I really liked it
Just pulling your leg as I know you can take it.
QuoteAs for the Trans, I think 4 second 0-60 mph would be way out of an MGB league...
An MGB, yes. But not an MG4 X Power or an MG Cyberster.- 2

Still banging on about that? Did your boyfriend run away with someone who drives an MG? Did you lose a drag race to one in your crappy Transam? Something triggers you about MGs specifically. Have you spoken to anyone about this? There is help available. #prayfortransam

Question for you, if EV's are so good why did you sell 2 of them? You imply they last as long as an ICE vehicle so it would be reasonable to assume you would have kept them.
What an odd question. People sell ICEVs too to trade up for a new model. Does that mean ICEVS aren't any good?- 2

Here's what is more likely. Those automotive technicians will begin to work for independent automobile repair shops specializing in maintaining ICE vehicles as that sector of used car repair will outstrip demand for EV by a whole class of Thai citizens who will never be able to afford to purchase no less maintain EVs. Think big cities like Chiang Mai. Where are they going to put the acres of charging stations required to keep commercial vehicles, like Songtaews, running. Who's gonna pay for the extensive expansion of what will become an overloaded grid when the Thai government can't even built a few kilometers of bullet-train track in a timely and affordable manner? Then you have to spend your working hours changing a vehicle instead of earning money. Then like Hertz auto-rentals, the maintenance requirements for EV are going to negatively affect the bottom like of all companies with EV fleets as compared to their competitors who maintain ICE fleets. But then you'll say, "The government will force them to transition." Ok - at the potential of causing massive social unrest by disenfranchised citizens who no longer can afford to drive.
I don't see EVs taking much of the market in this highly nationalistic, developing nation with many of its citizens still living in third-world conditions where coal-fired ageing electric grids simply are not dependable as they aren't right now. Thais are up to their eyeballs in debt. So riddle me this: who is going to extend over-extended, debt-ridden Thai citizens more debt in order to ditch their ICE vehicles and buy brand new EVs. Or pay for the massive increase in insurance costs as a minor fender bender becomes a 200K to 400K THB repair job. Average Thais won't be able to afford to repair their EVs so who will pay for the loans needed to repair what would be minor damage to an ICE vehicle?
"But we need to 'save the planet'."
I'll buy that nonsense when I see the Obamas, the Gores, and the Bidens ditch their beach-front properties due to melting polar ice caps rising the sea levels. Until then? 🐃💩
Oh my word, there is so much wrong in this post I don't know where to start,
EVs are more expensive than ICEVs? Really?
And EVs are more expensive and complicated to maintain? Really? Do you understand what an EV is and how it works? COnversely do you understand what an ICEV is an how it works and how often they need servicing?- 1

As to the Mirai
From the article
Many of the Mirai owners I spoke with made it clear that they love their cars.
With its Lexus underpinnings, the current-generation Mirai has been described to me as a "dream to drive."
JB has already beat me to it, but it is an EV, hence it drives like an EV, hence people loving them. EVs are fantastic to drive - I believe that might have been mentioned once or twice.
QuoteWhat they don't love is the infrastructure supporting it and the way it was represented to them before they purchased it.

we will have to see how the court case goes at the end of day car manufacturers be it electric or hydrogen are not in the refueling business if all the EV charging stations suddenly decided to shutdown for whatever reason then EV owners would be screwed
If all CS suddenly closed EV owners would be a bit screwed but not really. They can still charge at home giving them a range of 400-500kms depending. They can also plug their car into any domestic power socket anywhere for what they call granny charging. In short they can still get around. How many people have Hydrogen filling stations at home?- 1

They have announced a change in their Forecast of Financial Results as there selling more vehicles than they expected
Net sales are expected to increase due to the depreciation of the yen beyond expectations as well as continued high levels of production and sales in the Materials Handling Equipment Segment and the Automobile Segment. All kinds of profits remain unchanged from the previous forecast reflecting the impact of engine certification issue, such as the compensation to customers and suppliers associated with the shipment suspension of engines, although the increase in net sales will contribute to the increase in profit.
https://www.toyota-industries.com/news/2024/03/29/008641/index.html
Toyota reports 20% jump in first-quarter US auto sales
Why would any automotive manufacturer entered the current EV market when the current market is one of price cuts I expect there will be a number of smaller EV manufacturers that will simply file for bankruptcy over the next 5 years
What EV manufacturers and EV owners require is price stability when you purchase a vehicle you expected to devalue over a number of years what you don't expect is the manufacturer to increase that devaluation by huge price cuts because their products aren't selling in the numbers that they require
EV manufacturers seem to be doing a very good job of sabotaging the uptake of EV’s with price wars
Out of Interest did MG agree to your price protection guarantee
For people that are interested in buying an EV what is holding them back is the current price war as you yourself have stated you wouldn't be happy to pay 50% more for a vehicle
Just a friendly tip - your posts would be much easier to read if you used paragraphs / line breaks. They are just walls of texts which makes them hard to read.

Just reporting back that my TM30 submission is confirmed. Once I got over the initial registration process problem that drove me to post here for help (not giving the documents a name in the boxes) the rest was surprisingly easy. Easy to complete the registration of the house owner (my wife), and then easy to submit a TM30. I didn't receive a confirmation by email as others say they did, but easy to extract a PDF from the site that I can print and bring along when I do my extension. Well done Thai immigration, it works pretty well.

Not surprising really, they are now up against serious competition from manufactures offering much better products. Whenever I get round to buying my next car it will definitely be an EV but I wouldn't consider a Tesla for a minute - they are just not as good as their rivals.Elon Musk posted this on Twitter / X this morning. Absolutely shockingly misleading! They are close to $40k - you can't include petrol savings in the list price (with small print)!! And the petrol savings are over what timespan?
I generally like Elon for his achievements and vision, although dislike his ring wing nonsense. But this just seems desperate and is really shady. Imagine a train company saying London to Liverpool is £40 (rather than the £100 it actually is) because you are saving the £60 you'd have to spend on petrol if you were to drive. Tesla must be seriously hurting, and stunts like this diminish their credibility.

Toyota will build different vehicles that meet their customer requirements and will offer them choice of types of power source for those vehicles
Ev evangelist's don't want automotive manufacturers to offer their customers choice is EV's nothing else
Your last sentence is nonsense. EV owners prefer them over ICEs because they are far superior in nearly every respect: performance, comfort, technology, simplicity and running costs. That is the only reason they prefer them. If something better came along (like what?) I don't see any EV owner sticking with EVs. But what else is coming along that can compete? It's certainly not hydrogen.
I came across this article today, Oh dear. Class action lawsuits pending against Toyota by people sucked in by their hydrogen misinformation.

If I want to register myself as a foreigner who owns a condo in Thailand, what kind of documents are needed except my passport? I don't have yellow book since I understand it is very difficult to get. I have blue book for my condo and Chanote (title deed).
Can someone tell me if these documents are enough and if I need to upload them during registration or during filling of TM30 report? Thanks.
As I have just done this for our house in my wife's name, we just needed ID card and blue book (tabien bahn). So I imagine it would be the same for you.
You need to upload these during the initial registration stage (see my posts above). Once your property is registered to be somewhere that can receive foreign "guests" you can then move on to the actual filing of a TM30 for yourself. -

So Gabriel was not working or speaking for Toyota, it was a freelance journalist.
Thank you all.............
Do you think Gabriel Brindusescu decided to research and do an article on solid state technology, he independently contacted Toyota for information, dug in on their research, weighed it up and wrote an article? Or did Toyota release a PR piece which he lapped up and reworded? You do know how the press works, right? Most of these publications are fed press releases.
Oh, and by the way, Autoevolution gives his bio:
"When it comes to car preferences, he will tell you that classic cars are the best, especially old American muscle. There are few modern day cars that get him really excited, and don’t ever dare to ask him about hybrids or EVs if you don’t want to see himmadexcited." It's not you is it??

I am registering my wife (Thai) as the owner of the house. I assumed my documents will go in the next stage when she does the actual TM30 - this is just registering an account on the system. Unless I'm wrong? -

New headline for you: 78% of Chinese EV owners happy with their choice.
"According to a survey conducted by the UK's Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) in 2020, approximately 75% of car owners in the UK are satisfied with their current vehicle.
Here's a breakdown of the survey's findings:
It's worth noting that these figures are based on a survey of over 2,000 UK car owners and may not be representative of the entire UK population. Additionally, the survey did not ask about specific aspects of car ownership, such as fuel efficiency, reliability, or maintenance costs.
It's also important to consider that car ownership is a complex and multifaceted issue, influenced by a range of factors, including personal preferences, lifestyle, and environmental concerns."
Can't link to it as it was a summary from Grok, but the point is obvious.
