Op.. As you are a 'serious expert on burgers of all variations'....

I'd recommend you give 'Easy Burger' a try....    Opposite Cheap Charlies at On Nut (Sukhumvit 50).

(I think they just opened a new Branch in Phrom Pong too)

IMO - thats the best burger I've had in Bangkok.

The next best Burger I've had is in Japan.

I used to like Easy Burger but now find them greasy with - somehow - a greasy bun. Tasty though.

Looking at the picture above I find it amazing that you think that is the best burger in town.

But then, maybe that is American taste...

This one is much better, and only 5min away from Nana. But I won't tell you where it is. 😉

90% bun, maybe 10% meat and what looks like thousand island which is an abomination and should not be allowed anywhere near a burger. No thanks.

Agree with the poster that Nana burgers are great but that's because they get eaten at 2am when you're drunk. Has anyone ever had a sober Nana burger? And if so how does it rate?

There was virtually no queueing, and I had absolutely nothing else to do. So why not spend 30-60 minutes, my time wasn't valuable in any way at all, I had nothing whatsoever to do all day other than sit around and BS with friends. It also meant that I got a bit of exercise walking to the bank and back.

I've known of guys walking quite a way to a different exchange bureau to probably save 30 Baht.

Fair enough. It's not for me though.

When I used to buy expensive air tickets I would sometimes go to the bank to get the cash and save the 2,000 - 3,000'ish Baht card fee.

So you buy "expensive" air tickets, then can be bothered wasting your time going to your bank, queueing, waiting for cash, then visiting the airline office, queueing and wasting more time to hand over the cash, wait for it to be counted, to save 2,000 baht? Seems your time is not that valuable.

I just book directly on the airline website for my "expensive" ticket, pay with my credit card, then pay the full amount in my bill cycle and don't have any added fees - you should try it.

Even if there was no alternative to your dinosaur, queueing, time wasting method, and someone said I can save you all that time for 2,000 baht I would take that in an instant.

    Hi,

I have been in Thailand for 28 years, always employed, married for 15 years. My situation: I am leaving my job on 9th April and will have my visa and WP canceled but will have 21 days extension to leave (as a BOI company), meaning April 30th I have to be gone.

I know how to transfer a non B to a non O, however as I have school fees and mortgage I haven't maintained a solid 400k for two months. I will have a lump sum coming in to Thailand on 16th April which will cover me for a long time but it needs to seed for two months before I can apply for non O (so let's say 16th June is when it will be properly seeded).

So what is the best thing to do between April 30th and June 16th? Can I go out and come back on 30 day exempt and do a 30 day extension? Will this be questionable as I have lived here for so long? And can a visa exempt be converted to non O in country?

Or do I leave and come back on a 60 day tourist visa? Same questions apply as to whether it looks suspect and if it can be converted in country.

Finally, I read Atomphuket's really helpful thread about Savannakhet. It seems they will dish out a one year multiple entry non O without seeding the money for two months. Can anyone confirm this is absolutely correct? I will have the money in the bank, no problem, just not two months' seeded. I would hate to go all that way for the seeding to be an issue.

Any advice gratefully accepted. I have never had to worry about this stuff for 28 years....

Thought I should come back and update this for anyone it might help. I just received a 90 day, single entry non O from the embassy in Vientiane. Applied on Tuesday morning, received this afternoon, and fly back tonight. I had my marriage certificate, wife's Tabien bahn, passport, and ID copies. Also a print out from my bank. They gave the documents a cursory glance and didn't even ask to see the originals although I had them with me.

I did have more than 400k in the bank but it had only been there a week and that was clear on my statement. They obviously do not need you to seed the money for two months. Visa fee was 2,000 baht.

So I head back to Bangkok tonight then maybe in a couple of months will do the trudge to CW to get a 12 month extension of stay as by that time my money will have seeded for the appropriate time.

Thanks to everyone in this thread who offered help and suggestions.

I was in Vietnam last week, Vinfast cars are horrible.

I am in Laos this week. Actually surprised how many EVs here - nowhere near as many as Bangkok but way more than I expected. And a few Vinfasts around. Dreadful cars. They will only sell in Thailand if they are ridiculously cheap otherwise they have no chance.

...and you are basing that opinion on what evidence?

Like all opinions it is based on my experience. No, I haven’t personally done a safety survey of all Thai ferries in operation, but I have used many and I maintain that Seatran probably operates the safest vessels in Thailand.

what’s your issue with that opinion? and then tell me your opinion and exactly what evidence your opinion is based on, thank you.

Where did I state KL monorail was impeccable ?

By agreeing with @scorecard when he said KL's system had an excellent safety and service record, saying "Because this is Thailand and not KL."

BTW workers were killed during construction of the lines in KL. Last year there was a report that many lifts and escalators were inoperative due to lack of maintenance.

But yeah, KL good, Bangkok bad.

Yawn. Not sticking up for the Thai monorails as these incidents are unacceptable but to claim the KL version is impeccable is nonsense. Take off your anti Thai blinkers and research before you post your tripe.

Around the opening time  a wheel fell off (sound familiar?) and fell on the head of a pedestrian. Could have killed them.

In 2005 a tyre exploded and entered the carriage inuring passengers.
In 2012 a train broke down and all electrical power was cut and trapped people inside for over two hours! People had to smash windows in order to breathe. Later that same year it happened again although the AC still worked so people could breathe while waiting for rescue.
In 2015 a wheel caught fire while in a station.
In 2020 another wheel caught fire and caused serious damage to the train.
Last year another tyre exploded and caught fire, passengers had to be evacuated and the fire brigade called to deal with it.

But year, KL good, Bangkok bad.

Honestly it takes 30 seconds to Google to see if something is true before you blindly agree just because it is critical of Thailand, it is so so very boring.
