So true! Why should a person pay tax to eat? Thats insane. No one should ever pay tax on things required to live ( food, medical, water, etc)

You don't have to go and dine in restaurants to survive though do you.

Basic food items: raw meat, fresh vegetables, uncooked rice, plain water etc are VAT exempt. That's what you need to survive.

If you go to a restaurant an experienced chef has cooked, added flavourings, created dishes - ie. added value to the basic untaxed raw ingredients - it is normal and fair to pay VAT (value added tax).

I lived in Pattaya previously for over a year about one year ago. I was planning to move back to Pattaya, into the Central or Jomtein area. The other option I'm considering is Hua Hin.

However, I just saw a bunch of Youtube video's saying Pattaya getting real bad with people from India taking over, sleeping on the beach, using beach as a public toilet, etc. I don't like people from India much (not the men), but i do like the food.

Is it just talk or is it really a no-go? How different is it from a year ago?

The Indians sleeping on the beach and using it as a toilet was a fake story.

But everything else about Pattaya is nasty.

Nice. Their site is still down though which isn't very helpful. I wonder why they haven't noticed?

They now have a shiny new website to go with their shiny new cars. Much better than their old site.

I see their cars almost daily; lots of EVs including Merc EQS, Aion Y, Deepal L07.

Having used https://www.asiacarservice.com/ whilst AOT was offline - and they were good - I'll probably revert to AOT next time I need it based on the newness and EV-ness of their cars.

Foi the past 3 days I have been unable to access the official Bangkok Post website with the  error '429 Too Many Requests'

I have tried with Android and Windows using Chrome and Bing with the same results.

Is anyone else having this issue?

It won't be missed if it is permanent. Sad shadow of it's former self.

I think that's more India wanting that as a reason than reality.

You could say the opposite is more the US/Boeing wanting it to be pilot error rather than reality.

Both equally speculative. But because of the RAT deployment (if true but the evidence looks compelling as it is at the moment) then definitely looking more like a mechanical / engineering issue.

I dono I’m still thinking it’s related to the flaps hot day…air density I don’t know the altitude at that airport that could be a factor.regardless it looks like once she got out of ground affect she quit flying and settled back in sad 😞 another theory is that when the pilot in command called for gear up the other pilot pulled the flap lever by accident 😞 we will find out soon enough my condolences to the bereaved.I don’t think it was a flaw with the aircraft though.

But neither of those would explain the RAT being deployed as it seems like it was.

All speculation though but that is pretty well thought out and presented in the video above.

If the RAT really was deployed then it's looking more like an aircraft problem than human error.

I don’t think so.  Appears the leftists of the homosexual community have that organization covered.

Never had you down as a leftist, but you do seem to be very familiar with what the homosexual community is up to. It's OK in this day and age so just be yourself and enjoy whatever you enjoy.

This is one of the more minor bad deeds but it is interesting that Trump supporters here never or rarely are  able to say - yeah this is a bit bad - Trump should do better. Instead it's almost like they feel they are profiting too  - not by money but by being able to laugh at people who stick to norms of behaviours and ethical standards

That is a good point. I don't understand how people can be so willingly blind. They literally can't bring themselves to critice him in any single way, and if anyone else does they do one of two things: go on the attack and go "whataboutwhataboutwhatabout".

In the UK I support Labour. But I am quite happy to criticise them when necessary and have no issues with critcising Starmer when I think he's wrong. That's surely normal and healthy?

    UPDATE

The Indian DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) reported on 13 June, that initial preliminary findings rule out a bird strike as no bird carcasses have been found. Loading of the aircraft was routine, hence a load problem is unlikely. The likelihood of a pilot error is considered minimal as is the simultaneous failure of both engines.

Police sources have indicated, that one of the blackboxes has been recovered, which was confirmed on June 13th by India's Civil Aviation Minister who reported the blackbox found at the rooftop of the doctor's hostel is the flight data recorder.

The DCGA  ordered safety checks on the airline's entire Boeing-787 fleet.

India's AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Bureau) have opened an investigation. The US NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) and UK AAIB (Air Accidents Investigation Branch) have dispatched teams to India to join the investigation.

There are 8 fatalities on the ground confirmed, with many injured still receiving treatment, in addition to the confirmed 241 dead on the aircraft.

This is interesting. Apparently the RAT was deployed which would indicated loss of power (electrical, hydraulic or engine) and would also explain why the landing gear wasn't retracted.

And, according to a 787 mechanic, here are all the conditions that would automatically deploy the RAT (any one of them):

    • Loss of all engines

    • Both engines are at less than minimum idle RPM (Revolutions Per Minute)

    • Loss of all hydraulic power - left, right, and center systems detect low pressure

    • Loss of all electrical power

    • BPCU (Bus Power Control Unit) detects loss of power to C1 and C2 TRU (Transformer Rectifier Unit)s

    • On approach, loss of all four EMP (Electric Motor Pump) hydraulic pressures and loss of either the left or right flight controls ACE (Actuator Control Electronics)

    • Rotor burst on takeoff that causes loss of both PECS (Power Electronics Cooling System) primary cooling loops.

You talk like one person doing something means that anyone who happens to follow the same political ideology is in favour of that thing.  That's just silly.

    Finally it dawns on you.

So that means we can now criticise Trump without being called a Biden-loving, men-in-women's-showers promoting, illegal immigrant supporting terrorism fan?

Welcome to the real world, I am glad you finally arrived.

Doesn't matter. I said it's a comical country, now you want to know so you can criticise mine? Do you feel the need?

You snowflakes are so touchy. Criticisms, emojis, everything.

I rode in one last week in Bangkok. Definitely not a heap of sh@t.

They are compared to the alternatives at a similar price point. I've ridden in loads over the years (probably 30-40 Uber rides in Dubai for example) and they feel cheap and flimsy inside.

    Incoming...  Skyrider x6.

At 70km/hr, 200km range and around $67,000 USD.

Someone else try them out.  I'm not onboard just yet.

Edit:  Apparently comes standard with a safety parachute.

I hope nothing like this ever takes off (pardon the pun). Imagine the noise of all those giant drones buzzing around.

One survivor found on seat 11A of aircraft, says top cop

    This is currently being reported by most Indian media, saying that Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik is reported as saying;

"The police found one survivor from seat 11A. One survivor has been found and is under treatment.  The death toll may increase as the flight crashed in a residential area,"
