  1. You really do have a very childish way of debating. When I criticised his war on drugs your comeback was "but what about the 30 baht health scheme". Weird. And now anyone who criticises Thaksin you call them a coup or a Trump supporter. Very childish. You do realise it is possible to dislike Thaksin and also dislike Prayut. It's quite easy. You can count me as one of those people. Disliking one does not make you a supporter of the other. Try and engage in a normal debate, you might make some friends.
  2. Wow, you really don't get it do you. So many of them didn't make that choice, so many of them didn't have anything to do with drugs, Nong Fluke didn't make that choice as he slept in his dad's car and died in a hail of bullets. You are a cruel and heartless person if you think that is justifiable. Anyway, let's say they did make that choice to be involved with drugs. You are happy for the police to execute whoever they want with no evidence needed, no proof, no trial, no due process. And if one of your family was executed in this way you would no doubt still be ok too because, hey, they made their choice to take drugs. Unbelievable (except it isn't because it is the tone of many of your posts).
  3. Why do you just deflect each time, you never respond to any question, just deflect. The 30 baht healthcare was a great thing and by far the best thing he did and I congratulate him for it, it has benefitted a lot of people. See, unlike you I am not blinkered, I just look at the facts. Good stuff = good, bad stuff = bad. The war on drugs' extrajudicial killings = bad. Now over to you, can you admit that? You're like a stuck record. We are talking about the war on drugs which gave the police carte blanche to kill whoever they wanted, many of whom had nothing to do with drugs. I personally know two innocents who were executed. Can you confirm you believe this didn't happen? I have asked you before but you deflect, just answer a simple question. And to think you say I have an obsession, it is hilarious. I am only stating facts, good and bad. You are making things up and presenting no facts, no evidence, just going on the attack. So please, answer a simple question.
  4. Yep. Remember Nong Fluke? Yet Mr Mojo believes none of this happened.
  5. Yep, done that, thanks. I only see me calling out the anti Thai brigade who post baseless nonsense like no-one has heard of Conde Nast, Thailand is a dump etc. Honestly, silly comments that are only posted because the posters hate their lives here. And it is sad. Thailand has good and bad, but if you are visiting here for the first time (as millions do) it is an incredible country, like it or not.
  6. Yes they did, and yes it was, and I personally know two innocent victims. It was an awful period in his "leadership". And he is using this terrible tragedy for political gain which is utterly immoral and shameful. I am losing more and more respect for this site each and every day they publish his disgusting self serving BS.......which is pretty much daily now.
  7. Both male and female. And from recent times going back years. And I use Fast Track on every single entry - not because I am flash, just because I work for a BOI company so I am allowed to use the Fast Track lane. I have posted this in its own thread elsewhere but especially post Covid the IOs are much more friendly (it seems to me), giving smiles, wais, and having a little chat. Maybe that's because I approach them with a sawasdee khrap and a smile, who knows. But generally, in dozens and dozens of entries I have never been questioned, nor has anyone I have known who has visited me.
  8. I have never been asked a single question in Fast Track other than the occasional "can you speak Thai?", and I have used it countless times. If you have access to Fast Track it would be ridiculous not to use it.
  9. So you're saying it didn't happen then? Or maybe you subscribe to Tony's pathetic "It's not the police, it is drug dealers turning on one another" theory? Wait, I think you're really saying it didn't happen.... Can you read your own sentence out loud please.
  10. It isn't. The "Visa on Arrival" lane is for visas on arrival, not visa exempt.
  11. I never do that because then I have a different number. If you are with AIS you can get seven days unlimited data roaming in Malaysia for 93 baht.
  12. Ridiculous comment. Thailand is full of amazing places. Sure about that? https://www.nationmaster.com/country-info/compare/Thailand/United-States/Crime
  13. Dammit, you should ask for a refund! I've upgraded to first a couple of times to the UK using miles. Unbelievable experience.
  14. In other words you're a cheapskate. Agree that business class doesn't make a lot of sense for a three hour flight, but for longer than that it does and it is not about a bigger seat - it is the whole stress free experience. Let's say you fly Emirates business class, you get picked up from home in a Mercedes, you do not have to queue at check in, security or immigration, you get to wait for your flight in a lounge with full meal service, lots of food and drink choices, champagne, wine, whatever you like. Depending on which airport you're at you can board the aircraft directly from the lounge, no queuing. You get a glass of champagne at your seat before take off. You have tons of space and tons of privacy, a big screen TV, amenities, you get proper food (three courses served in order, on plates), high quality wine and drinks. You can convert your seat to a fully flat bed with mattress and blanket if you want to sleep. Or you can chill in the on board bar if you want to meet people. You arrive fresh as a daisy (or drunk as a skunk), you are first off the plane, your bags come out first, you have a driver waiting for you to take you to your final destination. To me that is well worth the money. If business class was just a "better chair" it wouldn't be. Once you try it you realise flying can be something to look forward to rather than something to be endured. And you can't go back to economy.
  15. I used to feel the same. But having tried the new stuff it is amazing - you can feel euphoric and energetic and focused, so different. Different strains have different effects. Personally I can take it or leave it, but like to dip in maybe once a month. I think it is great for Thailand, great for the economy, and an amazingly - and unexpected - progressive decision by the government. Still feels weird that this has happened.
  16. Whenever any of these things come out the sad, lonely, self hating bunch always come crawling out saying it was paid for by TAT, it is wrong, Thailand is a cess pit and they hate it, Mexico is better, blah blah. It is very sad, but also quite amusing to watch, the self loathing is quite something to behold. Like it or not Thailand is an amazing country that millions and millions of people love for many reasons. Remember that feeling you had on your first trip here? That's what people get even today when they visit. Your own pitiful life in a village you hate, full of people you despise, and your life filled with bitterness doesn't change that fact. Amazing country, amazing people, amazing resorts, hotels and hospitality. Now, back to the whingers, let's watch them come out with all the cliches. Then tomorrow there will be a new topic where they can post the same again.
  17. Conde Nast Traveller has 5 million subscribers. Try again. It is targeted at the luxury, experienced and well heeled traveller which is why the bitter people on this forum have never heard of it.
  18. I know a lot of posters here live very sheltered, unhappy, isolated lives in rural villages that they hate, but seriously who hasn't heard of Conde Nast?? Heard of Vogue? The New Yorker? GQ? Vanity Fair? All Conde Nast publications. Or did you mean you've never heard of Japan?
  19. Er......the satellite pictures show what's coming.
  20. Japan may seem daunting but the rewards are amazing. And it is not as hard as it looks. Just pick 2-3 cities that you like the sound of. We did: Tokyo. Kawaguchi (for Mount Fuji), Sapporo (for snow), Kyoto (for scenery and culture). Book accommodation (we used Airbnb in Tokyo and Kyoto) and the most important thing buy a JR Rail Pass before you go. $229 for seven days, or $361 for 14 days, and it gives you absolutely unlimited rail travel. For an extra 25% or so you can go Green Class which is first class, well worth it. https://www.jrpass.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuIfrw-_F-gIVY5_CCh1PHgYiEAAYASAAEgLa1vD_BwE They mail you your passes. When you get to Japan you go to any JR Rail office in any station and just tell them all the places you want to go and they will book the trains and reserve seats, and yes, this includes bullet trains - as many as you like. And nothing to pay at all. They speak English and are very helpful. Then you're good to go. It's an amazing country, so if you decide you want to take a trip to somewhere else that you hadn't planned just go in to a JR Rail office and tell them and they'll book it. The bullet trains are an experience in themselves. Once you have all your rail journeys booked (do it on day one) then you have no more worries, just follow the instructions. Tokyo can be a bit daunting to get around by train at first, but it's all quite logical. Turkey is also fantastic and a popular place to visit (I have Thai friends there now). It's a long time since I've been though. I expect much easier than Japan, but the adventure and experience of Japan is something I'll never forget.
  21. Wow, what a freedom fighter!! Never washing your hands for two years, wow, you are sticking it to the powers that be alright. What a filthy crusader you are.
  22. Yeah, rocket launchers are used against protestors...
  23. Nice, glad you enjoyed it, thanks for reporting back. Honestly it is so refreshing to see someone posting positive stuff here and enjoying this amazing city.
  24. Yeah, I liked the sound of that but honestly it is really disappointing, nothing like what I expected. It is basically a concrete bridge with a few plants on it. However, from there you can walk to Ong Ang which is really cool in the late afternoon. Really nicely restored area of Chinatown, lots of food (Thai, Indian), street art, really nice vibe. You might see some tourists there but not many, and it is cool. https://www.tatnews.org/2021/03/award-winning-khlong-ong-ang-walking-street-isnt-your-average-walking-street/ The blue line (MRT) also has nice views along the river for a few stops.
