  1. The more the truth comes out the more it looks like a cover up by the anti government protesters and their leaders. But it seems to have failed.

You mean the "truth" as put forward by the Govt and Police who have proven so trustworthy and honest over the years?

If you put the words "Govt" or "Police" in any statement, I'm going to take what they claim with a VERY large pinch of salt.

Oh Yeah, and the previous governments ran by the democrats (plus the police force and its commanders, that were in place then) were all OK, trustworthy, not corrupt, you name it.

On which planet have you been living ??

  2. Quote:

[The announcement also asks for understanding from anti-government protesters, stating that vendors of counterfeit whistles are profiting from opportunistic business ventures which would undermine the channel′s enterprise.]

    The irony of this !

A TV channel, which has very opportunistically made "premium lightning shaped whistles", to profit from some political unrest situation, states that vendors of "counterfeit" whistles are profiting from opportunistic business ventures !!!

Have they actually patented their whistles ??

  3. Quote:

[but the national police chief said earlier that arresting the protest leader must be taken in caution as he is always surrounded by guards and protesters.]

Now I understand why rich and influential Thais are seldom arrested.

It's because they are always surrounded by (body)guards so arrests must be taken in caution.

    Another mystery cleared ! wink.png

  4. quote:

[speaking on the Asok protest stage yesterday, PDRC leader Suthep Thaugsuban vowed to close all government offices in the coming days, and threatened to "detain" the prime minister and all members of her cabinet and cut power and water to their homes.]

Isn't it illegal to "threaten to detain" and/or "cut power and water of people's homes" ??

If not, I will put these methods in my own arsenal for the future, might come in handy one day.

  5. quote:

["I admit that we're not the majority voice, that we are not the voice of the whole nation. But no revolution is ever carried out by the majority," said Thirayuth.]

Revolutions usually starts with a minority or possibly even 1 voice, but a revolution should be carried/supported by a majority.

This is a typical example of the "we know better attitude" of the Bangkok middle class.

  6. To the Foreigners supporting Yingluck, and her puppet government.

Please, open your eyes and ears.

Try to understand the damage they have done to this beautiful country.

Do you really want this to carry on?

Because, if elected, nothing will change, except the chance that her criminal brother will come back to do more damage.

Costas, you, like most of us foreigners, do not seem to know what you talk about.

The damage done by the Yingluck government and/or the damage done by any previous government, what do we really know and what has remain hidden for us ?

The Thais do not even know it all themselves.

This is a Thai struggle between 2 powers of which we do not even know which one is better or worse.

Thailand would probably be better of getting rid of both and start all new.

But then again, what do I know.

  7. quote:

[He said the Army has allowed them to wear civilian clothing for their comfort as they may have to travel longer distances or take more time to travel from their homes to work due to many road blockades by anti-government protesters.]

I always thought that military uniforms were designed for traveling long distances, like for instance, in case of war.

Turns out that the Thai army only uses uniforms that are comfortable for short distances.

  8. I wonder if that was his logic in April/May 2010? The red shirts set the precedent for taking the capitol hostage to get your way.

I understand all the different colors can be confusing, but if I recall well, this whole protesting and occupying trend, was started by the yellow shirts with occupying the airport (to get their way).

Furthermore if I remember a clear difference between both occupations.

The yellow airport occupation seemed to be tolerated and the the red street occupations were violently slammed down.

Why and how is unknown and can only be speculated.

  10. The aim of the protesters is to get rid of the shinaclan. Yingluck can propose anything she wants, but anything other than her stepping down will not be accepted by the protesters.

The aim for the Democrats is to rewrite the constitution to hinder or water down the weight of the votes from the Northern Provinces so they can be in power for the next 30 years. I would call that a return to dictatorship.

The democrats will not succeed in that. They will have to work hard to convince the voters in the north of the just cause of their fight. The missunderstood fugitive still seems to be a hero for many. The dems will have to prove to the people up north what the shinaclan is all about.

What the Shina-clan is all about, is probably clear to many already.

What the old clan is all about, has been clear for many many decades.

Not much hope for any real progress, no matter what.

Lets hope, all of this ends without people getting hurt.

  11. Why detach insignia to look like black shirt men? That seems a strange and provocative thing to do.

it says; They detached their insignia, which made them look like "black shirt men".

So, the detachment of insignia ordered by command, resulted in, them looking like "black shirt men".

Nobody said they intentionally were ordered to detach their insignia, to make them look like "black shirt men".

That is just a conclusion you draw yourself.

  12. Quote:

[Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha, has provided vague answers to reporters when asked about a possible coup over the few weeks.]

Beautiful to see that coups in Thailand have become so common.

So common even, that the question: "will there be a coup soon", is considered perfectly normal by the media as well as the people.

  13. Most of the girls frequenting "Insomnia Nightclub" are working girls any how, looking for punters.

No smiles or good looks/attitudes needed, just the right amount of cash.

Don't know what looks sillier ?

A Farang just sitting on a chair staring at the merchandise he wishes to acquire or a dancing flirting good looking fool who doesn't realize he is doing his horse and pony show to attract a working girl.

You see most of them walking the next day in some shopping mall, with their freshly conquered prize on their arm, being all jealous when some-one looks at her.

    Beautiful !!

Even the working girls laugh at them.

  14. Back home, people in the big cities sometimes do not even know their neighbors.

In some older parts of towns abroad, places are turning in to lawless ghettoes.

I live in the sticks in Thailand and indeed, there are sometimes worlds of difference between the "Thai" thinking and my "western" thinking.

But I have found that some of the Thai thinking is not that bad and by opening up to this new culture I can even learn a lot.

About Thai culture and thinking of course, but also about myself and the flaws in our western way of thinking.

I actually like "living in the sticks in Thailand" a lot.

Maybe if you would open up to other ways of living and thinking a bit and not treat your way of thinking as superior, you might even learn something.

  15. Life is what YOU make of it !!

    Anywhere in the world.

Regarding Thailand, and I can only speak for myself, beautiful people, nice weather, good food, wonderful nature, pleasant pricing only make, living life pleasantly, a bit easier.

  16. I wonder how many "Thai's" realize that the "Chinese" have colonized them and own the country now?

Take my word, most Thais know more then they will ever tell you.

They also know how dangerous it can be, to just voice your opinion/knowledge in public.

You should never forget that and not judge them based on the fact that they do not easily speak out on certain facts.

You would be surprised on how much the average Thai knows and realizes.

Gonna have to completely disagree with you on that one. I'm never surprised now by how LITTLE the average Thai knows. They're just not interested in knowing much outside their own little bubbles.

The fact, that they are not interested in things you are interested in, does not mean they know little.

They just know different things than you.

Things that they themselves are interested in probably.

They probably know a lot of things that you do not know.

A big difference between the "average Thai" and "the average Foreigner", that I notice a lot is, that the "average Foreigner" seems to publicly voice his/her opinion, after knowing only part of the facts and the "average Thai" seems to rationalize a bit more and not claim to know the facts well enough to publicly give his/her opinion.

Please do not forget that the Thais do not easily speak what's on their mind, and will avoid certain subjects.
