  1. Follow up should I choose to not change my flight plans because of costs and fly into HKT.  How long is it taking to process the RT-pcr test at the airport?

I would like to get results as quick as possible then fly on to BKK and then move on elsewhere and limit my hotel stay anywhere as much as possible.  Thank you

  2. ? I wanted to ask this in a different way, So here it is I got a really good deal on a flight from USA to Phuket arriving on Dec 2nd, My intention is to arrive on the sandbox model. However with things that might be changing on Nov 1st with no quarantine. If the rules do change does anyone think if I still choose the Phuket sandbox model to get my COE that upon arrival I can change the rules and get tested upon arrival get the test results then hop on a flight to BKK and go on about my business with never completing the 7 day stay? Thank you

    • Well I happened to get a really great air fare from Usa to Phuket Thailand to good to pass up on. The flight is set to arrive in Phuket Dec 2nd. So I am waiting to see what the CCSA is going to say because I am thinking I can just arrive in Phuket on the 2nd get my test at the airport then wait for the result if all ok, I should be able to hop on a flight to BKK take of some business that I need to do at the US embassy then get a flight out of BKK and on to my family home in the country all without any 7 day stay. I am hoping this will be able to as I am planning. Have to see what the details will be as you said the CCSA should be letting news out very soon.  I was planning on getting my COE based on the Phuket sandbox but as of now have not submitted it, I only bought my air to HKT.

Below is the translation of the PM’s speech.

    It does mention:

    - No quarantine if fully vaccinated

    - PCR test before travel

    - PCR test in Thailand << - I’m wondering if this is upon arrival (as per Phuket) or if the PCR test needs to be taken within a couple of days (as per the current UK model).

Hopefully better information from an official source (i.e. CCSA announcement) will surface this week.

    1.     I have instructed the CCSA and the Ministry of Public Health to urgently consider within this week to allow, as of 1stNovember, international visitors to enter Thailand without any requirement for quarantine if they are fully vaccinated and arrive by air from low-risk countries.  Visitors will need to show that they are COVID-free at their time of travel with an RT-PCR test undertaken before they leave their home country, and do a test in Thailand.  Initially, we will begin with at least 10 countries on our low-risk, no-quarantine list, including the United Kingdom, Singapore, Germany, China, and the United States of America, and enlarge that list by 1st December, and, by 1st of January, move to a very extensive list.”

  3. Has it been said that if the Nov 1st date open of Bangkok goes through that a test will be required at airport upon arrival as well as the same Phuket sandbox that exists that you will be allowed to leave your hotel and nightly( as long as you are double vax) have to return to your hotel for 7 days and then test again on last or next to last day then you can go anywhere that you want in Thailand ?  Thank you

You need to acquire your visa before you can apply for the COE. You'll be cutting it close, to close for my comfort. At least 2 weeks or so for the visa, and then COE process.

Going in exempt a possibility? Get extensions. Read through the forums weed out the miss info and DIY, it easier than it looks. Or go to a visa shop in BKK or CM, starting at about ฿3000 + ฿1900 for each visa they work on for you.

I hear you but I dont have to prove covid vax for the e- visa so in theory I could apply for the e-visa around the 20th of Oct correct?

  5. 19 hours ago, 0james0 said:

15 calendar days to complete the second step. After you get your vax card after the 9th, start the first phase, then the second phase after the the 15th. You'll have plenty of time, don't sweat it.

Another question? How soon should I apply for the Thai E-visa (Non O visa based on marriage) that I will need before I apply for the 1st part of the COE on Nov 9TH?  Thank you

I did a visa based on marriage through the Thai Embassy in Los Angeles and they issued me a visa but it was only good for 3 months, I have to apply for a new visa bases on marriage again here in Thailand, so you might want to put your 400k in a Thai bank soon after arriving in country.

Thank you I have done that I have lived in Thailand for over 3 years but had to leave on a family emergency and because of timing my non o visa had to expire so I still have my money in a Thai bank well seasoned and just need to repeat the steps of re applying for a non o visa based on marriage before my return.

No, as long as you have everything in order and depending on the consulate it will take about 3 days if you don't get any rejection notices. About a week if you get one or two rejects, assuming that you can fix the errors. Some here are reporting speedy turnaround time with their consulates. At the time I did mine, I got a responses from the LA consulate within a day with each submission. I'm sure if things start to pick up, then it may take longer.

May I mine you, there are two phases. Do not start the second phase until 15 days before you arrive in TH. When you complete the pre approval process you will get a notice/email or check it online stating that you have it "pre-approved your registration/application for COE" After you receive this notice DO NOT start the COE application process, DO NOT login out of curiosity before the 15 day mark, 15 days to the second. There is a 15 day/0 hours/0 minutes/0 seconds countdown timer when you login there. This is why it's suggested to wait to complete the pre approval process first, then make you booking after the approval notice.

Thank you. ? Are you saying 15 business days or 15 calendar days? from the 1st pre approval to compete the 2nd step I guess I rolled the dice and bought my air already and booked paid my hotel and got my shaba ID but I still need to buy the covid 100,000 policy and book the rt-pcr tests that are required.

  8. I am getting my 2nd dose both done in the USA and the 2nd dose will be on OCT 26th then I have to wait 14 days to file my COE according to the rules of having to wait 14 days after your 2nd dose, Which will be NOV 9th. My flight is booked and shaba hotel booked (Phuket) paid for. Hoping since my flight is booked for NOV 30th that I can get my COE all approved between Nov 9th when I submit and my fly date of NOV 30th. Does this seem to close to get an approval?  Thank you

  9. This is from the Royal Thai Embassy in Los Angeles California and matches exactly what Ubonjoe indicated. Thank you ubonjoe!!

What is the intended basis of your Non O application? Usually, for a single entry Non O visa to visit Thai family, proof of a modest current bank balance is sufficient. It is more complicated, and variable, what a consulate will demand if applying for a Non O visa based on your age (retirement).

Based on marriage family stays in Thailand now, I will be going back and need to get a new Non O because my current one expired as I had to leave for a family emergency. I just wanted to confirm that it is one bank statement that was needed as the most current one? Thank you

  11. I am trying to do all the steps in getting my COE correctly the first time when applying. Please will someone correct me if I am not understanding the steps that I will take in order regarding booking the prepaid PCR tests.

I will get my first Pcr test in my home country no later than 72 hours before flying to Phuket. I will get my 2nd Pcr test upon arrival at the HKT airport in Phuket which I do not need to pre book on the Thailandpsas.com website.

I will need to pre book only one Pcr test on the Thailandpsas.com website for day 6 or day 7 of my stay which I need to submit only that prepaid test (day 6 or day 7) to get my COE from the Thai embassy in my home country. Is this all correct as far as the Pcr test to get my COE?  Thank you

Details have not been announced, no confirmations or even indications of how the ‘Bangkok’ opening may work.

Will staying at SHA+ hotels even be a requirement ?

Will Thailand just open up and ask that those travelling in ‘isolate’ at home for a week ?

Will PCR tests on arrival and day 5/6 be a continued requirement ?

Perhaps the PCR test on arrival will be sufficient ?

OR, Perhaps SHA+ will be a requirement and arrivals will have to register daily at their Bangkok SHA+ accommodation (I had to register daily at my SHA+ accommodation in Phuket for the 1st week).

Perhaps a combination of PCR Test on Arrival, Registering daily at your SHA+ accommodation and the day 5/6 PCR test will be sufficient to ensure that arrivals to carry out their 7 day Bangkok SHA+ ‘monitoring’ (or whatever its going to be called).

Whatever is going to happen, we can be fairly sure that the goal post will be shifted a few times between now and Nov 1st with a series of mixed and contradictory announcements !

I understand what you are saying TIT ! Thank you

  13. I understand the Phuket sandbox 7 day stay and last day before leaving to be able to basically go where you want to in the country. However from I am reading is that Bangkok may open in Nov same as Phuket but my question is I know you are supposed to stay in Bangkok for the full 7 days if you are fully Vax but in reality how will the Thai government know if you just split on day 3 and leave Bangkok for your home town?? Is it tracked from your passport where you have to get your final covid free test on day 7 or what is stopping someone??

  14. 5)    Copy of RETURN Flight Booking / Confirmation (return if visa exempt arrival) – Flights need to be ‘direct to Phuket’ (i.e. Qatar Airways / Emirates etc) – I’m not certain about transit options through Bangkok with Thai Airways (but I think they are the only airline which is permitting Sandbox transit passengers in Bangkok).

?? I thought I had read that if you arrive on a Non -o visa example that the return portion was not required as you are saying in step 5 of COE list that you wrote. Can someone please confirm or not?  Thank you

After dealing with the Thai immigration for 5 years now you would think you would have it together enough to know and remember what documents you need to accomplish getting your yearly visa renewal. Make and keep extra copy's of every document you have given to immigration for referance for your following year visa renewal. Then you might will have more confidence that you are going to be prepared for your yearly visa renewal.

Ha that is true and you would think that until you visited my IO office on a yearly basis! Something always seems to change what they want almost if the wind is blowing north to south on the day you go but next year the wind is blowing south to north look out!!

  16. Hello, I am just trying to confirm I understand the process. 1st apply at the Thai E visa website for the type of visa I wish to apply for my case (Non O). When approved print my approval then 2nd step apply for COE entry and attach the approval from the Thai E visa website that my Non O visa was approved. In addition supplying all the other criterial that COE website is asking for. Then arrive in Bangkok immigration show immigration officials my E visa approval and show my COE approval and my RT-pcr Neg results within 72 hours of departure. Can anyone please advise if I am missing any details that could assist me? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance for your input.
