  1. I have a Foreign Currency Fixed Term Deposit Account with BKK Bank.

Had it for 3 years and have used it 3 times for my retirement extension, the latest 2 weeks ago.

With such account BKK Bank only issue a certificate, no book, no card or the like. But they do issue a monthly statement via snail mail.

This year Imm wanted to see the original certificate, a photo copy of the certificate, a photo copy of the last 3 monthly statements, and a conformation letter from the bank.

As I understand Imm will only accept Fixed Term Deposits provided they are redeemable at any time, ie before the term of the deposit expires (to which one most likely would loose any interest).

BKK Bank has different interest rates depending on the currency - I currently get 2.5% for 1 year term ????

How does one get a 2.5% return on such accounts?

    What currency?

Fixed deposits - What terms (in months/years)?

Does BK Bank post these rates somewhere?

As I said in my post the 'Fixed Deposit is a Foreign Currency Account'

As I understand each of the main international foreign currencies can be on different rates. In my case I have AUD.

  3. G'Day Mate,

We had our ceiling insulated about 2 months ago, through HomePro Mae Hia (on the Hang Don road).

We paid a small deposit (of B100 I think - which was credited when we went ahead with the installation).

A couple of days later a very pleasant salesman came and inspected and measured our ceiling, and presented us with a quote, which we accepted.

About a week later the bats were deliver and the next day a elderly team (husband and wife) came and professionally completed the installation.

This was the best service I've had in 15 years of living here.

The overall cost will depend on the bats you choose and the area to be installed. For us we went for the best quality (from Israel). Good luck

  4. Hi Indepth, I'm in the same boat as you, ie I'm receiving DVA pension.

For the last 7 odd years I've been doing 'on-line' transfers from Westpac to BKK Bank, no problems till now. Suddenly, un-announced, Westpac has stopped sending 'SMS one-time pin numbers' to Thailand. After numerous tries, phone calls and an email I'm still hitting a blank wall.

So, having previously heard about direct deposits by DVA to a Thai Bank, today I started searching the DVA website, in particular the 'fact sheets' section and found the following

    https://www.dva.gov.au/sites/default/files/dvaforms/D9196.pdf

This site is what you are looking for, and whom to send it to (fax would be the quickest) - easy peasy

     good luck

  5. In my situation we have been monitoring my elevated PSA, had an MRI scan (on a 1.5 Tesla with contrasting agent) some 12 months ago, with the resulting impression ‘significant cancer is unlikely to be present’.

However, my PSA continues to rise, ever so slowly. As a result my CNX Urologist indicated at my last consultation that if my PSA continues to rise then we should have another MRI. My next PSA Test/ consultation are due late May’18. Hence my interest in the newer MRI.

It's actually a little more, but not all that much. They explained to me that there are some labs and other test required the day before the MRI or possibly the day of the MRI, which amount to around 2500 Baht.

Electrified, may I ask when communicating with Pitsanuvej Hospital, Phitsanulok, with whom did you communicate, (ie International Customer Relations or the Radiologist Department)? The reason I ask is that I suspect the reply to my email enquiry came from International Customer Relations, was a general response and did not address my specific question, ie multi-parametric imagining. Thanks

  6. I emailed 'Pitsanuvej Hospital' Phitsanulok re their MRI 3T and asked the following:

Do you have the capability and experience with multi-parametric imagining using a contrasting enhancer?

    They replied:

We have a team of Radiologist, board certified and skilled in providing and performing MRI investigation with contrast. MRI Prostate with contrast is about 20,000 THB; without contrast is only 11,000 THB.

Dante there is nowhere in Chiang Mai that offers Prostate MRI Tesla 3. Suan Dok offers MRI - T 1.5.

What is the difference between MRI Telsa 3 and MRI T1.5?

Where are you buying it? I was told by Fascino that it's no longer being sold at all in Thailand. Some kind of "repackaging" thing and was told it will be several months before it's sold again here (if ever).

Of course, their information may have been incorrect. I am trying to find out the truth.

That price sounds already low for that med.

Sorry for the delay in replying.

I was prescribed Mevalotin 40mg some 3 odd years ago by a Dr at BKK Hosp CNX. The cost then was B1940 per box, plus the Dr/Hosp fees. After a number of months I started buying from the pharmacy 'Pharma Choice'  here in CNX at a cost of B1350. I have just been advised it is now B1290/box

  9. Most photo shops will tell you that they can provide passport photos.

However it is essential that the photos meet the Australian Passport Photographic requirements, ie

    Coloured

    Height: 45mm-50mm

    Width: 35mm-40mm

The chin to crown measurement must be between 32mm and 36mm

Not more than 6 months old

    A white background

    No 'photoshop' type improvements

    see www.dfat.gov.au

    good luck

  10. A month or so ago, after having a medical checkup, my GP recommended I see a urologist.

An expat friend suggested I see a Dr Jakkrit Jun at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai. My experience with him was identical to what the OP said about Dr Siwat.

Dr Jakkrit's patient manners were the best I've ever been party too. He listened to me, he examined the information I presented him with, calmly discussed with me my problem & offered me 3 options (which, by the way, were identical to that which I found previously on the net through some thorough searching via Dr Google). At no time was there any pressure on me to choose a specific option. I am now scheduled to see him again next month.

Similar to what the OP said,  I I'd rather pay extra and know I'm getting a good doctor at a good hospital, and that's my experience at Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai.

Sorry to hear Nancy that you had a different experience.
