  1. Could be on the 'to do' list.' Ratchadamnoen Avenue has been largely unoccupied for some time now.
  2. The trees keep on growing, the wildlife tries to be left alone, the seas go up and down. What do the National Parks do that could make them lose money? Some fences, parking, dodgy toilets and places to collect money that no-one is coming to. Think some greedy people expected one billion baht and they won't be getting it. So sad!
  3. sustainably address the problem of overpriced lottery Today's award for use of irrelevant but fashionable buzzword.
  4. Why does Thailand need donations? It is a country with many rich and proud families. It has Siam Bio-Science, the hub of vaccines for South East Asia. And it seems to have loved China more than the USA for some years now. All obvious points, but what is going on?
  5. 'the fact that they nipped a criminal dynasty in the bud....' Some would say their role has been to support one.
  6. Is it too late to 're-purpose the new, hugely expensive new Parliament building to something useful?
  7. I believe Dhanin is CP Group and Central Group is a different company, albeit very similar backgrounds. Central is the Chirativat family. Big in hotels and owners of Family Mart.
  8. Beer Laos IPA. For a while could even get it in 7-11.
  9. Anyone who wants to be a politician here should be banned from being a politician. What a country. There must be a solution, but the good guys seem to get into legal troubles before the games can begin. And the bad guys have their sins forgiven.
  10. If they really need money to improve tourist facilities may I suggest there is no need for a Sports and Tourism body, the TAT and the Tourist Police. One body could do it all.
  11. When they use the roads, the justice system etc etc and their employees use the schools, the hospitals etc etc how can they say they are really in Luxembourg or the Caymen Islands? Pay your taxes where you make the money.
  12. What advantage is there for a country to allow people to say their money is offshore? Does it outweigh the loss of tax income?
  13. They will have another huge chance to protest on Oct. 6th. Will they take it?
  14. The Tourism and Sports Ministry expected to start collecting a 500-baht tourism fee next year. It is claimed it is for a "tourism transformation fund." No details given. Making a product more expensive usually dampens demand, but they believe it is wealthy people coming and they will not notice.
  15. 'Reality is that these four categories are "sales channels".' Cape. A lot about these four payment categories. I have felt before that there might be another one. When the hospital knows you are insured prices seem to rise. True? Genuinely interested.
  16. The banks have been very helpful during these difficult times accepting reduced loan repayments from struggling businesses. They will continue to struggle, but shortly the banks will start to demand normal payments. Not a good situation.
  17. 'Teachers in Thailand are eligible for special loans from the Government Savings Bank without a credit check. One loan program, called the teacher’s funeral fund, makes up to 3 million Baht (90,000 USD) available to any teacher, even if their salary is the minimum 15,000B per month.' fireinthailand.com/thai-teachers-need-a-lesson-in-fire/ Banks should not be making loans like this, if it is true. Please tell me it is not true.
  18. Who is encouraging the NACC to release background information that allowed Prawit to get away with his watches excuse? His best brother?
  19. Interesting to see the Democracy demonstrations often have representatives from the Thai Craft Beer industry.
  20. I pretend I am clever and am teaching you and you pretend you are learning. OK?
  21. Sorry. I really more meant people starting in careers where they thought they would be serving the public such as in policing and government and then find they must serve a boss and an organisation that is seeking to bend and break the rules to make money.
  22. Nearly all of its citizens live like it is. Others live in a way most citizens of London, Paris or New York would be jealous of. People who want to better their lives through their intelligence or efforts face unfair obstacles. They may have to compromise their principles to get anywhere and support a family. Sad.
  23. Enforcing instructions from Germany rather than Prayut? So lots of shifts at the top? Don't want to spread fake news, but where do I find the truth? Not from the 'good' people, that's for sure.
  24. .....which will not happen while companies like CP use the present system to protect and expand their interests. The protesters are clear that their desire for freedom of thought and expression, their future opportunities and a better balance of wealth in the country would all be better served without CP.
