Does it make any difference to the content of the story that he happens to be gay? I don't think so. Until Thaivisa lists criminals in same manner "heterosexual man steals car", I suggest they leave off sexual orientation unless it is related to the crime.

So she had to "drag" you to father's funeral. You may not have said anything verbally, but Thais are quite astute at picking up non verbal behaviors. It is already a depressing situation for her, and she probably didn't want to make it worse (and lose face) with you there scowling (even if micro expression of scowling). She was doing you, and herself, a favor.
She has invested 5 years of your life and she is still just a girlfriend. 5 years on your time line is very different from hers. In Thailand she is approaching, or perhaps already has reached "expiration date" regarding a permanent relationship. Try looking at it from her perspective

Hey, let's not insult Neanderthals!
When you have police who see their function as collecting bribes, a justice system that is a laughingstock, what else could one expect other than "mob justice"? The "social contract" between government and governed does not seem to exist.

" Cambodia and Russia will sign an agreement on the peaceful use of atomic energy later this year in Moscow...."
Are we talking reactors? Anyone have prevailing wind pattern map? If reactor is built in Thailand, I know I'd be out of here. Cambodia a little too close for comfort too

" They also confirmed that there were no signs of a struggle or room ransacking. "
That's what you get when you stay at a higher class hotel. Plus if your partner is still alive and staying there, probably cuts down on removing "souvenirs"

"The two mechanics were fixing the air conditioner when the blast took place."
Be nice if we could know the name of the firm they were working for, if any. Defamation laws prohibit that no doubt.
They done fixed them units real gud.... just don't have same bunch install the new air con I would think

Can we look forward to a police parade? I love those, and feel so much safer, as long as I am near the parade.....
600 X 0 still equals 0.

He was a government employee. That should be explanation enough. If someone is a government employee and doesn't make bags of money, I would guess 1. got position due to nepotism & is dumber than a bag of hair 2. died on the job but no one noticed.

Too many people have died. When will they ever learn? When will they ever learn???
They have learned, just not lessons we would like. They have learned nothing happens, so will continue as usual.

" Near Mr Yoon's body there were a white chair and a spilled bucket of paint, which police suspect were used in the alleged suicide. "
Well, there you have it. He truly "kicked the bucket"

Me again. Gee, just watched Geelong squeak by NM. A squeak is as good as a holler. On the idea of trying not to have favorite team, I think there is some sort of hard wiring in our DNA to push us for favorites. I have maybe 5-6 teams I prefer, but dang it's hard not to have a fave for any number of reasons that pop up after get some emotional response.
BTW, why all the hate for Collingwood? Are they similar to hate for New York Yankees in much of US? It's not like they dominate and take the fun out of the game....
Oh, and limit is now 90 interchanges (I think) and some want it to be less. Seems like ought to up the number a tad, say 100 or 110. I prefer seeing players fresh v "the running dead".
Occasionally I try to promote Aus rules with my American friends (most of whom like US football). WSJ did study showing average US game has 7 min of action, furthest runners only go about 1/4 mile tops, all that armor (or armour), field 3x bigger, game doesn't stop if get clobbered.... wondered about those pink folks out there at first. And on and on. Imagine Aus rules won't catch on. US seems to be lacking cricket grounds. And when could they do all the ad breaks?

"All tastes are acquired" per my consumer behavior prof at uni. Need to do a bit of Pavlovian conditioning of self regarding that "stink". Does wife have some special skill she could treat you with while the smell is in the air? You could also take up smoking, tends to dull sense of smell

I'm a yank here, been watching footy for about 4 years (thank you, Australia+). It is now my favorite sport, all the rest pale by comparison. Other than watching a game or two at a hotel bar during my 97 visit to Australia, and snippets on ABC (USA) "Wide World of Sports" program in early 60's, no exposure.... almost a virgin
OK, so I thought "Let's see if I can watch without having a favorite team... is it possible?" I have many players I love to watch: Martin, Cyril, Stringer, the Riewolds, Cox (a yank) and on and on. Try as I might, I did develop some teams I lean towards: Richmond, Doggies, Eagles and a team I don't like: Sydney. Maybe because it took a bit of time to figure out it was Opera House outline on shirts ("That doesn't look like any darn swan!) and though I liked Franklin at Hawthorn, there is something about him in red and white that just doesn't sit well with me.... been educational, learned some useful Aussie slang "under the pump", "crummers", "up and about", "claret" for "blood" and so on.
Looks like it will be a good season, enjoyed todays game between the dogs and swans and the outcome. Cheers

I can think of a few aspects of Thai culture that won't be touted with float...

How about going up the food chain and nailing suppliers? Nah, they've already "paid" for their crimes

Some brain research indicates we have an emotional response to something, some situation, and then the brain looks for reasons to justify that initial reaction, for what that is worth

"... his five-year refusal to appear is acceptable because he filed a complaint of unfair treatment. "
Well, it is true, he has been treated unfairly.... unfairly clearly to his advantage (duh) but till unfairly. He'd be locked up by now if he'd been treated fairly.

Donald just tell Congress to do what you promised: Everyone covered, cheaper and better. Let them figure out how to do, or just copy Canada or UK.

" Unfortunately, the situation in Pattaya has grown steadily worse. The number of foreign tourists has risen so dramatically and urban development is so fast-paced that foreign investment, often disguised, has skyrocketed. "
Isn't this what government would want? "Oh, we have too much growth. We're tired of winning". Lots of condos being built, but lots of new condos standing empty. Development doesn't seem to be all that rational. And my informal survey doesn't see tourist numbers all that much

Several years ago I took pictures of man and woman in front of Central Pattaya charging tourists for photos with slow loris. I contacted Wildlife NGO in BKK who said they'd get right on it. Nothing happened, of course. One aspect of rescuing these loris is that often teeth are removed so can't bite, but also means they can't go back to native habitat.

" He said that 85% of accidents were caused by driving at too high speeds. "
and that is just on the sidewalks against traffic!

Nice shots all around. I wonder if that school is still being funded? Some of these houses that could be fixed up but just sit there rotting makes me think there is a positive side to having property taxes: would get places fixed or sold.
Too Many Tourists a Concern in Cambodian ‘Killing Fields’

I went to Cheoung Ek back in 97, and was alone on a sunny day. Couldn't help but think "there were lovely days like this when people died....".
S-21 was awful and sobering. I had the thought "It doesn't take much to convert a high school into a torture center" (I was high school teacher at the time).
Surely there are more killing fields sites not too far from PP. How about opening some others for tourists? I'm sure there some idiot tourists who smile, make V sign and shoot stupid selfies, but I would hope most would be respectful. Maybe set up a center and show a short film about the Khmer Rouge before allowing tourists onto the grounds.
