Who would have guessed that there's a shortage of semen in Laos?
Well, it is a landlocked country....
I probably am packing a bit of the contraband around with me somewhere in my pants amidst the smoke and gravel....

I am so excited. She is the best performer ever. (Read in Steven Wright voice)

Trump said during campaign he wouldn't tell our enemies what he was going to do, roasted past leaders who have done that, keep that element of surprise. Yet he called Russia (who we assume called Syria) at least an hour before cruise missile attack. Now he tells the world his armada is going North. Included mentioning submarines (brilliant move... NOT).
I suppose he did keep part of it a surprise. He forgot to tell our forces that they were going somewhere else.
Re draft dodging medical deferment & "he did it legally".... maybe legal, but not genuine medical problem, as he couldn't recall which foot had that terrible bone spur that kept him out. Continued to play sports, btw. I had friends who got out of the draft "legally" through a doctors note, was not difficult to find a sympathetic one. If a millionaire I suppose it would be even easier.

Fox is still in deep doodoo. They reported the payoffs to accusers as income to the women. This is in violation of SEC and NY laws. Legal settlements are a different category of expense and Fox is guilty of false reporting in the coverup payoffs

"BMA cameras were out of action when historic marker may have gone missing..." Pure coincidence, I am sure.
Perhaps police could arrest themselves, as their response (or lack thereof) is inciting unrest.
In a related story, the Statue of Liberty has gone missing. Unconfirmed reports indicate she was seen walking across the Atlantic towards original owner, France. Some say they heard her mutter "My work here is done...."

"....which is technically not public space, even if it’s part of a public walkway."
say what? How's that again?
Restaurants also infringe on public walkways. Brings to mind restaurant on Beach Road Jomtien that simply blocked off sidewalk at both ends (was open for many years, btw) and pedestrians get to tightrope along 2' wide strip or walk in the street. That owner has city hall connections had nothing to do with this, I am sure.

Very good! If those foreign nations love streetfood so much they can introduce it into their own capitals.
I'm from Portland Oregon and we have a thriving street food scene, along with designated areas for this sort of stuff (Usually a trailer instead of a cart, weather and all).
Late night comedians etc were talking about deporting of illegal Mexicans and what that would do to the taco truck business...
If you are familiar with New York, you may consider watching an episode of Law and Order.... quite often stop to get hot dog from street vendors.

"...their alleged slowness in bringing to justice suspects..."
Good move. Are they ready to apply this same standard regarding the son of red bull? Or is standard for money different from family?

Wow. Get large crowds together, people acting aggressively and drunk, and violence erupts. How is that possible?

Sounds like he got some ya ba in his system. Surely the locals have seen what that can do to a man. Or woman.

RIP
Please forgive me, but if she were mute, he could use defense "a mute wife is a keeper in any culture".
But if she were deaf, well, how many of us have wives/gfs who might as well be deaf?

Awfully kind of those in administration like sec of defense, security advisor, Spicer played along with Trump and said the task force (hardly "Armada") was headed towards Korea. "See? He's not the only one who is clueless".
And you John Wayne types might want to take a view of this recent Charlie Rose episode with former head of the CIA clearly and intelligently laying out the options and possible outcomes.

Who installed the lights? They should be held responsible for doing a bad job, to say the least.

Perhaps he should do a little fact finding mission: visit Penang, Paris, Tokyo to see how they deal with Songkran.

The people have spoken...
Maybe something like "the Bangkok restaurant association has spoken"

Good for them pointing out the laws that were broken, as police didn't have a clue, as when yesterday brilliantly said "the owners are the ones who could file" or some such statement. BTW have they released the first petitioner yet? He broke no law. (oops just read the next story. My bad)
And then there is the case of the emerald Buddha....

" A combined force of over a hundred of narcotic suppression police, railway police and metropolitan police took part in the operation at Bangkok Railway Station or Hua Lampong this morning."
If like other crackdowns we have witnessed, perhaps safe to assume business was "back to normal" by lunch.

In this case you can say the pilot came and wasn't "loaded for bear"

Take all of promoter's assets AND give him many years in prison. That might, just might, get the word out to others who put together slap dash events like this.
-
I commend him for his making a good decision at last. Saved everyone from more grief.

I've been living in Thailand for 16 years. I eat food from food stalls and other places. I cannot recall last time I got sick from food stall food. Last two times I did get sick was from food at supposedly clean restaurants.... can you cite where you found data about " Tens of thousands of consumers become ill in any given year". Food stalls can't hide what they are preparing, if see one dodgy, just try a different one.
They do not pay taxes argument: I am sure the BIB get payoffs, which gets spread through the food chain of administration. The money they earn probably spent at shops to pay the VAT. How many thousands of people earn an honest living working these food carts? You want to throw them all into the unemployed? So much for support of SME business.
It would not be all that difficult to paint lines on sidewalks limiting encroachment. Added incentive to police to enforce and get a little extra income.

"...police would not take up the matter unless a complaint was filed by owners of the plaque or their heirs."
I thought it was donated to the Thai people, so any Thai could file a complaint.
With this twisted reasoning, the "owners" should be fined 2000 baht for littering.....
I have yet to see what law the petitioner violated... maybe embarrassing the military?
Sean Spicer might want to look into working over here after his gig at the white house is over. Couldn't be more difficult coming up with specious explanations.....

The Junta: "Creating problems where there were none". Probably just imitating Trump admin?
If they don't like Pattaya, how about simply go somewhere else.
There is that gnawing feeling among do-gooders that somewhere, someone, is having a good time.

Nothing in the article concerning what crime he had committed to justify arrest. Contrast that with son of red bull and how that non-arrest was handled.
New education plan focuses on inspiring students

Lots of meaningless buzzwords, tech fixes that makes me think "more skimming possibilities", and of course, more committees to endlessly go in circles.
Perhaps Confucian ideals of education reflected in Vietnamese culture has something to do with their "education-budget efficiency", and even the corrupt officials there realize they would spend time better skimming other budgets.
Classroom management problems greatly diminish if education is done right, that students see some value in what is being taught, that they are active learners rather than passive empty vessels having useless facts and formulas dropped down their gullets.
Observe one student showing another how to use some smart phone app. Does teaching student have to threaten or sanction learner? Hardly. Does learner ask questions? You bet, and they get answers, hands on experience.
It's not rocket science....
