Thai investigators have determined that design and construction flaws led to the collapse of a partially built Bangkok building during the March 28 earthquake, resulting in at least 89 deaths. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced these findings, highlighting that the disaster was not due to material quality.

They have figured out who they want to throw under the bus it seems.

The controversy stems from a conversation where Paetongtarn appeared to criticise Lt-General Boonsin Padklang, a prominent Thai military commander, while showing deference to Hun Sen, whom she affectionately called “uncle.” The leaked audio has prompted accusations that Paetongtarn is undermining Thailand’s interests to favour her longstanding familial ties with the Cambodian leader. Her father, ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, has nurtured a close relationship with Hun Sen for over 30 years.

Color me surprised.  Really, the only think I won't be surprised by is if daddie's little dumpling isn't eventually living with both Tony and her aunt in London or Dubai within the next year or so after Thai Coup version 22.0

I have never been violent as a result of weed and I don't know of anybody who has, there is nearly always alcohol involved but that does not suit the narrative so it does not get a mention

I've never met a violent stoner.  And by stoner I mean someone who smokes marijuana but doesn't drink or take any other drugs.

Any violence I've seen in people who are smoking pot was with those we were also heavily drinking.

Folks, this is a can of worms in the making!

The "good" news that I have gleaned.

-- the original figure was 5 percent so 3.5 is obviously better

-- the current senate version doesn't apply until January 2026 so we have time to transfer in bigly money before then

    The "bad" news

-- Transferring entities must register and are subject to a lot more paperwork. Maybe fewer will even do transfers or if they do, they might raise their fees.

-- Being a U.S. citizen does NOT mean that the tax won't be taken out! You'll need to file with the IRS later for a refund

-- Transferring entities if they fail to take out the tax and it turns out the tax is still due will be liable to pay the tax themselves! This explains the above point.

The "target" was supposedly illegal aliens in the U.S.

U.S. citizen expats are not going to be treated much better.

As expats we have no political power.

Currently, Mr. Trump is on a wag the dog war high.

That will help him cram this big bill through the senate.

I know many of you voted for him. Another case of the leopard eating faces, yeah?

Makes me wonder if Wise will just drop their US customers as they'll probably be required to provide us with some IRS form specifying the tax withholding each year.

Sheryl, is there any particular brand of sleeping pill that is not addictive? I get the impression that some posters on here take sleeping pills probably melatonin very day indefinitely.

Hydroxyzine which is a antihistamine which causes drowsiness.  25mg about 1 hour before bed is usually enough.

  6. Surprisingly Melatonin seems to be available on Lazada again.  I wasn't for quite awhile.  However, it costs about twice as much as the same products on iHerb.  Fyi, you need to log into to iHerb using a VPN to the US and select US as your country to see full product categories.  The last time I attempted to order some on iHerb it was impossible.  The only option for shipping was Flash and they would not ship it.

Bottom line - we can get it again from Lazada but you'll pay a premium for it.

You can download and send a copy, anytime you like.  No need to wait for one to arrive.

Fyi - you can download a copy from SSA. If you don't get one by November, I'd fill a couple of these out and send them.

    https://www.ssa.gov/foreign/ssa7162ocrsm.pdf

FYI - this PDF does not include form boxes to input your name, address, and SSN.  You'll have to write those in by hand.

Example: (obviously for those folks in Mexico who only have to do this every two years)

I know this, as I got the warning once, and why I send back multiple copies every year.

Yeah, and if nothing shows up by November, they'll get multiple copies.

What with mail service to Phimai from Bangkok as it is, I expect this years notices to arrive late next year, if at all.  All at one time.

Very honestly.  Mail transiting from the US through Suvarnabhumi and then to Lamphun takes less than 48 hours with mail that I've traced.  Same with traceable mail that I send to the US from Lamphun.  Thai Post is extremely efficient.  When I track mail, the problems are ALWAYS with USPS.  USPS: Slow, slower, and snail-slow.

But?  You're out there in Isaan, so maybe it is different.
