Not sure what you are on about but I drove with my UK home licence in Thailand until I did both Thai driving licences at my home location DLT office with my UK full driving licence to get my 2 Thai drivers licences. The OP has a Canadian driving licence so if he goes to his local DLT he will find out what he needs to do to get a Thai DL for a motorcycle.

Thailand is just the same as anywhere else the difference of what your use to simply takes you back to the "live and learn".

Don't bother with clever socks on here the search facility is rubbish. Does your Canadian license have motorbike category stated on it. The only way and I don't know where you stay but just go DLT and ask for a motorcycle license the worse that could happen is they book you a motorbike test and that's easy it's kids stuff. Goodluck. You can use your Canadian DL if its a full license for car or bike. You can use your Home DL for up to 90 days if you get stopped by police who just want buck just pay the 400 baht fine.

Good few years back mind we used larger trucks on about 1/4 rai and just got them coming with the cost of a tractor. 35,000 from memory. Also the road out side was being resurfaced so giving a guy 200 baht to drive a roller over it was a bonus was surprised how much it compressed.

What a ignorant thing to say, why don't you have a right good complaining go at your immigration office and see where it gets you.

Go to the local DLT office in your area and ask them what they want. Take passport, proof of address of stay, medical certificate may be needed, your Driving license from your home country, if your home country Driving license is not in English you will need a IDP.

Don't know Tech places only thought there were certain subjects taught in different universities because our son had to go to a Bangkok Uni because no university near us taught what he wanted to learn. My friends daughter is learning and working to be a nurse in a gov hospital she gets paid, parents don't pay anything apart from some pocket money.

I nearly always use PTT fuel stations because they have 7-11 and I have no interest in fuel except for my motorbike also I don't care what it is for diesel engines all I do is by the cheapest whether it's B20 B10 or B7 because I can.

You get told many things by other people and don't know whether it's true or not I myself only believe it if I have seen or know for myself through experience. 16 years ago Suk province office never heard of yellow books it was only the insistence of my wife that got the head of the dept to find out because they refused to put me in her house book. After about 3 visit all done over 3 weeks. The second time was funny with having to have a head official from our village govt office the family there especially my sweet old mum in law who was asked what day was you born, she said in the summer time. Reminded me of Croc Dundee when I asked what all the hysterical laughter was about. In mums day there were practically no records kept of anything much. The govt office worked out a date for her working one out from the eldest born son. ????

It didn't make sense because I didn't have to get anything from immigration at the time. My wife and her house book were proof of me having an address.

We were told in our province I cannot be in my wife's house book. I believe you as I have a friend who is in his wife's blue book but doesn't have his name on the land ownership paper where they had a new house built. I think it depends on the province as they said this is Thailand. ????
