Many things can be true at the same time. No decent Thai man wants a woman with the scent of the sex trade.

Also, farangs are universally a laughing stock among Thai men, they can't believe who we wrestle with.

However, you made a different and more valid point. The arrival of the younger expatriate generation has increased competition for young Thai men. It's not unusual to see middle-class girls dating and marrying stable younger farangs. That is starting to annoy some younger Thai men as their general xenophobia mixes with sexual jealousy. All of these relationships that I am aware of are thriving. One friend has just given birth to her second baby, she lives near The Somme, France. I can't think of any relationships that have broken up but neither do I have a drone pursuing pals across the world.

So, no - Thai men are content to allow farangs wrestle with the sex trade "belle's"

And, yes - they don't like having their better ladies stolen away.

Younger working expat farangs have been dating and marrying university educated middle class Thai women since the 80's and probably before.

  3. Every immigration office is different and gives different advice on these matters.  I have had my kids renew their Thai passports and ID cards both in Thailand and abroad and always got contradicting information.  Their Thai mother passed away when they were teenagers so I've been through this when they were under the age of 20.  I did have their mother's paperwork such as a Thai death certificate and her last ID card as well as her old (and now expired) passport to help facilitate the various immigration officers.  Good luck!

Also, did anyone read the book that was written about Trink titled "But, I don't give a hoot!" by Jennifer Bliss?

Yes, I read it.  It was a fairly good read about someone who had his supporters and detractors.

There will be many countries that will help with all needs, to build, run, and maintain a nuclear plant here.

    It's 2024 man,  not the 1950s  :coffee1:

Until the Thais decide that they are no longer needed because, "we got this".

It may be 2024 but some people in the government that oversee such projects are still stuck in the 1950's.

  6. This is not a good idea on so many fronts.  These nuclear plants need a lot of maintenance, safety checks, and constant monitoring.  Are the Thais willing to commit to this?  I am not so sure.  I feel that the next thing we will hear is "Thailand's first nuclear clean up" after a meltdown.

AC Delco are owned by GM - Chevolet is a GM brand.  GP Autoparts sell both AC Delco and specific Chevrolet branded parts.  They are Chevrolet's official parts stockist in Thailand and as I've stated a few times, I've not had a probelm obtaining anything I've ordered from them and the parts I've ordered could hardly be described as 'service parts'.

    So far I've ordered:

    1 x Gearlever complete (auto)

    1 x Upper L/H engine mounting

    1 x Upper R/H engine mounting

    1 x Lower engine stabiliser

    1 x Set, radiator cowlings

All parts were available ex stock immediately.  The engine mountings and a kit to repair the gear lever were also available as after-market parts should I have chosen to go down that route.

You do sound very well versed in ordering parts for a Chevrolet and what is available and also in where to have them serviced and repaired.  I guess you kind of need to be if you are driving around a Chevrolet and/or other US engineered cars.  I'll just stick with Hondas and Toyotas.  A much better line of automobiles.

  8. I flew China Eastern out of LAX back around 2017.  Worse flight and airline ever.  Ok, the price was why I took a chance.  It was $558rtn.  Left LAX on time and arrived Shanghai.  Short wait for the connection and then boarded.  Flight was taking an hour.  Ok, I go back to sleep.  Wake up about five hours later..............and we are still on the ground in the plane.  Finally after sitting on the plane for seven hours we leave after a slight "mechanical" issue was resolved.  No food or water served that I know of during that time.  Once the flight was airborne they give us some type of sack lunch.  Very crappy it was.  Arrive in Bangkok much later than expected.  Go to baggage claim and wait for bags......and wait some more.....and wait some more.  Finally, the belt stops and that's it.  Have to go file forms for bags not delivered.  I then get a taxi and take it to my house.  The next day they contact me and tell me that the bags will be delivered.  That afternoon a broken down looking truck arrives and has my bag.  That's great, where's the other one?  Oops, no have.  Can't blame them as it looks like it got subcontracted out.  Call China eastern and explain to them I'm still missing a bag.  They tell me they will check and call me back.  Two hours later they call.  They tell me that the bag will be on the next flight.  Bag shows up the next day.  Everything was there, nothing missing.  So yes, I won't ever be taking that airline again.

  9. In case the Thais have to bring in a beefier aircraft they do have the F-16A/B Falcon.  Myanmar does have the Mig-29.  One strayed over the Thai border in 2022.  The F-16A/B Falcon turns tighter, turns faster, can go faster than the Mig-19, can accelerate faster than the Mig-29, has a lower stall speed, has better vertical, and I believe the F-16 has a clearer canopy with no metal bars causing a blind spot.  The Mig-29 scores high on energy maneuverability and capability to gain in a slow-speed close fight, says German pilots who have done combat training operating one against the other.  While the F-16 has an advantage above 200 knots speed, the Mig-29 has incredible nose-pointing capability down to 100 knots.

Of course if you don't have the money for proper maintenance and to keep pilots up to date on the latest improvements for that model it won't matter.
