Try Loei province, years ago it was in the middle of nowhere, little amenities for the westerners. Today the city of Loei has its own airport, Makro, Lotus, Big C, Global, cycling club, gym clubs, football club, aerobics/yoga. Many foreigners like Loei because it has seasons, in winter can be cold (not for long) Mountains close to Lao border
I was last in Loei back in 2000 over New Year's on a cycling trip. It does sound as if it has changed a bit since then.

Good thing he wasn't on a Boeing Max jet. That door might have just popped right out. (sarcasm)

I avoid going to Phuket. Not worth going through all the problems that plague that over-crowded and over-priced island.

"Passengers took pictures onboard as the drama unfolded." Why? Were they going to update their status on Facebook, Instagram, or some other social media platform?

The way that condos are run and the quality of them I would be very wary of actually purchasing one. There are definitely more condos for sale in the greater Pattaya area than there are buyers. There are so many things that you can't control such as neighbors plus Air BnB's, but then the condo management is a whole other problem.
Good luck in your search.

Looks like this former Badminton player/coach got tangled up in the net.

People cross the Thai/Lao border all the time with bicycles. It's no problem at all. Lots of people cycle from Vietnam to Laos and then on to Thailand at various border points including the one you intend to use.

I have avoided flying Thai Airways internationally for many years. It's pretty easy as they don't serve the city I live in at my home country. I would have to fly somewhere else first and make another connection. There are many other Asian carriers that serve the city near me so I just fly with them. Plus the other carriers are all significantly cheaper to fly with.

I agree that a 90 day visa on arrival or something similar to that would be very beneficial to Thailand and tourists alike.

The US has launched a number of strikes today against targets they have designated as being hostile. How long this will last is anyone's guess.

I stayed at the hotel next to it back in December. It is a very nice view. Not sure I would want to pay 500 baht at the place with the Skywalk.

I think a 90 day visa free program would be very good for a lot of people whether they stay 45, 60, or the full 90 days. If they can easily extend for an additional 30 days that might be even more attractive. A lot of older people want to escape the northern hemisphere winter and this might suit them well. It's definitely better than what they are currently doing.

I think it has more to do with FAA regulations regarding visibility and range.
The reason we have FAA regulations is because they weren't being safe in the first place.

The old saying comes into play here, "better safe than sorry".

Are Lawyers part of the interrogtion process in Thailand?! That sounds mightyt Woke & Western for Siam.
According to a few different Thai legal providers having a lawyer present is one of your rights. Here is one such source.

Seems odd that he would confess after an interrogation of five hours. Where was his lawyer?

Sounds like if you are up in the Soi Buakhao, Soi Lengkee, Tree Town, and Soi Pothole area you will definitely be on your own.

I think Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara will soon be walking back some of the comments he made when the tourism goals for China fall very short of their targeted numbers.

So many possible outcomes to this scenario. The new Swiss husband, the sister, other relatives, even the abbot of the nearby Wat could all be possible suspects. Or maybe she just ran off with the money to start a new life somewhere else.

"During the inspection, authorities found four customers whose urine tested positive for drugs, indicating substance abuse within the establishment."
Only indicates that they had drugs in their system. Doesn't tell you precisely where the drugs were consumed. They could have taken the drugs earlier in the evening elsewhere and depending upon the type of drug, it could have been a day or more earlier.

So you lived in a waterfall? Okay. Well I saw trash everywhere. Very few places open during the day and the entire city closes at 2pm. The most vile immigration staff you could imagine even worse than Thailand. You can't even find a coffee anywere. They can't speak English and the staff just stare at you in silence. The mall is covered in feces and 90 percent of the shops where closed. The airport closes at night. There are no street lights or bridges to cross the roads and school kids are forced to run across high speed motorways. People park on the sidewalks which forces you into oncoming traffic. They don't have taxis at all in any form. The city is totally dead at night and it is over run with packs of dogs. The country is communist. They don't have TV stations of their own only fuzzy ones coming from Thailand. Alcohol and bargirls are completely banned by law. And the maid threw water over me in the toilets. Disgusting country.
This is utter nonsense! I have experienced none of what you describe in my numerous visits to Laos over the past 25 years. The beer Lao is quite good too!

Fortunately I think due to the sensibility of most Thai people I don't think that woke disease will seep into the general population, ever. I think Thais have wisely rejected the whole bag of woke (not conscious) nonsense.
I hope that the Thais have rejected it!
Can you imagine the difficulty Thais will have in learning English with all the new "politically correct" pronouns and their usage?
