hmm... let's see where the wind blows first....very likely in the matter of 24, 48, or 72 hours, this government will not be around to haunt me for an election date anymore....
wait and see...
I think we are in for a big surprise. I bet my future TV posting that the General will shortly side with the care taker government and bolster them until new elections are immediately forced on us. It will be a sad day for democracy in Thailand if this becomes a reality.

I think the naughty boys in red shirts are going to get their bottoms spanked by the boys in green if they aren't careful.
The Army just shut down Suthep's speech on the internet. Knocked off the air without any warning. The redshirts are still broadcasting live on speed horse TV. Talk about a double standard. Seems the red TV supporters are not too concerned when the red shirts are not banned from broadcasting their rally.

BlueSky backup is on channel 30 on IPM satellite programs. Their program is on the air now and is totally about the Royal Family. No politics.

The caretaker government wanted Martial Law - it is the only way to have elections and stop the PDRC/Suthep/Fake Monk.
This is why Thaksin says its expected............. it was, totally expected. The only way to stop the Judiciary from protecting the PDRC was Martial Law........... now its in the Judiciary are powerless and the army can oversee elections. Was it Martial Law agreed over Skype ?
This is what Surapong said on the 16th of May........
http://www.nationmultimedia.com/politics/Surapong-voices-support-for-martial-law-30233791.html
"But they may control the situation to prevent violence by declaring martial law, which is not a coup," Surapong said.
"If martial law is declared, the military will run the operation to maintain security and the CAPO will not get involved. And I believe that if the martial law is declared nationwide, the election can be held."
I think you hit the nail on the head. Great post. I, for one believe that General Prayuth is a puppet for Thaksin. Only time will tell if I am correct.

With Suthep gone, you Pro non democratic gov posters should be crying, you lot will have no one now to use as scapegoat for your super failure to govern within it's oath it gave.
Rice---tablets---water management---amnesty--refusal to have question time on TV----Money missing--no accounts----Sutheps Fault
Election
Representative Constitutional Convention
Referendum.
Time has always been on the side of the government and time continues to be on the side of the government. Suthep, the PDRC, the judges, the advocates of a military mutiny coup d'état, the senate - they and their whole gang of feudalists - are unable to stop time or to turn back the clock.
Give up the ghost.
And keep on laughing cause it will help get you out of your doldrums.
Publicus, why are you supporting the pro government cause? Aren't you really just mad that Thaksin can not come back to his country, because of Suthep rousing the people of Bangkok to stop his movement. It seems your rants are just a cover for your real goal, giving the country back to Thaksin. Oh these Suthep people are delaying Thaksin's return. Poor Thaksin. I bet you believe it would be so nice if he could be President for life and then the country would not have to be bothered with elections again.
I can't understand if you are short sighted or just don't care. I only hear you complaining about Suthep. Please explain how you think that Thaksin will help the country. Look at what he's done over the past 3 years. Or should I say what he has messed up. It would be nice to hear and understand why you support him?

Who needs a Constitutional court and Legislature when they have Thaksin. A waist of time and money. Thaksin can do it all. His way or No way!

..such a thing would set Thailand back 30 years. Disastrous proposal.
Make that 60 years, we have just lost 30 years through 2+ trillion unaccounted for, wakey wakey.
May I make a point, NO politician with any crime/tarnished record to stand for election for starters, applies to all parties.
Get some agreeable proposals from the remainder to add some urgent reforms, extra strict new laws-reform police.
Spot on. It's insane how Thailand allows criminal elements to be voted in. Look at the mess of uneducated MPs the Pheu Thai put up in the last election and how much damage they did in 3 years. No clue of how a gov't was suppose to be run. Politicians need to be screened for their qualifications and more importantly, their criminal history before being allowed on a election ticket. Reform needs to be implemented before the next election, period.

Hello,
My recommendation is to visit Malaysia instead of Philippines!
Agree, It will be extremely difficult for your family to assimilate with the local Philippine nationals. At least life is pretty mundane in Malaysia, or at least that was my experience I found while traveling around Penang with my Thai wife.
Maybe a short vacation to the PI would help confirm our concerns.
I am not aware of any good forums in the PI. Most are for meeting Filipina ladies.

She didn't have a dime transferred into her account. How can this be called corruption? Foreseeing substantial loss in the program is not good enough to convict her with the charges.
True. Of all the extreme corruption in Thailand, they chose to go after her. Totally unbiased...eh
Maybe because she was the PM? She was the head of her government, wasn't she? Isn't she ultimately responsible for what happens. And you call this unbiased?

Never going to happen without an elected government by the people and for the people is in place. People have a right to elect those who will make laws and reforms for them, not someone handpicked by the elite to hold their hands and tell them what to do.
Not when the current care taker has totally screwed up and destroyed the country. Do you think this is the type of government that the people of Thailand wanted and voted for? So many false promises.

Too late, the damage has already been done.

Talk about diplomatic doubletalk. The US is not helping the situation by insinuating that the Thai military will not initiate a coup. Thailand is on the brink of civil war and all the US can say is that they are pessimistic about the prospects of political compromise.

Finally those 2 words. Not a great show for this country in the short or long term. With ASEAN kicking off next year the last thing Thailand needs is to be stuck in the midst of a civil war. As ASEAN start to promote themselves around the world everybody will look at the other countries first, industry will move and Thailand might just discover that the world outside its borders has a far greater effect on it than it sometimes cares to believe.
This is exactly why Thaksin wants Thailand. ASEAN is going to change SE Asia and bring many opportunities to the represented countries here. Thaksin sees big money ahead, and he wants his hands on it. He could give a rats ass about improving Thailand as a whole. He is only thinking of how rich he'll become. I really believe he has planned this over the past 10 or more years. I also believe he will manipulate everything to his favor of becoming "President for Life". Therefore, Thaksin will not loose, as he has previously stated. If he can't have it, then he will destroy it. God help the Thai people.

So Jatuporn is now officially threatening the security of the state by promising a civil war. Isn't it time for the army to step in and protect the state, as they are sworn to do?
Yup.
Stepping in and aiding in the arrest of Suthep, while cleaning their thugs off the street would be most welcome by everyone.
Elections take place and let the people democratically vote in their leaders.
What makes you think that elections now would be democratic?

Imagine the masses of the North and North East coming to Bkk as well now? Who's masses would be bigger?? Now they won't come cause they need to work for lost rice money etc.. But still...
Thank you for the "lost rice money" comment; made my day.
Looks like we know who's masses are bigger.
Richard Barrow photo taken today at 11AM.
That is an unfair comment
Look at all the empty mats
these are for those who they hope will come
and will be counted i the final count as representing those who would have come but couldn't
The reality is, Thaksin is not doing anything to help these poor NE Issan farmers. He is just using them for his own gain.

Speaking of road blocks along hwy 2, where are the Red Shirts? I thought they were suppose to have a demonstration in BKK today. It is now after 10AM and no sign of a red rally. Have the police stopped them at the road blocks as Ginjag suggest? Just wondering.

It would be interesting to see the response of these protestors to a news reporters question of, Why are you protesting today?
I bet the average Red Shirt hasn't even got a clue. They were probably told to not worry as their leader just wanted them too.
No real understanding of the situation at hand. So sad.

It never ceases to amaze me, the mentality of some of these comments that suggest that the courts are bad.
Did it ever occur to you that Pheu Thai broke the laws while trying to run the government. Do you think the government is immune to any kind of punishment for what they have done? Or should I say, "above the law"?
It seemed to me that Pheu Thai was hell-bent on passing laws that they knew were against the constitution, but did it anyway, just challenging anyone to dispute their actions. Pheu Thai thought that because they controlled the House, they could do anything they pleased, because they had the will of the people. Such a menu for total disaster of their party. Now, they are having to pay the consequences of their actions and they don't want to. Pheu Thai, it's time you paid the piper. Goodbye Yingluck.

she might face legal actions if she resigned according to Section 181 of the Constitution.
She might face legal action?
So she was not given this advice when she transferred Thawil? She was not given this advice when the rice scheme crumbled? She was not given this advice when the PTP, not once, but twice committed voter fraud in parliament with the 2.2 trillion borrowing bill and the senate make up vote. No advice regarding legal action when it was deemed unconstitutional when they wanted to bypass democratic processes to get this loan.
I would sack my legal team and get competent lawyers. Unless of course this is all agenda driven responses.
Don't tell the gullible. Gotto keep the charade up that the PTP are following the rule of law and always have otherwise the "judicial coup" excuse for all their failings and utter disrespect for the law would be harder to swallow. Telling them otherwise would splash some proverbial egg on their faces and be highly embarrassing for the weak minded 1992 coup lovers.
I respect the constitution until it does not allow me to do what I want.
That is PTP logic right there.
Great analogy, nice to see you back on TVF.

songhua, the mob was leaving the ministry, because they were told, that tens of thousands are comming the clear the area.
there were only 80 representatives allowed to enter the ministry compound, the rest stayed in the distance, where they were gathering from the morning.
Nice spin, but I find it hard to believe. Maybe the rest of the 79000 + got lost or delayed in traffic. Just guessing.

More intimidation. Surely the police will come up empty handed with no suspects or leads. How can the world ignore what's going on here? At least try to catch these idiot bombers and killers.

" Surapong said that he is especially concerned about 28 southern provinces beyond the jurisdiction in which the Internal Security Act is being enforced. "
First of all, Surapong need not be concerned about the presence - or lack of it - of the Internal Security Act. It hasn't had an once of effectiveness anywhere it's been applied. What Surapong is worried about is whether those 28 constituencies will have registered candidates - although it's an odd time to start thinking about now, after announcing the crisis has already past and peace and political stability will be restored soon once again. After all, as far as he and Chalerm are concerned - everything's in the bag - the election, everybody's participation, and a peaceful, orderly and successful election. Why ? Because Yingluck met the EC on Wednesday. So it's all set, you see. Chalerm assures us everybody will be contesting. And everything will go smoothly. Absolutely no mention of Abhisit's discussions with party leaders or his own astonishing personal offer. Exactly what planet does Chalerm inhabit ? And has Surapong woken up from his deep sleep yet ?
Hello Mr Scamper. As usual you are occupying the area of ground that we call "nutcase alley". Get out of there, man! You could have a good life if you just rejoined the normal world.
Look, Mr Scamper, you are getting obsessed with the minutiae of Mr Chalerm and the EC etc. Instead, you should keep focussed (as we all should) on how democracy works.
This is how democracy works. I can't say it more simply than this:
You have an election.
You propose candidates for the consideration of voters.
The voters vote.
Someone wins.
That's democracy. Do you finally get it Mr Scamper? If not, just read the above again. Then again.
People all over the world get it. Why not you?
Or do you need one of your ammart idiot friends to tell you their usual lying fairy tales:
"...democracy is not the answer because Thai people are too stupid to vote".
What country are you from Mr Scamper? Russia, North Korea, China? You clearly have had your views manipulated by living in a country where the democratic process does not hold sway.
Anteater, do you really believe Thaksin cares about democracy? Do you really believe the elections here in Thailand are fair?
You can bet your last baht that after the elections in July, Thaksin will win due to a slanted and uneven election playing field. After that, there will be no more democratic elections as we know it. Thaksin will be president for life. Mark my words!
Thaksin does not care one bit about the people of Thailand. He is all out for himself and his family and he wants control of the whole country without any interference or any groups standing in his way of total rule and domination of Thailand. He's already said independent agencies are not needed.
You must be blind not to see the writing on the wall. Maybe you are just comfortable with Thaksin's idea of democracy, but I am not.
Dream on thinking Thaksin will bring true democracy to Thailand.

Yes minister Surapong, we believe you because you're a man of honesty and integrity and everything that comes out of your mouth has been the truth so far.
Don't you have anything else to do! Totally pathetic posts one after another!
Calling the kettle black, are we? I have yet to see anything intelligent you have posted. But always good for a laugh.

EC says government proposes August 3 as new election date

Ouch, that hurts. I for one, am not or have never supported Pheu Thai, as you might see in all of my previous posts. I'm just saying the odds are stacked against us and it is looking even worse for the PDRC movement after the enforcement of martial law. I really hope I'm wrong, but right now, it doesn't look good.
