  1. i am certain that there are cockroaches in the crank shaft, and/or fleas in the flumigator.

Ok, its obvious the TV unit is not faulty but there is an environmental impact from something in the location. What happens if you relocate the set, same problems, or normal operation?

Work backwards and identify any changes to the environment where the set is located and try to eliminate each change, one at a time until you identify whatever is interfering with normal operation of the TV.

    Have fun.

  2. Hmmm...,the first AC unit i purchased in Thailand was a Mitsubishi "Heavy Industry" series which was slightly more expensive than the regular home units but it was so quiet and efficient that I would have to recommend this model. I have always favored Daiken, but have had mixed success with them. Daiken are either really good performers or problematic it seems. I would go with Mitsubish heavy industry models most definately. I have two el-cheapo LG's now in one of my condos and they are performing superbly despite their many negative ratings.

    Hope this helps.

  3. ok, so, "Between January and June, some 1,124,234 Chinese tourists..." visited Thailand. Thats about 6,244 Chinese arriving each and every day for the past six months?? Boe-shit...who can believe that load of <deleted>!

That is an interesting calculation and probably equates to about 15-20 planes per day from China. It would be interesting to see if there are that many planes per day....

Over 30 direct flights from mainland China and almost another 30 from Hong Kong on an average day.

Very unlikely all those flights originated in China/HKG and all passengers were Chinese?

  4. You can purchase a TG flight online for her but you must fax your credit card details and authorizations to them, otherwise the card holder must present the card at checkin! You can effect a pre-paid tcket from the UK as well which she can pick up in BKK or just show her ID at check-in if an e-ticket arrangement , need to check with a travel agent there and/or the airline you wish to purchase the ticket with.

  5. It will be pretty difficult to keep the minimum amount for a retirement visa in the bank if you can't open a bank account without a work permit.

New retirees will be expected to keep their 800,000 baht in a Thai national's account biggrin.png

I recall reading a few months ago that the banking rules have changed for foreigners on retirement visa's, in that the required funds (800,000 THB) can be maintained in a Thai OR foreign account of your choice. Can anyone very/confirm this?

  6. perhaps it should be noted that you retain your Gold status for 2 years with ROP plan but only one year for Air Canada, so it may be more benficial to switch to ROP especially if you reside in the region! Also, when I book airline travel rewards a few days or weeks in advance with ROP there are always seats available on my dates, however with AC you get little or no selection unless you book MONTHS in advance, ie, 6 months or more! With either program you enjoy star alliance benefits worldwide. Switch to ROP, you will be better off for it!
