I'll tell you one thing I'm sure of, Thai people will never pay back your money.

This is very true Many years ago my brother in law borrowed money for a tractor  ( 50 %)  on the understanding he paid it back in 6 months  which was also when the shop wanted their final payment of 50%

After 6 months not only couldn't he repay the loan but he had to borrow another 50% or lose the tractor ... Of course muggings here lent him the balance ,,,never to be repaid of course. You never lend money to a Thai you just give it to them with the knowledge  " Farang pays " ....Of course after 15 years I am pretty street wise now and tight as a ducks arse

  2. No sympathy for these fools who think they will get rich quick. As I have told many potential scam victims " Nobody gives you money "

They deserve to lose their money but incredibly they actually went to the police to complain and show how stupid they were.

There have been many well publiced cases similar to this But greedy people never learn

Good grief; 500 baht? Of course it's good to report thieves if not hang them too, but I would write it off as a lesson in poor judgement , naivety, carelessness, and a lack of common judgment while travelling in a foreign country. Needless to say, it's a bad thing that lazy idiots have to steal baht from good hearted, fun filled farang, but gee.  Me, I would have swiftly wrote it off as a lesson and have learned from it. Lot's of police hours, sacrificed vacation time drinking beer at Thapae Gate, added stress, loss of face... ... ... ...

     500 Euros, NOT Baht

Actually it said 550 Euros, Which is just over 21,000 Baht at today's rates.... You can buy a lot of beers and lady drinks for that

  4. Thailand = poor education, poor healthcare, unstable relationships ( between Thais ) , Poor integration ( We are Thai you are a Farang and always will be ) No property ownership for a non Thai, Very few job opportunities , poor safety for children ( hundreds have disappeared without trace )  etc etc etc BUT I love it here despite all its restrictions . Low cost of living at the moment and relaxed lifestyle

  5. Looks like a real shanty town and doesn't do a thing to enhance the area. Just makes a few Thais and officials a lot of dirty money....Don't just dismantle them, demolish them and return the area to nature... Prosecute all the officials ( NOT MOVE TO IN-ACTIVE POSTS ) that allowed this to happen Including public utility services like water, electricity, and sewage. Without these utilities these businesses would not be able to be built or operated.
