  1. There have been no public statements regarding who supplied the money for these bribes. In fact there has been no mention where the money came from or whether the police were looking into it. This whole farce is about finding scapegoats to protect the wealthy people in Thailand.

Are the police really afraid of money people / families or are they just protecting their own interests?

Look at that underage brat that killed about 12 people the other year because her family allowed her to drive even though she was underage and unlicensed. She even refused to do community service because it did not suit her lifestyle. And what did the the police d0 ? SWEET FA !!  ....... Rich laws again.

I took this policy out 6 months ago.  But 2 of the conditions are

    1. You are not covered for the first 14 days after you have taken out and paid for your policy

    2. You have to be resident in Thailand at the time and the coverage is only for Thailand.

It is the same rate whether you are Thai or a foreigner

There is no age related premium.

    why winemaking factory?
Only the grapes can be vinified.
We are talking about plant wine.
The Thai who fled would have mixed grape and plant wine, as suggested by one of the sentences.
But at the sight of the workshop, it's just disgusting.
    And some drink it.

Was it a Thai who fled ? This was not in Thailand this was in Cambodia. Although I agree  Thai wine is <deleted> like their paint stripper Loa Khoa, Thais laughingly call whisky

Do you believe what you posted:

"if you get sick with the virus you cannot hide it from the authorities (unless you curl up & die)

    & would need medical attention"

Have you ever lived in a province away from the city and been part of a Thai family and observed the culture when someone gets ill.  If you had you would understand that people die at home all the time surrounded by family and the government never knows until the police report is filed and the certificate of death is presented to start the other processes the family needs to do, property, etc...

If you have then you would not have made such a silly comment as this is and always will be a third world country, even with some of the top facilities they have here.  Very few go to the hospital except to get some meds, least of all being removed from family and when dying to not have them near......

I don't know which provinces  you are referring to. But it most certainly is not Kalasin, where hospital out-patients are packed with hundreds of people every day. I go for my H.T. check every 3 months and have to wait with up to a thousand people every time. To see a doctor for 2 minutes takes all day starting at 7 a.m.  Thai people will go to the doctors even with a common cold ( before the virus ) whether it is a hospital out-patients or a " road-side "  clinic. But as you say if people die they are dispatched very quickly. It is scary at times. Last year I visited a friend and talked to her in hospital in the morning, and went to the first day of her funeral in the afternoon. Most people when they die their bodies are sent home immediatly and funeral rites start straight away. There is never a full autopsy to determine the cause of death.  So it makes you wonder what the TRUE Covid death figures are.  Also their bodies are cremated in days so there is no way to check the cause of death.

  5. My wife works at the local Tessaban and is not happy having to still work over Songkran.

Songran is not cancelled or posponed, it is just the usual rowdy water fighting and official stage shows that have been cancelled.

In fact everyone at my wife's office have put on their Songkran shirts today.....I hope that is as far as it will go.

But I know from previous years they always had a big show of the tradition Songkran celebration with the older people in the community which is water GENTLY poured over their hands.  Also the Tessaban gave all the old folks in their area Songkran gift parcels which usually consisted of towels and blankets.

  6. There is a limit on how high you can legally build a boundary wall.

The Land office is a waste of time. before we built our house we had the Land Office come round and oficially check all the boundaries ( they cemented in official concrete boundary posts ( small cylindrical posts with an official cement seal )  It was found ALL our neighbours had encroached on the road and gained 1 - 2 metres of extra land which wasn't theirs. The land office admitted they would do nothing about it.

My advice is to put a small electric cattle fence on top of the wall. NOT a Thai style electric fence conected to the mains, but just a low voltage pulse fence that would give him a kick if he touched it.

Tired of this old chestnut. Thailand has a number of alcohol free (banned) days every year, yet those of us who have been here a while (and especially those who have a basic command of the language) never have a problem in obtaining from our local mum & dad shops. Add to this the ready availability of Lao Khao for those prepared to disintegrate their liver, and few Thais outside the capital are likely to be affected.

I am in a village near Kalasin and even our small village shops will not sell alcohol at the moment. Which is very unusual as they will normally sell it at any time even on Buddha days. Where will the monks get their booze now?

The only 'gambling' i see is whether the claws will hang on to the toy or not... other than that, these machines are just a big con and they have been around for many years and only in this country they're classified as gambling...Oh well...

These crane claws are carefully balanced to prevent you winning so they cannot realistically be called gambling as the odds are 90% in the favour of the machine owners

  9. I was always told if you are a tourist you must have either a return ticket or a ticket for onward travel out of Thailand .

Has Thailand changed this rule .

Also as the sign is written in English and he appears to be at an airport. The sign is aimed at English speaking Tourists not local people

It would be interesting to know about this allegation that Thais stole ALL his money.  Does he mean it was physically stolen from him or was he a victim of a scam or his own stupidity here ? But more likely he got involved with a Bar girl ( and her pimp / husband )

If it was stolen and reported to the police then I am sure his embassy would assist him getting home, but if he was scammed he is on his own

I know with the British Embassy they will not give you money or even a loan but they will contact someone in your own country to help and arrange for them to send money to you.
