  1. I've get the same sort of requests from girls in KK area they want falang (stuff the r) husbands, seriously I've got about 10 who want one now but none of the blokes I know I would dare introduce to any one from my villiage.

    There must be a way???

Me too Bronco, in fact I steer clear of these ladies(not young girls) as they really do put pressure on me and my wife, I too would not introduce any of the available guys I know for fear the girl and/or her family would come looking for me in retalliation for my introducing "my friend" to her, this would only be about one month down the road.

  2. Thank's everyone for your replies,

I did check the one link to that shipping company, it gave me an idea what to expect. I want to check into other's too.

Dutch , please let me know what co. you went with when you decide.

Goat roper, did you have a problem shipping something? What happened ?

Anyone else have a problem or a good company that they know of ?

    Thank's again

    Jeff

Our personal effects and a few items of furniture layed in customs here int the Kingdom for five weeks until the company I was working for finally said I needed to pay some "Tea money", cost me and extra Baht 12,000 plus my stuff had been gone through and a few items were missing, the customs people garanteed my stuff had not been tampered with but the packing list and manifest did not match what I shipped from the states, I finally wound up dropping the whole deal, accepted what furniture I had left, paid the "Tea Money" and got on down the road, I had work to do.

Np sir, I won't ship anything else of this nature into the LOS.

A friend of mine shipped a car in from the states in 2001(he was warned not to), took him three months to clear the car through customs and had to pay an extra US$6000 plus all the crap he went through, his employer(a multinational oil co) would not touch it or pay one satang, I'll say again, he was warned.

  3. Solar cells to power up rural life

    Published on Apr 19, 2004

For households not on the national electricity grid, good news is just around the corner. The Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) is to offer people living in remote areas without electricity free solar cells, thus allowing them to generate their own power from nature.

The PEA has initiated a project called the “Solar Home System” to provide the free cells.

“Once the cells have been delivered and installed, those households should be able to generate up to 120 watts a day, said PEA deputy governor Prawat Siripatrodom.

At that rate, he said, people will be able to light two 10-watt bulbs while watching a 14-inch colour television for four hours a day. The PEA plans to begin installing the solar-cell panels next month.

Those interested can apply at PEA’s branches nationwide. Last year field officers went out to inform villagers that the project would be starting up the following year.

The participants will get the solar cell free but they will have to pay maintenance costs.

Prawat said around 290,000 households across the country could use these cells, leading the PEA to implement the plan in two phases.

The first, beginning next month, is aimed at installing the cells in around 150,000 households, which is expected to require a Bt4.2 billion budget. Prawat said everything should be complete by the end of this year. After that, the authority will begin the second phase, reaching out to the remaining houses, at a cost of Bt3.6 billion, with everything up and running by the end of next year.

“We hope that the project will let people enjoy the basic infrastructure the majority of the country has had for a long while, as well as open their eyes to new and wonderful things,” he said.

Prawat noted that solar cells were an environmentally friendly alternative energy source.

Look in the area of Tung Mahamek, a short distance from Sukhumvit, good area, close to shopping, near Silom Road, hospitals near by; everything one needs.(not to mention Pat Pong is in striking distance by foot or a 50 Baht Taxi ride). :o

  5. Man charged over 'air rage'

LONDON: A man from south Wales has been charged with drunken and disruptive behaviour on a flight from Thailand, it has emerged.

Car salesman Michael Jones, 46, was taken away in handcuffs by police who boarded a Thai Airlines aircraft after it touched down at Heathrow Airport on New Year's Eve.

Airline staff alleged that a man had been drinking excessively and smoking in the toilets on the flight from Bangkok.

That boozing it up and smoking in the toilets will do it every time. :o

  6. Anyone hear of a guy in Udorn by the nic of Lucky, he came to Thailand about 18 months ago and settled in Udorn. He is a retired US Marine, I lost track of him a few months back and no one knows anything about him which is strange to me.

    I will appreciate any leads.

  7. goat roper, re: interminable business meetings, excellent observation. A meeting starting at 0900 hrs cannot adjourn until lunch is served and eaten at about 1300hrs...same all over Asia.

Best to append to the agenda 'lunch will not be served to freeloading scumbags with nothing to contribute to the discussion'...

    ###### tutsiwarrior, that works for me and you are correct about this lunch deal. I have been in meetings that began at 10:00 am and adjourned at 20:00 hours, not once but several times over the years and the BIG boss is the one that held these, he liked to hear himself talk and enjoyed seeing his underlings listening(my self included). ######!!!, I am glad I'm gone. :o

  8. I have been around as a guest for a few weeks now and just recently signed up but want to go on record saying this is a great site, well managed and interesting topics to read or complain about.

    Good Job folks!!

  9. A guy goes to the Government to interview for a job.

The interviewer asks him, "Are you a veteran?"

The guy says, "Why yes, in fact, I served two tours in Vietnam." "Good," says the interviewer, "That counts in your favor. Do you have any service-related disabilities?"

The guy says, "In fact I am 100% disabled. During a battle, an explosion removed my private parts so they declared me disabled, it doesn't affect my ability to work, though."

"Sorry to hear about the damage, but I have some good news for you, I can hire you right now! Our working hours are 8 to 4. Come on in about 10, and we'll get you started."

The guy says, "If working hours are from 8 to 4, why do you want me to come at 10?"

"Well, here at the government, we don't do anything but sit around and scratch our balls for the first two hours. No point of you coming in for that."

  10. On 12 April TG 602 three passengers had doubly confirmed seats. ( Business Class) All Gold Card holders. This means reservations confirmed either by phone or at TG office in Hong Kong. On arrival at Don Muang we were told no seats!! One of the passengers had the same experience two months ago, posted here on Thai Visa website. Thai agent at checkin agreed this was unacceptable. Only by extreme intervention of Elite Card agent were we transferred to Cathay, Economy.  Now all business will go to Cathay.

Aren't Thai Inter Gold Card holders guaranteed travel even if it is up the back ?

I was required to fly TG for the twelve years by the Thai company I was contracted to, we always flew business class and for the life of me I never understood why the owner (my boss) of the company insisted on TG, I will say TG did have a good couple years around 1992-93(my opinion). I/we flew over a million miles with TG and as far as I know I never saw any thing that would remotelysuggest that we were good customers of TG. Just generally poor service both on the ground and in the air.

To be fair to TG et al I have not flown with TG since 2001, just wanted to qualify my gripe.
