We get it, you don't want to go to Hua Hin. If that's the case you have nothing to worry about. As far as 10K for a weekend trip being expensive for many people that is nothing. 10K wouldn't pay my room for two days whether the room is in Pattaya or Hua Hin.

I didn't say it was expensive. I said I could put it to better use in Pattaya
    Don't misquote me thanks

  2. My understanding is that Huahin is a small coastal town with shops, hotels, restaurant, bars and beaches. Currently a 6 hour journey now only one and a half it will encourage me to visit there. The fact that so many TV board members of a certain type are promising to boycot the ferry is both promising and encouraging.  Count me in-its cheap at the price and fast. As for the Pattaya to Koh Lan ferry being 30 baht-it should be increased to a 100 baht to give all the staff better wages.

Agreed on the ferry price it should go up, but koh larn has high thai tourist numbers especially thai teenagers who are not flash with cash

But getting back to the hua hin service being affordable

    Return ticket 2400
Half decent hotel for two nights 3000
Entertainment for two nights, this is subjective but let's say 6000

That's over 10k for a weekend trip To a place that really is a dumbed down version of Pattaya. I'm in jomtien and I can certainly put that 10k to better use in 2 days right here

  3. I used to live in New York and there it is standard practice of tenants to just not pay the last month of rent on the contract, letting the landlord keep the security deposit as the last month's rent. Much cleaner and simpler that way. Of course in the US rentals are typically not furnished in any way and certainly no glasses or dishes or furniture to be broken. The only wear and tear often is that the home needs a new re-painting of all the walls between tenants moving in and out but that's standard and all landlords would normally do that anyway. So, at least there, if your rent was $1000 per month and you had to pay $3000 to move in - $1000 for first month, $1000 for last month, and $1000 for security deposit - you normally would just skip the last 2 month's rental payments. I'm not sure how well that would fly in Thailand.

If you think that's bad, I also was once a landlord in Florida where the common joke among tenants signing leases is that if a house is offered at $1000 per month, they joke that they'd pay $2000 up front, the first and last month's rent, the joke being that the 2nd $1000 is the last monthly rent payment that they'd ever make, and quite often that would be true, as after making that $2000 payment and skipping a few month's rent, it would take a year it more to evict them, many years if they have kids, and then they'd just go find another landlord victim.

There is very cheap land lord insurance to cover for rotten tenants. It's cheap because in reality 95% of rentals in the west run smoothly

you of little experience!  It doesn't matter if it is a western lady or a Thai lady. The guy always picks up the tab. Think about it?

That's no longer the case in the west and hasn't been for many years. Western women are very independent earning similar wages to men and refuse to be bought off buy guys flashing cash. In fact loads are happy just using a guy for sex.. Tables have turned

When living with Western women I always shared all expenses

  5. Nai harn beach is a completely different place, from what it was a couple of years ago... there's no doubt that a difference is being made.

the question is, how fast will it revert to what it was, once a government is elected.

The army will still hold a Lot of power regardless of who is elected. You wouldn't want to risk pissing them off and reversing all of their work, that would be political suicide IMO

I have to disagree, yes there are hookers on dating sites, they are pretty easy to identify and filter out. Maybe 10-20%.
I have met and dated lots of girls from dating sites, school teachers, bank workers, even a girl that worked at an immigration office.

Yes I agree I was over exaggerating for emphasis. I to have dated girls on line and there were some gems but as you say filtering was necessary

    Your freaking me out lol
There are 2k rooms if you want to share with 3 hookers. That's probably the better option or you can sleep on 7/11 steps for free

    Are you really that thick?

  11. just another example of the greedy mindset - take take take but not willing to spend 1 baht on the environmental mess they create, aren't all the Islands the same - isn't there a very obvious problem that has been going on for years

My guess is this one is next on the list after the army finishes with samet today and it will be cleaning up the human garbage as well

  12. i know a canadian guy. cops stopped him on his scooter and asked for some cash for him not having a helmet. he started having a go at them about corruption. cop wrote him a ticket, he wasted half a day at the cop shop paying the ticket. he keeps his mouth shut  now.
so true about all the foreigners loosing their property if they decide to clamp down on that.
we should enjoy it for the way it is, or leave. its not going to change. the army are just having a turn at the trough. wont last for ever. thaksins third cousin once removed will be back after the road map has been completed or the cops can get enough money to start some riots.

William the brown nosing brown bag boy. Are you this sleazy in real life as well? Encouraging riots by the way isn't very bright, you won't have enough brown bags to get you out that pickle
