  1. Don't know how to delete photos. Post shorted for brevity.

Sorry, but I scorn the whole "learn the language" fallacy. Basic Thai is all that is required in most parts of Thailand. Even if living in the village, unless alone for some strange reason, conversational Thai is not necessary.
I have been living in Thailand long enough to be able to say that. Unless one actually wants to hang with Thais that speak no English, and I certainly don't, it has never been necessary.
However, that's not to say one should not do so if one wants to spend the time and effort.
As for dating bargirls ( hookers ), I have met many that are lovely people, and don't deserve the disrespect you and others give to them. Of course some are bad people, just like many non hooker people I have had the misfortune to associate with, but not all by a long chalk.

Same here. Living lower sukhumvit Bangkok and spending time in pattaya means I have zero use for the language and I certainly have zero interest in befriending Thai men who are the only thais that don't speak any English

I was referring to long term expats, people with families and real estate etc, not long stay holiday makers living hand to mouth.

Me to. Why would a holiday person not use air con? These were hard core long termers and besides everybody knows chiang mai is a tight arsed pensioners wet dream.

  3. Bkk History for me, as little as possible,  Don Muang airport,  first ride in a Tuk-Tuk,  the floating market thingy a museum and only because we were waiting for UK Embassy return visit.

Wouldn't live there if ya paid me.

Reality is most can't afford to live there.. Because of what they are paid but none will admit it preferring to say I love living in a rice paddy surrounded by drunken Thai men, roosters and yapping dogs.. Oh well..

  4. If I still wanted to get to know some of those ladies in Nana or Cowboy, I wouldn't give a rat's bottom about where the bosses money came from, but I would be thanking the deity that such places exist.
BTW I know enough bargirls to know that any reference to trafficked or forced participation is BS, if that is what you were implying.

It's a perceived notion in the west that Thai hookers are forced into the trade and locked in cages blah blah

  5. No, am serious. ive no idea what they are but I see most of the question has been just answered.

Still don't know what outfall is though. Google suggests "the place where a river, drain, or sewer empties into the sea, a river, or a lake." but I dont think that is whats meant.

I was kidding, I have no idea why he would think anyone would understand his secret codes

  6. So Bt.1000 per day all in, must be an exciting and fun filled 2 weeks !!

I think he is talking about a 500 baht lady boy BJ on beach Rd pattaya and then sharing a chicken and sticky rice meal before crashing out on the sand for the evening

I think you'll find the average is around 55k a month.

Ha ha ha, no way! I just spent a month there and stayed in a condotel with many long term residents and recall one conversation about electricity bills and turned out none used air-conditioning, and it was hot!

I think 200 baht electric bill was the average lol

I suspect the biggest category (who are effectively ultimately achievng the same as suicide) are those who are drinking themselves to death and in reality know it and don't want to change it.  I agree it could be because they they do not want to go back to 'whence they came' or indeed because they have lost their souls. Difficult to understand (as per Thread topic) and thought provoking.

Drinking and poverty. If you have wealth and are an alcoholic there are options available but alcoholic and poverty is a dead end

  9. Very few real estate transactions go bad in Australia and if they do the buyer is covered by a real estate fund set up nationally by estate agents and the government and gets their money back
Crooked corrupt people who try to sell real estate in Australia do not last long and can look forward to a long holiday at the governments expense
So they come to Asia where they can get away with just about anything as long as they do not try it with the wrong people
You can and people do loose money who invest in real estate funds operated in the share market, that's different like investing in any shares you take your chance on winning or losing

I grew up on the Gold Coast, there were more dud developers and con men there then you will ever find in Thailand! I never said there were no failed developments here so let it go

I knew what you meant, Peterw42.  Purchased a green tea smoothie thingy for my wife at Starbucks the other day and it nearly did come to an average days wages for a Thai.

But your talking about the lowest class of Thai who would never enter a Starbucks which by the way are always filled with middle and upper class Thai.

  11. You mean like all the people who put deposits on Ace Condos in Patong, supposed to be finish last January and the project has not even started or been approved, Are these among the millions  and countless people you are talking about
You sound like someone trying to sell overpriced, poorly constructed condos to newby expats
Who tells people not to trust Thai salespersons

Good try but where did I say "everyone" I said millions
There is dud real estate deals and bankrupt developments in every country on the planet
Got to say you don't come across as being very bright

  12. Never put a deposit on property here , to many people have been conned and lost their deposit

Pay the full amount in cash at settlement and have the chanote/title deed signed over to you at the same time, if people get a bank loan that is only paid at settlement by the bank involved and the bank has a mortgage  on the property if they are involved in the transaction

If furniture etc is included in the sale have a full inventory of the items involved signed by the owner and witnessed to make sure you receive all items involved in the sale

Basically buyer beware when purchasing anything here and do not trust anybody in the property business because its quite possible you could regret doing it

Forget legal action it will only cost you more money and be drawn out forever until you eventually give up and write the money of as a lesson learnt

Totall rubbish. Millions of thais and countless farang leave deposits every year without a hiccup.
