  1. I ordered an XC60 last year and when it arrived at the Bkk showroom the multi-media screen was clearly off by an angle of about 15%. The showroom promised to fix this before delivery, but when I went to take the delivery there were scratches around the dash area which the sales staff said could be "fixed" by retouching. Needless to say, I asked for my deposit back (took about 2 months to process) and I booked the new X3 instead (20% more expensive but worth it I think). How the Malaysians allowed such an obvious aesthetic defect to leave their factory boggles the mind.

  2. Its usually not the dog, its the owner. :(

A neighbor's maid was bitten by a dog a few blocks down the road in our moo ban outside Bangkok. The lady required several stitches on her leg as a result. It turns out the dog's owner, a farang, refused to compensate the lady for medical expenses. When our neighbor accompanied the maid to talk to them about this, the dog owners Thai wife actually had the arrogance to say that the maid shouldn't be walking around that area. She also asked my neighbor whether their house was bigger than her's. clap2.gif

  3. There are several old topics on this. People in Thailand are required to carry an ID, that includes foreigners. For foreigners there is an extra reason, as immigration has the power to detain you till they can determine that you are not staying illgellly in the country.

That's it in a nutshell, though there is some ambiguity whether a DL (particularly foreign issued) in lieu of PP is acceptable. My guess is that a DL is okay for all purposes unless you are detained by immigration squad in which case you would need to produce your PP in reasonable time.

  4. Let's all get together and call for the heads of those involved - all those uneducated, lowly-paid, heathen guides, officials and general 3rd world idiots.

How on earth could those petty imbeciles allow our educated, intelligent, well bred & generally better aware tourists (& english teaching volunteers) to endanger their own lives.

Oh Mummy - do call for the butler will you, I wet my nappies just thinking about this horrendously criminal 3rd worldly negligence.

  5. He said Wirat used to work for a local politician in Khok Samrong district and also had a drug-related criminal record.

    Is anyone surprised? :D

his department had given a Bt50,000 reward to the Provincial Police Region 6 team that arrested Wirat, which the police said they would give to the victim.
Kamronwit said a Bt30,000 reward for Provincial Police Region 1 and a Bt20,000 reward for the Lop Buri police might also be given to the victim.

    Well done! :o

  6. Is he not aware of the 'drug dealer killings' when the government went on that frenzy awhile back?

The frenzy continues to this day:

Police yesterday closed an investigation into the suspicious group hanging of three drug suspects in custody at Muang Lamphun police station.

The officer also referred to a crime scene investigation report as saying that all three men – Palakawa Phattakam, 24, Boonchu Sujipat, 22, and Pajansuk Ornjong, 19 – could have hung themselves on their own – by climbing up and tying their shoestrings to the overhead bars of their detention cell.

    -------------------

Yep... three simultaneous suicides, all by hanging, in their shared cell. Yep, nothing out of the ordinary or suspicious about that. :o

Where in Thailand could one get such long and strong shoe laces? :D

  7. Update:

Thailand will be 'slum-free' by 2008, says PM

BANGKOK: -- The government plans to declare Thailand a 'slum-free' country over the next three years, according to Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

It'll be a virtual paradise in 2008. Now that the country is already free of drugs, bird flu, influential figures....... :o

    cv

Isn't 2008 the year in which Thailand will be free from Toxin as well? :D
