  1. which are you celebrating?

1...The story of the birth of some obscure guy 2000 years ago that somehow got twisted making him the son of the invisible man in the sky in addition to the other myth about a man in a red and white suit who arrives on a sleigh pulled by reindeer to shimmy down the chimney and leave presents for children?

2...the celebration of avarice and greed where people go into massive debt to buy things they dont really want or need for themselves and others closely followed by stuffing themselves with rich fatty unhealthy food washed down by a lake of booze

the only people that deserve a mention at Xmas are the people that give up their holiday to cook and serve food to the homeless or go visit some old folks who feel even more alone than usual

Bah Humbug.hope you all have a miserable time and dont get the things you wished for

  2. saw a CBR250 today whilst stopped in traffic that had a set of hard pannier boxes along with rack/frame and a top box

I couldnt get near him due to the congestion to ask him where he got it and how much it was

I did see the box he had on has NAD on it and by the look of it all its probably made by this company

anybody know where to get it and how much?

Wonder what he would have said if you had stopped him and commented that he had a nice set of nads?

nads being British slang for balls

  3. Alright I can see this is going to require some stepping on of toes. I would use the term gentlemen but I don't really think it applies here. You WILL drop the rabidly misogynistic crap here immediately. I do hope I am making myself very very clear.

see what happens when u put a woman in charge...it goes to their head

this is meant to be a joke so dont send me emails about getting suspended or banned eh

  5. was in Global House today and spotted 1 metre high chain link fencing in 10 metre rolls for 769 baht

they dont sell the concrete posts however

a 40m roll of single strand barbed wire that I intend to put above the fence just to give it a little more height was 220 baht

  6. well Jeffrey here are two pics of gas stations that seem to be in dispute

the first is the google maps image for the PTT station in Mae Hia....this gas station is 50m past Makro and now sports a PT logo on a tall pole

the second is for a JIFFY station 750 m further on than Makro that a couple of posters have reffered to as the one

nowhere on the tall sign for this station does it say PTT

so may I suggest that in future you use the following to direct riders to the meeting place

ride past Makro and continue another 750 metres until you arrive at the JIFFY gasoline station on the same side

please be aware that Jiffy is also known as PTT but you would not know that unless you can read the small thai language logo informing you that it is a PTT station on the roof above the pumps

    Eyecatcher....please read my PM

  7. South side of the Super Highway access road just West of the river, big shop about 100 meters from the river, equipment and water tanks in front of it. They have it in different sizes.

any chance of more precise whereabouts ...thanks

you are traveling west on the super highway towards doi suthep and cross the river Ping river

at the first exit to the access road make a u turn (the access road is 2 way for that section), you will see it on the right

    OR

go north along the west side of the ping river to the super highway access road, the one on the south side of the super, and turn left, go about 100 meters and it will be on your left.

    OR

drive west on the inside of the moat from the north east corner, go about 100 meters to the first shop you see selling machinery, it is before the first u turn possibility on the left. go in that shop and talk to the owner, English will work, if he does not have the wire, ask him for directions to his families other shop on the super highway access road

    OR

open your copy of The Book of What Where and How to map page A6, it is probably 8 on that page, don't have the book? go buy one

Go check it out and report back on prices for the rolls.

no I dont have the book and do not wish to purchase it just to find this shop.... in the the time u have taken to visualise in your mind the three different routes and write them up along with your caustic comments why didnt you just put up a google map?

  8. £16 for a roast dinner and a bottle of Chang...my neighbour breaks his back in the rice field for 8 days for the same money....u must be havin' a laugh

haha natty dread good that you are caring about your neighbour.

for 8 days he would earn 2000 baht if he is a male and 16000 baht if a female

These are the new increased wages which went into operation at this years rice harvest for farm labourers.

The man wouild also have a bottle o whisky after each shift or ample bottles of whiskies actually to keep the men happy

and withouy thse offerings you would find it hard to find a worker.

Both female and males would be fed a lunch supplied by the person who is hiring them as you stated they earned a wage.

If they are are harvesting the rice field themselves for themselves ,like i do there is no wage only like you said a pretty sore back.

hahah 16000 for the female i did mean to say 1600,shocking i know that the men get more ,..

    good workers the Thai.

sorry if i diversed a bit from the original topic of xmas dinner.

cant stand smart asses .who spout nonsense and being a dread myself even more so when someone gives dreads a bad name

enjoy the meal and the atmosphere and good will to all men women and child as well as animals and nature each and every minute

whats on offer is way overpriced on the premise that its Xmas and people will pay a premium to pull a cracker and eat a glorified Sunday roast

that is my opinion even though it differs from most of the posters above who are no doubt good friends of the proprieter

I hope you all enjoy your Christmas fayre and Seasons Greetings to you all

I will save my cash and spend it on a sumptious all you can eat buffet (including beers) at the Shandy La or the Happyday Inn..spelling changed to avoid mod intervention on behalf of a sponsor

  9. Yeah, Pedr ignore it! It's a very fair price for a meal with so many imported items, generous portions and alcohol. Not to mention the excellent service and jolly atmosphere.

Some cowardly idiots just like to stir up trouble for people brave enough to identify themselves in anoymous forums. I seriously doubt nattydread would make the same stupid comment to you directly in person. Oh, Mr. Nattydread -- Pedr won't be "havin' a laugh" on Christmas day. He'll be too busy making sure all his guests have a great time!

I seriously doubt nattydread would make the same stupid comment to you directly in person.

why not?.anyway I have eaten in this establishment and the food was awful

  10. Everyone will top up at the normal meeting Mae Hia / Hang Dong PTT station

can you give me more precise directions to this location such as nearby landmarks...i will be coming from the Airport Plaza.....thanks

how many bikes do u usually have on this ride and what cc

    Highway 108

From Airport plaza head toward Hang Dong

Past Big C in Mae Hia (Middle ring road)

    Past Makro

PTT station on left (east) side of the road

I would guess usually 12 bikes of all sizes. Any is welcome

well i was planning on coming with you but was rather annoyed that the directions u gave led to a dead end

left airport plaza headed along hang dong rd past tesco.....,big c......... thru the lights......past makro and stopped in the PT station 100 metres past Makro

waited until 9.50am with no other bike there and decided i was in the wrong place so shot up to BigC in hang Dong looking for a PTT station

couldnt find one so came back to the PT station by Makro about 10.20am and asked the pump attendant had he seen any guys on bikes to which the answer was no

thanks for wasting my time, it seems Palexxxx was right about it being a "Secret Squirrel " hunt

  11. ^ looks like it's 'secret squirrel' stuff, they don't want new riders coming along. Very vague details in the original post and subsequent posts.

"Secret Squirrel" Sorry Don't know that club ?

Don't want new riders ? Though every post says any bike welcome

Very Vague details ? It is a regular half day ride every third Sunday of the month. The post all say were we meet, time, and where the ride is that month

You, and anyone is welcome, Sorry we don't send out written invitations we just post about rides here and anyone who wants more info can make a post or PM me or any of the other riders. Know a wonderful ride ? your welcome to make a suggestion or be a ride leader.

I think he is winding you up Jeffrey

  12. I live in a condo in CM and use the public WIFI system for my internet access

the past three months I have been having trouble reading UK newspapers online, they just wont load

    this includes..Guardian,Independent,Observer,Mail,Times

occasionally i can get some pages late on after 12am but even this is is spasmodic

my google search, youtube, facebook, ebay all work well so I am baffled why I am experiencing this problem

am using Windows 7 with Microsoft Essentials and malware Bytes

    any ideas?....thanks

  13. So now that intersection has 3 burger places on the corners, Mikes, Fat E. and The Riva, anybody tried the Riva burger for comparison, saw their banner the other day, looks like some competative pricing, how about quality?

tried the Riva a couple of weeks ago....wont be going back

  14. paid them a visit tonight as I love a good burger......happy to say that the burgers were better than before the shop closed a couple of months ago and they were good then.spoke to the owner who informed me he had been back in the USA on personal business for a couple of months but was now sourcing his burgers from a different supplier..my only complaint would be the price has gone up

110g cheeseburger with a handful of fries and a lemonade refill is now 175 baht which if my memory serves me correct is a jump of 30 baht

my other farang food haunt the UN pub does a steak and onion pie with mash, carrots.peas and gravy for 180 baht which is better value for the money

the Dukes does a 99 baht burger with fries tasty although not as good,,,,,,,so he is slightly overpriced in my opinion but still a cracking burger

  17. try boosting the receiving capability of your computer by getting a TP high gain aerial about 900 baht...plugs into usb on computer

i had problems with the wifi in my condo only showing 2 bars but thats upped to 4 sometimes 5 with the TP link

I also purchased a usb extension cable so i could move the position around the room for the best signal and keep the aerial away from me

internet is now much more reliable
