  1. NOISE!! But good quality in regards to the building.....

Everyone who bought at the Punna knew about the noise, and I guess just didn't care. In ten years time, Prasertland will be developed and half the noise will be gone. Maybe it will be a good investment then.

or maybe it wont !! After all the views are blocked out !! And the traffic is 10 times worse than it already is..Or perhaps Prasert will be developed into a hotel with a large beer garden and late nite disco !!

  2. Jokes aside, it could actually be a good sign that Immigration has done what they've promised lately, and that was to bring/transfer additional offiers to bolster staffing at Suvarnabhumi....

Note the ambassador said "NEW" officer... Probably got one who'd just been transferred in from Mae Sot and wasn't accustomed to getting U.S. diplomatic credentials...

maybe its PR to support the NEW immigration officers.

Actually doesnt make sense to me as Diplomats have their own channel at immigration!!

  3. Wouldn't it be rather nice if the Embassy of the different individuals here, were to get involved and demand the right to their own seperate autopsy.

Not just in this case, but all instances where there is doubt.

Such a demand will most certainly be made when the insurance companies get involved.

It will take a lot more than that to get the British Embassy involved.

Also one of the victims was Thai that leaves one NZ who I believe are already involved.

Perhaps one could check with them and see what there findings were. As for them doing there own autopsy. I really don't think they are set up for that. They could use another Thai for it. And if they didn't like his results get another one until they get what they wanted. Not going to happen. they may be government employees but they are not completely brain dead.

As a after thought do you suppose a Embassy could do as good a job as a insurance company.

jayjay0, I understand what you are saying. But yes I would like to think that an Embassy would do a better job than an Insurance company. As an Insurance Company, would be more likely to look at the costs involved and do a deal.

Frankly all and any dealings Ive had with Embssies over the years have come down to "thanks for letting us know, but dont call us we'll call you" attitude. Seems to me Embassies are are bit like the BIB, Too busy with other things to worry about helping their own nationals.

  4. Can only suggest you keep trying. Load on other websites. Bangkok Post classifieds ?

If your willing to give 2 months free rent, may be better in the tenants eyes to reduce the rent by that amount instead. Or include the electric and water in the rent that you asking. (make sure you calculate it out first ofcourse)

Put a notice in Villa Supermarket ?? Hang a sign at the Suk end of the Soi..

    Whatever it takes.

    Good luck.

  5. Now I know one of reasons we chose to live in Chiangmai.

    No need to use Swampy...

When we travel we fly Chiangmai - Singapore and onward ,

Immigrtion takes about about 5 minutes outbound and 2 minutes on arriving back,, AND the bags are waiting at the carousel already.

IF we ever do use Swampy we use Fastrack either provided by the airline due to our frequent flyer or flight classor pay for it...

No way are we waiting 3 hours in a que thanks to inneficiency of Immigration..:wai:

  6. 1) Fly business or First

    2) get a frequent flyer card

    3) pay extra with some airlines.

Actually i have never found turning up early to make any difference as the exit/bulk head seats are usually pre-allocated well before flight time to; peole with bassinet requirements, elderly, and gold card holders, pax who normally fly business but couldnt get a business seat on that flight. thats about the priority i have found.

As for airline staff travelling , actually the last rows in an aircraft are reserved for them unless the aircraft is not full then they can sit where they like.

  7. Why oh why do thye need a passport EVERY f,,ing time... especially at the branch where the account is based..

They have enough copies of my passport to fill a filing cabinet....

I don't think it is out of stupidity. I am pretty sure they have had too many bad experiences from thugs and cheats trying to con the bank out of money. Good on them for protecting our accounts.

    hi kyb

i wasnt suggesting it is out of stupidity.

If doing business at another branch ican understand the requirement for passport/ID.

BUT at the branch where the account was opened they already have all our details on file so why the necessity to produce passport every time the customer wants to do something - it is OTT for me.:)

  8. Actually for First , Business and Award card holders the time is 1 hour before departure..

But then I guess we have the advantage of using the VIP gate.

Also i think the time request from the airlines might have something to do with the number of passengers they have to check in for each flight..Cant really ask 300 people to turn up 1 hour before departure nowcan they??

The lines are Immigration are bcoz of innefficiency - lets just say it..

I fly a lot , through many airports and they dont have this problem because the immigration screeningis EFFICIENT - just look at Singapore Changi, if there are more than 3-4 people infront of you there they consider that a long queu.

More immigration officers, less processing time - is the answer.

  9. Yeah, I agree that Bangkok Bank is killing a forest of trees every month with all the copies , but I just learned to bring my passport with me whenever I want to conduct any business more complex than getting money from my account or turning those 1000 baht notes into smaller ones.

Another bit of advice is to select a branch bank that's convenient as your "home" branch. Ours is in Chiang Mai and, as we discovered during a recent in-country vacation, they charge a 20 baht fee for withdrawals that are "out of area" for your home branch.

Hi NancyL, our branch also in CM now keeps a folder with copies of passports of "regular" customers. The branch has many farang customers and we all objected to this ridiculous ongoing request for passport and copies on every occassion. So the manager instituted this'folder' - a bit of a brain this guy.

The 20 baht charge - is it charged on ATM withdrawals too - havent noticed it to be honest.

  10. I fly a lot. When passing through security the "unnacceptable items" bins contents include plastic and replica guns - Not permitted on aircraft. Only air-marshalls can carry guns of any description on aircraft. Even in Thailand armed forces personnel and police have to hand over their bullets and their gun is put in a security bag for collectionat the destination.

For checked luggage I dont know - best you ask the airline..before you pack your bags.

  11. thanks for the support gotlost...seems you r following me around the forum today.

at least it was some form of address confirmation .....

what amazes me with BBl is ive been there customer for 15 years and EVERY time i want to do something i have to provide my passport,, like, new passbook when the old one is full, new ATM card when the old one doesnt work through no fault of mine, change of address, and yes change of phone number, ..

Why oh why do thye need a passport EVERY f,,ing time... especially at the branch where the account is based..

They have enough copies of my passport to fill a filing cabinet....

I wonder why the bank doesnt have a more up to date technology and just "scan" the passport ( or for Thais their ID card) into their system - then it would be easy to go to any branch or do any paperwork and be easily identified... too much work i guess..

My you UOB has a system where they scan the signature cards so you can go to any branch to withdraw etc.. good one UOB.

Perhaps the resident BBL member can offer some insights into this paper warfare...that cant be made technologically more efficient.
