And the taxpayer is paying... Here is my proposal to reform legal processes: You want something, you pay for it. In this case, the lawyer/client should pay for the suicide watch expenses and the psychiatric eval. If the suspect is found not guilty they can get reimbursed. If found guilty, well the bill is paid. I can think of two effects: The lawyer will work extra hard for his client (as he should), and the lawyer will actually believe his client is innocent (as he also should). In conclusion, an all around positive incentive for the justice system and potential savings for the taxpayer, no?

"Despite being on bail"? The Thai justice system grants bail to perps with murder charges and then have the nerve to act surprised when they flee... This not only facilitates fleeing, it encourages more crime. But they know that. So, I am curious as to the actual motivation behind this bail practice for serious crimes, is it just the greed of raking in the bail money?

That's a warning? We can do better than that: a stark warning to the taxi drivers: blockade Suvarnabhumi Airport and face revocation of your license and jail time. -
In other words: The police needed a directive to do their job in general and are so proud of this that they publicly announced they needed to be told to do it. Otherwise they will simply not screen arrivals for outstanding warrants. I can see a near future where a directive from a Police Chief won't be enough anymore and he better add some incentive to it.
