klauskunkel replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News

I propose the "Flipping the Bird" ritual as a global intangible cultural heritage. It is recognized in pretty much every country on earth and is used by every social class, and usually receives a response in kind. It is in fact so pervasive that in the future it may very well replace all gestures of greeting and respect, from the casual "tip of the hat" to military salutes. It will take me about six months to work out all the details to support the proposal, before its submission to UNESCO.

A corrupt commission asks a biased court to dissolve a party because that party planned to amend a law, which they say would lead to an overthrow of "the democratic regime of the government"... Yet, the Thai military and Police have actually overthrown "the democratic regime of the government" since its inception so many times that Thailand holds the world record for the highest number of successful coups, and nothing ever has happened to those coup makers, they actually get appointed to one of the most venerated positions (Privy Council) after they are done ruining the country, which makes them untouchable due to those same laws. Disgusting.

Swiss national opts for jail after assaulting Thai woman in mall
klauskunkel replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Now, that's a proactive thing and it shows someone in the Police Force is thinking ahead, congratulations. It also confirms my suspicion that there is some sort of mechanism available that could prevent suspects freed on bail from fleeing the country. I do hope that some day this mechanism is actually deployed and can offer insight in why it works for some and not for others. Ahem, riveting stuff, this. -
