Permanent Transport Secretary appointed board member of Thai Airways, is that a conflict of interest, or does this concept not exist in Thailand?

"I do not wish to comment on the case because my remarks might fuel speculation and cause further confusion," Suphoth said.

Is she crying because she didn't sign up for this crisis? Because it caught her unawares and unprepared and it's all so unfair to her and being PM was about having fun and prestige and power and people swooning and not critizising? Maybe she is crying because she is just her brother's clone and not her own person? Or, she is crying because she is inadequate to lead the country in a crisis, making decisions that affect the lives and futures of her people and country? Or, because her cabinet and FROC and government agencies are equally inept, incompetent and only looking out for their own agendas as they do on any other given day since the inception of "Thai Democracy"?
Or, maybe a fly got into her eye. 7 times. Same fly!

It happens in many under-developed countries where police need to supplement their income.
Would you rather pay a 'spot fine' or go to the hassle of a trip to the police station to pay a much larger fine?
Some posters need to get off their collective high-horses. We who pay the spot-fines exacerbate the problem but the solution may be found in paying police a decent wage. I say 'may' bacause corruption is so endemic in Thai society that increased salaries may not fix the problem.
Best to always keep a few 100 baht notes in front of the car.:jap:
I wonder what would happen if the police did not supplement their income, maybe they would starve? In that case I shall keep a few McDonald coupons in front of the car.

The country should extend the tax exempt status enjoyed by a few to everyone, that should take care of the bickering. Actually, Thailand should become a tax free haven, since most of the tax is squandered by inept government, flows into shady pockets by corrupt government, or is not collected by lazy government. On further thought, maybe Thailand is better off without a government?
This post is meant to be ironic...

Last time I was at Chaeng Wattana (March), I saw "Mobile Immigration Service" advertised: You can take care of 90 day reporting, purchasing re-entry permits, extending temporary stay on the second Saturday of each month at KhaoSan Road (Buddy Lodge Hotel), and the third Saturday of each month at Bumrungrad Hospital.
Before I went to do my 90 day report at Bumrungrad today, I reconfirmed with Immigration Hotline to make sure it was happening: The service starts from 8:30am to 4pm and is at the clinic bulding on the 10th floor together with business center and lounges and cafes. I arrived at 9:30am and was greeted by an Immigration officer, I received queue #3 (I never ever had that low of a number!!), she checked my docs and had me wait in the spacious lounge area (sofas, upholstered chairs, coffee tables). During my wait 3 more farangs arrived. After about 10min the officer called me by name, not by number(!), and I received my passport and processed form back and was ready on my way. How cool is that: personalized service, low wait, very comfortable surroundings with coffee, magazines etc and in my case a big time and money saving. That's the way to go!
BTW, the officer told me for my one year extension of stay based on marriage, I should continue to go to Chaeng Wattana...ok one time a year...

In the Phuket Gazette's page one story in the November 13 issue last year, Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organization (OrBorTor) President Manote Panchalad said, "If we do remove buildings there, villagers who have businesses there will get together and put pressure on us."
Pressure is baaaad, especially when you are so soft and tender...

Wow only a 1000 baht fine for concealing a pistol? Everyone should have a couple!
That's the going rate for Thai citizens, farangs pay more, for sure!

Another crackdown cracking me up at the crack of dawn. I say: lower the skirts over the knees and show your cracks instead, that should keep everybody happy!
Some ideas to replace those lame game shows on Thai TV: Who's on crack??Whose crack is it?

Having seen other examples of letters written by Cambodian government officials in the local papers I'm not surprised Google hasn't bothered to respond. The quoted text of this letter isn't a lot better:...devoid of truth and reality and professionally irresponsible, if not pretentious...
Pretentious??? Until these so called diplomats can start communicating in an adult manner the whole world will either ignore them or laugh at them.
I assume the Cambodian government used Google Translate to come up with this sentence...

Okay, I'll try something a little different. Rather than planning a "meeting", I live on Sukhumvit Soi 24, a 5 minute walk from Emporium down the soi. If someone or two or more would like to come over to informally chat about getting this idea moving, let me know. I'm retired, so I can be available almost any time, although prefer afternoon or evening. The only day I'm not available is this Monday (Dec 28th).
I sent you an email w/my contact info via your profile.

As to the venue, how about the Starbucks in the emporium suite next to the Emporium, easy access by BTS and not so difficult finding parking there. The lounge there is pretty big (but too crowded on weekend?) and if we decide to go out on photo shoot we can go out to the Benjasiri Park next to it.
Ok with me

It seems to me that coordinating the different availabilities of any interested persons is the problem to get an initial meeting of the ground. Maybe, in order to achieve a substantial first meeting, it should be held on a weekend day in the evening when most people might be available. This group then could discuss the next meet according to their preferences and announce it on the forum, and then maybe get also some photography done.
