  1. Maybe they would like Cha-am, it's famous for its fresh sea food and you can walk along the beach (5 km long). Accomodation is affordable, weather is not too humid. Not sure about beach cleanliness as I hardly ever go these days. Week-ends are busy, so if they need a quiet place you could look further down south, like Bang Saphan or Ban Krut, as mentioned above. The further south you go, the nicer the beaches are.

  2. I live on the outskirts of Cha-am where the only available provider is TOT. It's just ok for basic web browsing but forget about watching TV or virtual meetings. Out here in the sticks you also have to bear with power cuts quite often. If you need a fast (like in "not too slow") connection, you have to live in the center of town and, as hhfarang said, get an expensive package.

  3. Just a wild guess... I'd say something like: in fact yes there is someone but not true love for life, more like something temporarily attached.

I think there must be a play on words by opposing "neua kru" (couple made one for each other, but "neua" is also flesh) and "neuangok", like a cyst or tumor (also flesh, but that you are reluctant to see attached to you).

  4. Many expats live in Cha-am, most are retirees but a few are working (it's my case). I go out about once a week, mostly in Cha-am but sometimes in Hua Hin too. You should really come down and visit the area by yourself, spend a few days in Hua Hin and a few days in Cha-am, then you will know which place you like better.

  5. It's true that some foreigners spend so much time in bars that they think the standard level of Thai is the one spoken by bargirls. So they use the expressions they learn there in all other situations, like this guy I know who uses the expression "top salop salai" every time he can. He thinks he's being funny, but eventually I'm afraid he will just get into trouble.

  6. Maestro, your address points to Klong Wan (first line after Moo 6 that you didn't transcribe), so that's Prachuap city, not Hua Hin. It's probably the address of the immigration office in Dan Singkhon, where foreigners had to go before they opened another office in soi 102 (which then moved to soi 23 and more recently to the canal road).

  7. Don't know about Pattaya but when I was living in Bangkok I could only find one in Central Chidlom and it was ridiculously expensive. By the time I was done searching and I had made up my mind to have one done by a local carpenter, my kid had already fallen down the stairs! He didn't get hurt, but he got the message and we never had to use a baby gate.laugh.png

  8. It's a shopping arcade, Greek style, with brand shops and amusement rides (Ferris wheel, carrousel, bungee jump, 3D theater). It's about kilometer 200 on the road to Bangkok, just before the Factory Outlet. Entrance is 50 baht on week-ends and holidays, free the rest of the time. I guess it's worth visiting on a weekday if you happen to drive by, but you shouldn't expect much. Thai people seem to love the place though, on week-ends it's really packed, with people taking pictures of themselves everywhere.
