  1. Sorry but I don't understand how having to charge the VAT has anything to do with it. As a company owner I have to charge VAT but if my customers are private persons I always give them a price that already includes VAT. If the price is 107 I draw an invoice that shows 100 as the price + 7 VAT, or if the price is 100 then the invoice shows 93.46 + 6.54. I think that what matters is that the VAT is shown on the invoices you give to your accountant. Whether you include or exclude it from the price you give to your customer is your own choice, nobody forces you to exclude it. Or am I missing something?

Besides, as a customer when I go somewhere I like to know what I will be paying. So if I'm in a restaurant and I'm checking the menu, I want to see the final price. I couldn't care less if the owner has to pay taxes or not and I don't want to be charged another 7 or 10% for whatever reasons are explained in a small footprint. Maybe Americans are used to this system, but Thai people (and most people I guess) surely aren't.

  2. You don't need to write "house number", just leave it like this:

    (Name Last name)

    55, Moo 31

    Ban Don Wiang Chan

    T. Khanthararat

    A. Kantharawichai

    Maha Sarakham, 44150

    Thailand

Ban Don Wiang Chan is indeed the village, then you have the subdistrict, the district and the province.

Romanization is OK (capital letters better, to make sure).

  3. Can't he just ask his wife to remove the picture? Simple. Everytime his wife will do something stupid, or something he totally disapproves, regarding food, health, education or general life of his child, will he just stand by and ask himself "<deleted> is she doing", or will he act like a father?

And since you're asking, I think putting make-up on a 6 month old is plain stupid, and putting it on Facebook is plain wrong. The girl hasn't started her life yet and she's already deprived of her privacy. I would hate to be a kid these days and grow up to realize all my life is displayed in pictures on FB or my parents' blog.

  4. I would have thought that "when the rubber meets the road" is when you actually speak to someone, not when you are in a class. I'm not saying Thai language is easy, but it's not like you need to spend hours learning or understanding grammar rules. Just some basic vocabulary is enough to get you going and "hit the road". If you live in Thailand you don't need any learning material, it's all out there.;)

  5. Kids must wear socks, so take some or they wont let you use it

No worries, you can buy socks at the playground. Last time I checked they were selling a pair for 10 baht. ;)

I'm watching this topic with interest, as I would like to know if there are any other playgrounds where I could take my kids. We always end up at Market Village, or at some rusty and derelict outdoor playground like the one at Cha-am forrest park.

Any hotels, maybe, have a playground that we could use for a fee even if we are not customers?
