  1. RIP Bennett. I am saddened and shocked at this news. What the hell happened. ....anybody? I studied Thai with Bennett at YMCA. Top shelf guy. We talked briefly the first day and determined we were both Dead Heads. Next lesson he brought me a CD of Jerry and the boys live at one of thier many concerts. As the years went on, his company Mystery Buddha, was proof beyond any doubt that Bennett had figured out the e- commerce biz model. The introduction of Sure Design T- shirts proved so successful, he had to start a separate platform. You will be missed brother. Fair thee well......

  3. Thanks for all the comments and great recommendation. Especially the chalk. I forgot about that stuff and had good results when living in the condo my first years here. Now, with the house and garden, we are in need of a complete service. The previous company (mentioned in this post already) stopped coming and basically said screw you. So...we found a company called CTS. In thai it mean Chiang Mai tree service. They do mostly commercial, Universities and hospitals. 6k for the year. They drilled the holes ( a bit troubling at first) and injected the chemi in to the ground under and throughout the the house. I can't say if this is a good solution or not, but time will tell. They patch the drill marks adequately although if I had imported Italian tile on the floor I would not have done this. They sprayed the exterior areas and garden. They will return monthly. Service done about 4 days ago. Small ants still abound! Thanks for imput boys and gals.

  4. Be careful about your assumptions. I read the whole thing and just because the OP mentioned ants does not mean that they are the only problem they want to take care of. Wanted a pest control service company. Perhaps you need to read more closely.

Yes, you are correct Dante. Although the little ants are formost on my radar, a full service pest control company is what was implied. Cheers

  5. Anyone losing money in a big way in order to launder money would be way too stupid to make money in the first place.

If you only knew. John lost $1.5 million on a deal, the guy on the otherside of the deal gained the 1.5, then he bought a house for $1.3 and gave it to a BVI trust, the sole beneficiary of which is John's son .........

    Who is stupid?

    Who is John ?

    regards Worgeordie

    John is on first.

  6. The banning of Creosote in the US has spurred the adoption of pressure treated wood for outside use. I seriously doubt if there are any sources of pressure treated wood here in Thailand

Yes there is. Head out Chuang Puek towards Mae Rim. Just past the junction of the outer ring round on the east side is a very large furniture Factory . Run by EU folks. They have a pressure treating machine in house. Not sure if you can bring your own lumber to their party.......

Currently all creosote treated wood products railroad crossties, utility poles, foundation and marine piling, posts, lumber, and timbers are manufactured using this type of wood preservative. The manufacturing process can only be a pressure process under the supervision of a licensed applicator certified by the State Departments of Agriculture. No brush-on, spray or non-pressure uses of creosote are allowed as specified by the EPA approved label for the use of creosote.[13] The use of creosote according to the AWPA Standards does not allow for mixing with other types of creosote type materials such as wood-tar creosote, lignite-tar creosote, peat-tar creosote, oil-tar creosote, and water-gas-tar creosote. The AWPA Standard P3 does however, allow blending of a high-boiling petroleum oil meeting the AWPA Standard P4.[12] [14]

  7. Greeting . Getting out of Chiang Mai on the 21st until the smoke clears........can anyone give me info on golf price promotions, sports day, conditions of various coarse. I am a 20 handicap so I don't want to play extremely challenging tracks. Red Mt. Looks nice as does Mission. Heard Blue Mt. Is in poor shape. True?

I am a 1 ball now so would not mind playing with others.........cheers.

    Kevin.

  8. re

Be great if it stayed like this all year

doi sutheps looking nice and clear this morning :)

Unfortunatly, on the way back from Mae Joe on Friday, large tracks of rice fields going up in smoke. Tenders visible and stoking the fires? Enforcement - Haha. I have a sneaky suspicion we are in for a brutal and early burning season. The farmers cannot grow a 3 rd harvest this year so all that is left to do is........?

  9. Baan Tawai has the best place for good cotton bedding at the best cost....none of the lousy poly blend that the chain stores carry....soi 5 or 15...past the coffee/cafe about 3 sois turn right...on the left about 1/3-1/2 way down...they supply most of the 5 stars....one of the best kept secrets in CM....once found we never go any place else.....

Bedding/ sheets are one of the purchases I do when back in my country. Never had a good night sleep on Thai sheeting. 650 thread count complete king sets at Costco or SAMs for about 50 $. That being said, I will check out the Baan Tawai source you mentioned. If quality is there, this will free up more room in the suit case for some prime beef! Thanks for the tip. Steaks on me.

  10. I stayed at Marina Inn for 1 month for 8000thb, serviced every 5-6 days, they offered me 4000 the next month if i promised not to use the aircon but i had found a house by then

Nice little place, if you do decide to stay there for abit to get an idea if you really want to live in the area get a room facing south and on the 5th floor of higher, its on google maps and the markets start about 150 meters away via the back entrance

Not sure about a south facing condo. My experience with this orientation was hot , hot, and more hot. Moved quickly to a N.W. orientation and never ran the ac . I could be wrong on this particular condo........just my 2 cents.

  11. It isn't near Nimmenheiman but I recommend Elite smile at Pantip Plaza. The orthodontist there only works Wednesday afternoons and Sundays but is excellent. I have gum problems and spend around 45 minutes every 3 months which costs me 800 Baht. Her English and personality are both excellent

I agree with all of the above.

Yep. I second that. Excellent. Or , ignore your teeth and they will go away!

  12. Another option would be to watch Interstellar at Maya, SF Cinema and safe the costs for the songtaew...

That's what I did on Sunday. I paid 100 B to see it at the Maya. The movie was a big yawn for me. Seeing it in Imax wouldn't have made it any better. I should have listened to the The Wall Street Journal, they rated it 40% on Metacritic..."The last thing I expected was a space adventure burdened by turgid discussions of abstruse physics, a wavering tone, visual effects of variable quality..."

Yeah it really has some snotty reviews. As much as I like Mathew M. ( and he is suppose to be excellent in this roll) , the rest of the flick sounds like a canidate for a rotten tomatoe!

  13. I've noticed that Central Food Hall at Central Festival has a few huge looking turkeys, but didn't look at the weight. I noticed a few large turkeys also at Makro Mae Rim but again didn't look at the weight. Ask the clerk to go in the back and look for larger turkeys and see what he finds.

Rimping meechok, yesterday . BB 199 /kilo. Norbest 195/kilo. Several in the 20 lbs range . Gonzo, what Makro did you see,the babies at? What price?

  14. When i was a boy the teacher stopped the classes to listen to the Cubs win the Series.

And i thought Willie Mays was the 'say hey kid'.

Cubs have not won a series sense 1908. You must be older than Methuselah. w00t.gif

Yes but, there is always next year.
