  1. Hopefully the Chinese, Japanese, Thais etc will not follow the Arabs.

No question, they will. But I don't doubt the smarter ones will know that they'll decrease their advantages in case they're working on an international base. In some cases it may make sense: Imagine you want to sell a product almost local people are interested in e.g. amulets as consecrated magic glass marbels which will protect you - as has been proved, of course ... - from gunshots or poverty ...

I can't imagine this could have any negative result for me.

  2. The photo of the snake on the right is a python.

Python molurus (common names: Indian python, black-tailed python, and Indian rock python), hardly longer than 3 meters.

And this one quite pigged out recently. Hope you didn't miss your cat, Richards ...

  3. I just had a look at the book's website (thebookofwhat.info) and now you can see before you buy what you can expect, especially a sample of its unique map work but also how the other chapters look.

Now its even possible to add your own information / business for further editions.

Forget the yellow pages --- Look in the blue ones ...!

  4. There is a difference between a brunch and a breakfast and the poster asked for the best breakfast as does the topic :) .

    Don't be so nitpicking!

He will simply not look at the lunch dishes and - voila - he enjoys a perfect breakfast ... :D

  5. Everytime when we want to have a really extraordinary breakfast (buffet style) we visit the Holiday Inn on Sundays, starting at 11:30. In fact it's a brunch meaning offering also lunch dishes.

Never tasted such a great international variety of fresh and tasty quality kickshaws for the reasonable price of 450 THB/person (making use of their free Elite Dining Card). Everytime we spend at least 2 hours.

For holiday Sundays it's advised to make a table reservation.

  6. Today I can't imagine how I could have survived my first years in CNX (1993 ...) without this book. Just now I found a fully revised 2010 version, available at GECKO's (1 copy remaining). Heard that normally D.K. book shop also has it (Map department, but unfortunately out of stock yesterday).

A must for every CNX freshy! And also old hands will find latest information about anything what may be in need. Similar to Yellow Pages but much much more detailed, and much more CNX info (E.g. flight-/train schedules, weather statistics, docs needed for immigration a.s.o.). The map: Beats by far even GARMIN's v.10.0 or ThinkNet's latest version of Thailand --- Never saw anything more precise. Every mentioned shop has its reference in the map and a little comment.

    200 THB --- Can't be invested better!

This is not an advertisement at all. I'm simply a captured fan of the great work the author made. I'm sure - You'll love it, too.

  7. I need 2 mm thick brass (CuZn) sheet (die) cut, brass strip material (2 mm thick, 20 mm width) cut, bended, soldered, sanded. Must have 100% nice finish at the end.

Any recommenations where to buy this raw material?

Any recommendations for a company able to do the work really professionally in higher quantities?

Chiang Mai would be most appreciated but of course also any other place in Thailand would be fine.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

  8. Hi Annabel,

I would go on with the ultrasound solution. Such a unit isn't too difficult or expensive to build (Frequency synthesizer, lots of info in the net e.g. www.ryanmcginty.com/orgone/freqgentutorial.htm --- An electrical engineering student should be able to solder it together for little money), all needed parts are easily available in CNX. I would suggest to give it an infinitely variable range from let's say 30 to 50KHz, then you can find out the best frequency in practice. Of course you need a powerful emplifier and capable piezo speaker.

I do not see any other solution than to give this a try but I'm quite sure it will work. The roosters will simply avoid to stay close to the disliked sound, and will retreat to the more remote areas of the 6.5 rai where they will not be heard disturbingly anymore.

Good luck, I cross my fingers for you! (We spent some AUA courses together [Khun Khit or Khun Malee] about 15 years ago)

  9. I want to seal the backside of a picture frame by a 2 – 3 mm thick plastic panel/sheet (100 x 80 cm) and silicone for outdoor use. The plastic can be of any kind (Acrylics, polyesters, polyurethanes …). Global + Home Pro don’t have it as well as some board makers I asked.

Does anybody know where to get it?

Aluminum sheet would be an alternative but more expensive. This I know where to get.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Thanks, Jack.

My friend told me he already looked at several stone suppliers (also showing them samples) but "No Hap". Hopefully you are more successful. In any case we highly appreciate your willingness to have a look, too, and look forward to your follow-up post.

    BR, rebo

  11. As far as I know soap stone does not appear in Thailand but in China.

Does anybody know where to get it here in solid blocks (Any size, up to one cubic meter)? A friend of mine likes to make his own carvings.

    Thanks in advance!

  12. Making individual writing desks is our daily bread.

We can produce a solid teak wood or rose wood desk board with the required dimensions (2m x 1m), thickness whatever you wish. The wood is from more than 50 years old houses, so no later distortion at all.

Waterprooveness is up to surface sealing, I recommend "Woodtect Deck Stain, e.g. Matt Burmese Teak or Matt Clear" - looks perfect.

Send me a PM with your specs for a quote.
