  1. I like any kind of music.

I doubt, that in 50+ years, in any bigger town around the Globe, will be a quartet performing Beatles songs on stage weekendly...

Mr Buriram, how can you not like this? the stealthy lullaby beginning, perfect for looking out over the rice fields, the terror as a venomous snake creeps onto your porch, followed by the calm as it slithers away between the tiles, restoring tranquility to the scene.

Are you trying to send me on a flashback horrortrip?
  2. Ah village life. Now I know why I have always avoided it...... Am a bit surprised that

the brother thought he could just walk up and kill people with a stick. Guess that means

he is either connected or law enforcement does not exist. Personally if I was the

Danish guy I would put out a contract on the guy that killed his wife, and make

tracks for a more benign environment....

I can't understand this, life is usually better regulated in the village than in a big town. The village chief,or pu yai, is an influenciel figure of respect and has a great deal of power,he is also the go-between the villagers and police. In my village there is almost no need for police action as the pu yai regulates things from theft to domestic strife and he does it very well.
all fine unless you totally fall out with head of village as we did 15 odd years ago now replaced by another. The head man totally unfairly took other side in a dispute with a local mafia type family. We refused to give in and refused his so called judgement and so went to police who said head of village already written our fault. We refused this and police laughed our face when our solicitor told him actual legal facts of the case which was 50/50 both parties to blame. they were very aggressive to me and my This wife and to 2 Thai supported who came with us. We stuck to our guns and in end to keep peace given other side had already murdred a local due to a minor dispute we let them save some face so avoided having to get more guard dogs and rest. However the head of village lost face so no one in village would talk or acknowledge us and some pressure we resisted was made but we did not give up. Our 2 children were were very young and we took extra precautions including a paid guard when taking them to and from school. The village though of us as super rich which were not but we invited some hisos we knew to visit. Now after 15+ years a few of village acknowledge us and mafia type family have been in and out of prison more times i can remember but never for long and have I understood killed at least 2 other Thais. Everyone fears them and police as we found out are no help and head of village is paid off. Were left alone and I'm still only forang in the village. Forangs i warn dont believe me but its no different than living in gangster controlled estates in UK or other places. We've been tempted to leave many times but its no problem and we still have 4 large guard dogs. SAme would happen anywhere in west controlled by mafia types if you are unlucky enough to come n conflict with them even in leafy surrey where I came from and perhaps worst there since its hidden behind respectability and charm.
    Unreal,

through what kind of shît some people are willing to go... to live in an Issan village... for 15+ years... hired bodyguard(s !) to bring the kids to ( Issan village ) "school", how stupid is that? Living in an Issan village, for 15+ years... how braindead one must be? How cruel to deprive his own offspring from having a future?

    i(not)care999, shame on you!

  3. Note to myself: avoid wearing shorts to (any) my wifes funeral...

Note to you: Think twice before posting!!

I really like how Chonburiram has got to the heart of this tragedy with a clear, insightful and passionate retort. I am sure they poor victim's husband will be grateful for his advice as he mourns the death of his wife and fears for his own life and that of his son.
... while unwilling to " leave before the criminal case is over"; the mind boggles at so much stubbornness.

Not the best decision maker, he is.

  4. Perhaps you would be kind enough to provide some examples of "music catering to adults" that this sheltered AC/DC loving, mid 60 year old, grey haired human is missing.

Dont know where to start... maybe you could give all composers a try who are dead for 70 years and more and still interpreted/played till today on instruments who dont need to be electrical amplified.

YouTube is a great source for that. Just one example from millions:

Aahhh. Nothing wrong with classical music, jazz, nor country, nor any other genre. However to imply that one grows up and away from rock and roll implies, to me at least, that one never really did enjoy it much, especially if drugs were necessary.
You may have a point there, but seeing AC/DC, The Stones, Floyd, and so on riding on the same wave for 50 years making a spectacle of oneself, looks - childish

I was listening to that "be careful with that axe eugene" song and was wondering why my stoned, shoot up young mind was liking it so much that i had to play it 10 000 times?

Sex and Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll are definitively for the young.

  6. Great place to go/be. Enjoy your stay. Smart, relaxed population, good infrastructure, oil&gas money all around.

Do you come for visit or work?

There is also a Pattaya style girly road, you should better avoid...

  7. Beer Lao, now available in small bottles at all 7ens, nationwide, the (preferred) dark version 6,5% alc for 58฿, say good bye to your hangovers... finally something worthy at 7en... Thai brewery's, watch out!

  8. I once ordered Kao Mok Gai, the lady was asking/saying Kao Mok? I did understand Kao mot ( No rice ), i said "mai ben rai", went to the next food stall and ordered something else. While eating, the lady came with a plate of Kao Mok Gai to my table... we all had a good laugh about the misunderstanding.

  9. The first time i came to Thailand i needed a written consent from my parents, bec i wasn't of legal age...

My first surprise was, that a public service vehicle i boarded at the southern bus terminal in BKK scheduled for Had Yai would make an extra tour after a night long ride over nearly 1000 km, with 70+ pax to a unknown village near Songkla, just to get that farang kid to the place he showed the driver scribbled on a letter.

I've looked it up, it was a detour of about 120 km.

First i thought, man, how lucky i am that my destination is on the route...

  10. ... The reception folk (who are often not even nurses) will otherwise send you off to whomever (1) happens to be there at that particular day and time (random chance) and (2) is least busy among the latter (usually for good reason, i.e. the best docs tend to be heavily booked). The will also in some cases refer to the wrong type of specialist, I've seen it happen...

I know a doctor who starts love affairs at "strategical" important places simultaneously at different hospitals and also on different wards in the same hospital.

His wife knows about it, and when necessary, helps to end a not longer profitable liaison...

  11. I already did the exercise before. I find guilt tripping and Calvinist preaching abhorrent. I agree Rob's idea is very good. It's just mine is much more fun ... I choose more fun same results. Super easy decision!

Sent from my Lenovo S820_ROW using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Motivation = Manipulation, do you really think it's more fun?

You are a grown up man, do you really think you need this self-deluding gear?
