I assume many of us have seen part of this:
"Sugar: the bitter truth."
This is the long version but there is a short 30 minute version that is very well done.
Actually,
it's about fructose... NOT SUGAR!
Real, expensive, sugar, from sugar cane, is a great thing to have...

Thailand respects Saudi Arabia envoy's recall: Sihasak
Quite curious what they could to do disrespect this decision?
Crack down on shisha smoking?

I recall very well from the time the little GH's were toddlers long discussions on BBC Radio 4 and in the broadsheets on the accelerating decline in reading amongst the young. What should the Government do? Are our schools failing our youth? What can parents possibly do? Are computers and video games forcing young people away from books? Angst ridden, politicians, educators, parents and more than a few kids being over analysed.
I recall too, and still have, the required reading list Mrs GH and I assembled for our children, the books we felt we wanted them to read at various stages of their development and that we ensured were packed along with the household essentials as we were assigned to different locations around the world. Our hope of course that our children would buck the trend and be avid readers.
Then out of the blue it all changed again - as it always does.
Along came someone called J K Rowling with tales of magic, wizards, witches and ignited reading amongst the young.
Of course BBC Radio 4 and the broadsheets where then filled with angst ridden discussion on 'is this appropriate reading' - but reading it was and it has sparked a culture of reading amongst that whole generation of young people, not just in the UK but across the world.
Again, take a look in Thai book stores, lots of literature, Thai and foreign translated into Thai, lots of Thai people browsing and buying these books.
Oh, dear!
How could i forget Harry Potter?
Leaving the house for more than 12h without the collected works of Rowling would have been a major catastrophe.
The daughter bought once the English version of a "Harry Potter" bec the Thai version was published too slow...
Anyway, she didn't enjoy it that much - reading for pleasure (as a kid) is best done in your mother tongue.
Btw, the layout of the Thai "Harry Potter" is nice and readable.

My wive kids started to read Thai from kindergarten, in civilized Thailand, that means from the age of 3... private, unexpensive(?), Thai/Christian school... textbooks were, like Napalm4me suggested, with spaces between every word, like: "The train arrives", " Gaa sees the train arriving", " Gaeo and Gaa waiting for grandfather", " Grandfather arrives by train" and so on...
23 years later, the daughter ( after A LOT OF READING... ) is going to be a medical doctor.
In rural Thailand... bury all your hopes...

I see a disturbed person. Why is there no outcry about this???
Is this the normal cop behaviour in the US??
I give a shít what happened to Mr. Brown (is this a common surname for black Americans?), but this is a
disgrace to police work for all real policeman/woman in the whole world.
An unarmed, disturbed person gunned down by 2! fully functional police officers, just after about 10 sec! they approached the scene?
Usa, you are so fourth world...
You don't see the knife? As long as he is wandering or climbing that wall the police are just "on guard." But when he gets closer and starts toward them they correctly shoot.
I would far rather be shot with a handgun than stabbed. Knives slash and cut and are deadly.
Cops are trained to shoot someone with a knife if he gets within about 21 feet (7 meters) of them. They let him get a lot closer than that.
Then they are trained to keep shooting until they are sure the threat is neutralized.
Go to full screen with a really good monitor and with really good sound and see what that perp is really doing and saying.
I see 2! police officers, shouting with drawn guns covered by their car doors at a disturbed person.
I see 2! yes, 2 not 1 police officer, emptying their gun magazines, without a second thought, into the body of a disturbed person just about 13 seconds after arriving at the scene, in broad daylight, stereo.
If you think that is normal, correct behaviour and the right way how police work is done, than you are wrong on all accounts.
I've broke up a few brawls and 2 also included a drawn knife. and i am not a police officer or in martial arts...
Killing a (disturbed) human being should still be the utmost thing to avoid for any other human, and not something you do in stereo, while on your job.

The med kit is missing anti-biotic.
Cipro 500mg is a useful one to have.
As a previous poster suggested, tramadol is a must have.
I have them, but they always expire. Would be interesting how much longer you could store things if you store them in the fridge at 5 degree (or deep freeze??? for non liquids), dark and closed.
I am sure the normal expiration date has a huge margin. If stored at 30+ degree in Thailand I guess you can store it the double time than they put on the package just for safety.
Cold should make that much longer.
If temperature is not recommended keep all your locally purchased medicine at room temperature (dark&dry) it's produced for the local climate, keep it in the freezer can destroy it.
Btw, condoms should not be refrigerated, they can loose elasticity and break.
I'm not sure about antibiotics but painkillers only get weaker but do not expire.

Stop your caffeine intake (read your other thread...) completely, after withdrawal you should be ok.
Exercise in evening.
Do breath exercises.
Exercise at your usual time, in evening, go for a brisk walk.- 1

I think that you will find that the court order allowed the mother the right to have the children for short annual periods. The abducted kids are being used as "bargaining chips" or emotional hostages to prise money out of the father. Doubtless Mummy has a Thai b/f with gambling /drug/ bank debts helping her along.
If the Father has sole custody of the kids, he should never have returned them to her even for a "visit". No good turn goes unpunished with people like that.
She could have come to England (on her expense) to exercise her right...
Big mistake from the father - leave the kids out of sight with the mother --- while doing his "Pattaya Temple Tour Holyday"; responsible father,(unemployed?), still living with his parents, my arse!
The Norwegian new husband? Would you give your vulnerable daughters in a setting like this?
I think this Norwegian guy is the sick mastermind behind all this.
I feel sorry for the girls...but all adults involved (incl. grand parents) deserve themselves.

Wow! I know i had better buy all my booze now before they start to do this. Surely i will never touch acohol again if i have to see those pics and warnings.
Sent from my GT-S5310 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
They give a shít what you do - it's the next generation who counts. Growing up with these warnings will have some influence. -
Saw a policeman beating up 2 teenagers who had a scuffle in front of an internet shop. During the physical punishment, he was also lecturing them about the right social behavior outside the ring, when in puplic, while wearing (school)uniform, how to resolve problems between humans/fellow-countrymen/school mates and suchlike...
He was quite generous with his teachings and the 2 guy's were thanking him with the highest Wais they could give. Passersby were shaking their heads in confirmation, made my day.- 1

I do a lot of sports, mainly cardio, but also some weight lifting ( about 2 h, 2-3 days per week ). I eat a healthy, very varied diet ( no low carb, no vegetarian, no no sugar, no no oil, no no salt, no only raw, no only fruit fad diet...). I' ve never been on any medication or supplements, dont do drugs, except an occasional coffee or a few beers, never was overweight.
3 month ago i ordered 3 kg whey protein from clubprotein...
Every morning before my regular workout/breakfast i had more than 3 tablespoons dissolved in plain 400 ml water. To my surprise, i really could see some kind of muscle growth which i considered as borderline "unnatural" , the downside was that it disturbed my digestive system as well.
Now, i'm a little concerned about this "growthphenomenon" - could it be, that an undetected tumour or cancer cells get "kick started" from protein drinks?
Finished the whole 3 kg but did not reorder...

Whisky and Wine, the two most unliked alcoholic beverages when I was young...
Maybe your sons grow up unaffected from permanent alcohol advertisement/promotion and think about alcohol consumption like nowaday Thais think about chewing betelnut.
